Don't be scared by all these reviews. Happy people don't write reviews lol. I have been taking this for 3 months with the biggest issue being breakthrough bleeding/spotting. It's tolerable and otherwise side effects have been OK. I gained maybe two pounds and I think it was all in my boobs.

At first, I loved this form of birth control, I was actually loosing weight. Small break through bleeding, no acne, no cramping, great libido, everything was fine for me. Well I ran out of the 5 samples I received from my doctor and I recently switched to the generic form of lo-loestrin due to insurance and costs. It's been about 4 months and I'm miserable, I hate myself, I get sad or mad about th...

I took Loloestrin Fe for a little over 1 year. My results throughout my treatment were wonderful, in terms of not becoming pregnant, no worsening in my skin, and I never once had a full period! I had some slight spotting a few months after starting, but nothing since then. I switched my prescription today actually, and that is because I believe it caused me to have mood swings and become very irritable. I switched to Generess Fe, and after the reviews I just read on this same website, I don't know which birth control I'm better off with! Yikes!Read More Read Less

I began taking this medication to treat and regulate my severe and very painful periods, as well as birth control. I've always had severe side effects with birth control. Last one I used before Lo Loestrin was NuvaRing, which had some AWFUL side effects (constant nausea, horrible mood swings, loss of appetite, etc.) With Lo Loestrin, I have had almost no side effects, aside from some unpredictable breakthrough bleeding the first couple of months and some easy-to-manage headaches. They've also made me slightly more emotional than I normally am. But my periods are very light and last for maybe 2 days with minimal PMS. And my sex drive with my boyfriend is a lot stronger than it was without it. Taking the pill every day is a little annoying at first, but you get used to the routine pretty quickly. Each person will always react differently to medications. But this has been the medication that has worked the best for me.Read More Read Less

I have been taking Lo Loestrin Fe for 2 and a half months- which coincides almost exactly with the time that I have been engaged. I wanted my body to get used to birth control before the wedding. I haven't had a period since I started taking Lo Loestrin, which I find very stressful. My breasts have been very tender and lumpy feeling, which is also stressful, since breast cancer is a fear of mine (not to mention the unpleasantness). I have been extra tired, irritable, and depressed since I started taking this. Since these feelings have overlapped almost exactly with the time of my engagement, it's hard to tell if it's caused by the birth control or stress of being engaged. However, I feel like i am going crazy, because i love my fiance, and we've been together for 7 years, in love the whole time, and I don't know why I am stressed. i have been attributing the depressed/tired feelings to just the impending change and having to quit my job to move to a new city with my fiance in a few months. However, I'm so looking forward to the change and thought my body may have been exhibiting stress my mind isn't feeling. Only very recently did I realize that it might by the birth control. I'm still not sure, but that would make more sense. I am going to stop taking it to find out. This is the first birth control I have ever tried.Read More Read Less

So far things have been pretty good for me. I started on the day of my period (which were really heavy, painful, lasted about a week, and way irregular). After my period stopped I noticed some spotting the first week, but other than that, I have had very few problems. My breasts have been quite tender (and possibly got bigger?), and I have gotten slightly moodier, but neither of these have been a problem up to this point. My sex drive has even increased which is saying something considering it was pretty high to start with. At this moment in time, I have no complaints at all. Read More Read Less

I have PCO and havent had a period in over a year. I have never been on BC and my gyn decided that I should take this Lo to treat it. She gave me a pill to restart my period. When my period started a month ago I started taking the BC and I had a period for over a month. I had the worst cramps of my life, not sure if I should change the pill now, or wait a few more months

I was on LoLoestrin for three months and it was a horrible experience. I had severe mood swings and was extremely emotional. It made keeping a functional relationship with my boyfriend very difficult. I went off of it and am now about to try a different pill, hopefully this one will have better side effects!

I hate this pill. Soon after starting it I had a lot of nausea, not that big of a deal. I had my period 3 weeks out of one month... so annoying. Then I started getting the SEVERE breast tenderness. I gained almost 10 lbs. Recently, I missed 5 days of school because I was so tired I couldnt get out of bed. My heart would race, but at the same time I would have unexplainable weakness and fatigue. I went to get blood tests done to see if I was anemic or had mono but everything came back fine. I dropped the pill immediately. The spotting, irregularity, fatigue, boob pain and weight gain left me with no positive reason to stay on it. Not the mention the ridiculous discharge I have all month. It's like I couldnt even go a normal day without being paranoid that "Aunt Flow" would show up AGAIN. Ugh...Read More Read Less

I have only been on this for a few months but so far I am totally not impressed. This is the first time that I have missed my period and I am totally freaking out! I have had a wicked weight increase and my acne is awful. So frustrating!!!!

I was originally prescribed Loestrin two years ago. The scrip was switched when the brand changed the name (same drug, new name). I've been on it for two years, and have never once had a regular period. I spot every two weeks, or if I have sex a certain way, it triggers spotting. My body did not change, I did not experience mood swings or anything else crazy, but the irregularity is no good. I stopped taking it this month and plan on switching scrips.

I tried this for 2 months. I didn't start it when I was supposed to bc my gyn didn't tell me any specifics, so it completely threw off my cycle, I bled 3 times in the 1st month, and the 2nