Don't be scared by all these reviews. Happy people don't write reviews lol. I have been taking this for 3 months with the biggest issue being breakthrough bleeding/spotting. It's tolerable and otherwise side effects have been OK. I gained maybe two pounds and I think it was all in my boobs.

At first, I loved this form of birth control, I was actually loosing weight. Small break through bleeding, no acne, no cramping, great libido, everything was fine for me. Well I ran out of the 5 samples I received from my doctor and I recently switched to the generic form of lo-loestrin due to insurance and costs. It's been about 4 months and I'm miserable, I hate myself, I get sad or mad about th...

The first month I got my period same time as usual, didn't last any longer than normal(I got it in the third week of the pack). The second month, I got it half-way through the second week, and had a lot of trouble stopping. It lasted about 7-10 days. Currently on the third month, will see if it does any better. Other negatives: I have broken out severely with acne, have a lot of cramping, and have experienced a lot of vaginal irritation. Positives: I bleed much lighter than I used to but for a longer time period. Also, stabilized my blood sugars around that time of the month. Probably going to go off this pill with my follow-up visit.Read More Read Less

I have been on this pill for 2 weeks now and have experienced almost every side effect listed: insomnia, stomach pain, nausea all day long, vomiting, skin problems, but most of all terrible mood swings and anger. Crying and feeling constantly misunderstood. Spotting. I will get off this pill as soon as I can. I rather have bad periods than deal with these side effects. I was told that it "might" get better, but I cannot live like this for 3 months hoping it changes.

A year ago I had two benign ovarian cysts surgically removed along with my left ovary and fallopian tube. During the surgery my doctor and I also discovered the cause: severe endometriosis. In recent months my pelvic pain had come back plus I'd noticed the onset of many symptoms mimicking menopause (vaginal dryness, no sex drive, depressed, forgetful) and did enough online research to know the loss of the one ovary can cause major hormonal imbalance. So! I went to my OBGYN this spring and asked to be put on birth control pills to try to reduce the pelvic pain and rebalance my hormones. Since I haven't used birth control pills in over 10 years, my doctor started me on Lo Loestrin because of its low estrogen dosage. I've been on it 2 1/2 months now with better results--my pelvic pain has lessened (although I still have to take Advil throughout the day about two weeks of the month) and my sex drive is noticeably better (which my husband appreciates!) I've put on a couple pounds this past month though, so I need to increase exercise and decrease snacking. I go back to see my doctor in three weeks and I'm going to ask if there's a stronger version of this pill. My body is responding well to this low dose so I'm thinking I may be back to normal with a higher dose.Read More Read Less

I am on my third month and love this pill. I have had a tubal and started taking this pill to stop bleeding. I was bleeding for 7 weeks and by the 3rd month of taking this pill I no longer have a period. I am very satisfied. I have not had any other side effects other that slight sore breasts the first month since then it has passed.

I have been taking this pill for 11 months, and I have not had a period since. i haven't had my horrible cramps but my mood swings are still present. Other than not having a period (which I don't mind) I am happy with this pill.

I am in my first month of taking this medication. I have called the doctor to see if a few days of spotting is normal. From what I've read most everyone has had this in the first month and then said they were going to quit. You're body takes longer than that to get accustomed to birth control. I've been on a few different kinds in the last 12 years. I have been tired, tender breasts and unable to concentrate, but I believe that happens when you mess with your hormones until they get adjusted. I'll review again next month.Read More Read Less

I started this medication on the first day of my period, and so far, the spotting still has not stopped. Other than that, I have no side affects, other than slight increase of hunger at times, and a bit of tiredness occasionally. As far as mood swings go, I feel that this medication has actually stablized me, emotionally, and I feel more level-headed since taking lo loestrin. Will review again in a month or so!

I am currently in my first month of this medication, I am starting to wonder if some of the issues I am experiencing are related to this pill, based on some of the comments on here I am thinking that I may need to discontinue this BC. I have been very moody, easily frusterated, can not concentrate at work, and have had several days where I just want to sleep. Will be call DR tomorrow to see if I can just stop taking this med.

I was on this birth control for about a week to a week and a half and stopped because I couldn't take it. I experienced heavy spotting to the point where I was soaking a maxipad every hour, as well as nausea, migraines, dizziness, and the worst cramps in the entire world. I went to the doctor and she said that I had become anemic from all the blood loss, and put me on a bunch of medication. I stopped taking it and tried Ortho Cyclen, and am so much happier now!

To those of you just beginning with this pill, give it time. I took it for over a year with no problems whatsoever, but had to come off because I could not afford it. I then got back on and for the first month, I did spot for about 10 days, but now everything is back to "normal." I do not get a period on this pill, my mild acne is gone, and oddly I have gained 3 pounds, though I do not attribute that all to this pill. Please be patient and give the pill more than a month. I have been on many versions of b/c pills and even had Depo... this pill is by far the best and mildest when it comes to side effects. I just wish it was not so expensive. Read More Read Less

I'm just finishing my first month on Loloestrin Fe (after almost five years on Yasmin / Ocella), and I love it! My (mild) acne has completely cleared up, no other side effects to speak of, and my period started right on time and is super light (although I've had a bit more cramping than I did with the Ocella). I have several friends who've tried this pill but stopped taking it because of skipped periods or non-stop spotting... but just wanted to post a positive review to prove that's not the case for everyone!Read More Read Less

this is not a tool to complain this is genuine. I'm entering my 4th month of use but as of today I quit. One period was 6 weeks long, i'm still on my period that has lasted 3 weeks. Although I've not experienced the excrushiating pain with fibroids, I bleed constantly which is effecting my iron level and the worse part is that I fit all the clinical symptoms of depression since taking this. It didn't happen right away but I noticed the moodiness that changed to crying all the time to now, severe depression and nothing has changed in my life to make me depressed accept that I have been on this pill for over 3 months. I'm attributing this to the pill. I don't know what other form to take or that I should even take any to regulate my 7-9 day periods but I'll take 9 days to 21 days periods any day!Read More Read Less

I have been taking this pill for only two months, but I can already tell I don't like it. I already talked to my Dr. about switching. I noticed within the first two weeks of starting this pill I started getting big pimples. I haven't had pimples like that since middle school. I also noticed that I was getting a lot of cramping, pretty much every single day I took the pill and I usually never get cramps. I have noticed the feeling of nausea two or three times. And I do notice I have spotting a week or two before my actual period starts.Read More Read Less

Get rid of cysts? Yes. Make me...heavier, angrier, more raging, irritable, depressed, feel worthless, lost all sex drive, develop IBS, have heart flutters, cry at the drop of a hat, lost interest in most everything in life...yes again. WORST CHOICE I HAVE EVER MADE.

I stared this bc about 5 months ago for period migraines. For that it has been wonderful. It has decreased my sex drive & increased my appetite. I am starting my 5th month & now have had 11 straight days of bleeding. Before this I had no problems with bleeding . . .calling my doctor tomorrow!
