Don't be scared by all these reviews. Happy people don't write reviews lol. I have been taking this for 3 months with the biggest issue being breakthrough bleeding/spotting. It's tolerable and otherwise side effects have been OK. I gained maybe two pounds and I think it was all in my boobs.

At first, I loved this form of birth control, I was actually loosing weight. Small break through bleeding, no acne, no cramping, great libido, everything was fine for me. Well I ran out of the 5 samples I received from my doctor and I recently switched to the generic form of lo-loestrin due to insurance and costs. It's been about 4 months and I'm miserable, I hate myself, I get sad or mad about th...

I have been on this pill for two months now and bleed constantly up until today. My hair is thinning, and falling out. I'm afraid to brush it. I haven't noticed any mood swings and libido is fine, no tenderness in breasts, and slight weight LOSS, which is good for me. Anyways, if I didn't have a years worth I would stop taking this pill because of the hair loss alone.

I have tried many different types of bc pills and could not take any of them. The side effects were always awful.. Right before I turned 40, I had the worst bleeding, and cloting.. It was for 6 months straight. They wanted to do a partial hyst. on me. I was not ready for that being that all of my test came back cancer free. Finally a new doctor ask me to try Lo Lestrin. I told him I coulnt take bc pill. He said just try it.. I started the pill. The first month, I felt a little nauseous and bloated. I have now just finished my 3rd month. I feel really good. All of the bleeding has stopped. Its worked great for me. Read More Read Less

I have had mood swings, headaches, swelling, bloating and weight gain. I have not had a period in 1 1/2 years. I also have had trouble with skin problems and acne. Decided to stop to see if symptoms subside.

I've been on Lo Loestrin Fe for 6 months and just went off it to try to get pregnant. I've been on some form of oral birthcontrol for the last 14 years. This is my favorite one that I've been on so far, other than the cost, since there is no generic yet. I use the discount card, but it's still not cheap. The only side effects I can report are short light periods or skipped periods, which I consider a good thing, and sometimes vaginal dryness, but I can do something about that. In the 6 months I've been on this pill, I've only had 2 periods and they were about 2 days each time and very light. The only complaint I've had is that it is that it is taking some time to get my period now that I'm off the pill. If I had known that this was common with this pill, I would have gone off it a few months ago, so I wouldn't have the wait time to getting pregnant. For those who are saying this is an aweful pill, and to not use it, I would say, it took me 7 different pills and 14 years to find that this one was the best for me so far. I've had different symptoms on everyone I've taken. No one can predict exactly how you will respond. Just keep trying something new until you find one you like. Good luck.Read More Read Less

My doctor switched me to Lo Lo Estrin Fe after taking me off of Beyaz. I had previously been on Yaz/Beyaz for 5 years and never had any side effects and they worked great. I was taken off due to the high incidence of blood clots. I have been on Lo Lo Estrin since the end of August and have not had a period. No spotting, nothing and I am not pregnant. I would rather have my period each month for reassurance. I also experienced severe acne on my chin, a normal breakout spot for me. This acne is the worst I have ever experienced and took forever to clear up. I also had light breakouts on my chest and back which are not normal for me. I also continuously have had discomfort or a general crampiness over my left ovary for a couple of weeks. The discomfort was also on the left side of my low back. My doctor said it could possibly be cysts. Just a very annoying pill to be on. I was recently switched to something else and hope to have a better experience.Read More Read Less

My doc prescribed Loestrin for me because I have an ovarain cyst on my left ovary, I have started going through menopause and I have endometriosis. He wanted me to take the Loestrin to see if it would help dissolve my cyst and help with my menopause symptoms. I took this pill for 17 days and had to stop. I had the following side effects: severe mood swings, UTI symptoms, Yeast infection symptoms, severe cramps, consipation, hot flashes, and frequent urination.

I have been on LoLo for over a year now. I have been on a few different BC's and this one has been the best. Something to keep in mind is that that you are putting a drug into your body and your body will react in some way. So those of you who were hoping for a pill with no side effects at all will be dissapointed. Every body is different but what I experienced have been headaches, some moodiness, bloating. Overall PMSy symptoms. They come and go. My periods were fine for the first few months but then started getting more and more sparse and then they just stopped coming. I mean it's fine but I do take pregnancy tests every month which end up adding to the already high cost of the pill. Overall I'm happy with it though. Read More Read Less

I began taking this pill after taking the mini pill while breast feeding. The first couple of months were great, however, about the 3 month I began to notice I was beginning to have mood swings, hot flashes, and irritability. These are things I've never experienced while taking bc. The last two months of taking this pill, I have not had a period. I'm not one who likes not having a period because it causes me to think I'm pregnant. To make matters worse, it is now starting to interfere with my sex drive; this is the last straw. I'm getting off this pill and would not recommend it to anyone.Read More Read Less

While first taking the pill, the first couple months I was very moody and emotional, but I rarely had my period which I liked. After the first two months my mood became better and I loved the pill- no weight gain, acne, nothing terrible. After I refilled my prescription and started taking it again, I started to break out in rashes all over my body a couple hours after taking the pill. After three weeks of investigating what I could possibly be breaking out from, I stopped taking the pill and my severe rash went away. Other then my own reaction to it, I loved the pill-unfortunately had to switchRead More Read Less

Going on my 3rd month. I have had bleeding the majority of the month with the worst cramps I' ve ever had. They last all day long and don't go away even with the max dosage of pain killers. The bleeding only stopped when i took the white pills and then i skipped my periods. My boobs are extremely painful. Moods have been a little crazy but could be worse. The worst part is I have ZERO sex drive. We've tried everything with no luck. After reading reviews we think its this pill. Might be switching BC soon. Read More Read Less

I was given a prescription for Lo Loestrin Fe and three free sample packs by my GYN. I've had a mostly positive experience with it; no weight gain (maybe even a little weight loss!), no significant mood changes (maybe a little more emotional than usual, but nothing as bad as with some other pills I've taken). The only thing I really didn't like was the breakthrough bleeding. I didn't have my period when I was supposed to at the end of the pack. Instead, it would usually start a week later and it would last for about a week and would be only slightly less painful than my normal periods. For now, though, I'm switching to Microgestin Fe 1/20 because the Lo Loestrin is going to cost me $70/month, even with insurance! Much too high a price to pay for BC!! :(Read More Read Less

This is the first birth control pill I've been on. I am primarily taking the pill to ease cramping; my regular menstrual cramps are debilitating. I am now 2 weeks into my first month and I have noticed breakouts on my face, chest, and back. I had a regular period (you start this pill on your 1st day of your cycle) but on my 11th day I started spotting. It is now my 15th day and I am still spotting. One night I had a sharp, cramp-like pain in my right shin that would not release without using a heating pad. Last night I experienced cramps in my lower abdomen similar to menstrual cramps. Aside from the spotting, the most significant change I have noticed is in my mood. I am far more irritable. Before the pill it took a lot to get me worked up but now my moods change at the drop of a hat. I have generally felt less happy since taking this pill. If these side effects continue or get worse, I do not see myself continuing with this pill. I would rather have horrible, regular periods than be miserable/angry all the time.Read More Read Less

I have been on this medication for the past month or so. I am very disappointed in it as I have been spotting for a whole month now. This has never happened to me before and I have taken many different birth controls. Unsatisfied!

I had a tubal ligation which causes a hormone imbalance with hair loss, irregular periods & heavy bleeding, acne with one huge pimple every two weeks. I've been on this pill two weeks and I feel bloated all the time and my face first cleared up and now is broken out in a rash and very small pimples all over. The only plus - I lost 2 pounds and my hair stopped falling out.

I take BC primarily for acne control. I switched to Lo Loestrin FE after telling my ob/gyn that I thought the Ocella I has been taking for years was making me feel extremely anxious and jittery. It has been a godsend. My acne came back a bit during first week or so, but after finishing my second pack, my skin is perfectly clear. Caveat is I also take Oracea and spironolactone for acne as well, not just the Lo Loestrin FE alone. Additionally, I do not feel anxious at all, and PMS symptoms like cramping and back pain have drastically decreased. After first pack, I didn't get my period, but on last day of 2nd pack, it arrived right on schedule. My weight has remained the same, breasts aren't as tender anymore. Everyone reacts differently to BC pills so it's important to find the brand that works for you, but my experience with Lo Loestrin FE has been completely positive so far.Read More Read Less

Am I pregnant? No. That's the only good thing about this pill. I have gained 15 pounds in a month and a half, that's with diet and exercise. I can sleep for 12 hours at a time and still be exhausted throughout the day. I have had two migraines that were completely dehabilitating within the first month of taking the pill. My breasts are crazy sore and coming from someone who has PCOS and an abundance of testosterone... I am feeling like crazy sensitive psycho female. No more laid back chill girl, I can cry at the flip of the switch or turn into the Hulk if someone looks at me wrong. My doctor asked me to stick with it for at least two months before making up my mind. I'm giving it another two weeks and if things don't start to balance out, I am done.Read More Read Less

GOOD: No periods, 10 pounds lost. BAD: Breaking out, skin has lost it's glow, yeast infections I'm 33 and have suffered from abnormally long and heavy periods(up to 3 weeks long, talk about being depressed) for the last 13 years. I have tried multiple hormone and birth control pills, even tried the bio-identicals and nothing worked. I had been to multiple doctors in the NYC area and none of them could figure out what was going on. 10 months ago my doctor suggested taking Lo Loestrin Fe since it had a very low dose of estrogen, 10mcg. The first 2 months I spotted and was emotionally a little off but I can happily say I have not had a period since and since I've suffered with constant periods for the last 13 years I welcomed NO PERIODS! Besides being able to have a normal sex life again, I lost 10 pounds. All of the bloating and sugar cravings went away. I used to wake up in the morning thinking about what I was going to eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner and now I'm not thinking about food all day long. I also feel like my metabolism has revved up. I can still eat my ice cream and have my snacks but it doesn't stick to my thighs like it used to. It has been a wonderful change. The only downside is my skin has lost it's glow and I'm constantly breaking out. In the past I maybe had 1 breakout a year now the minute 1 pimple goes away 2 more pop out. I also started getting yeast infections, 1 every couple of months. Starting in January I'm going to switch to the Loestrin 20 which has 20mcg of estrogen and see if that helps with my skin and hopefully keep periods light. Good Luck!!!!Read More Read Less
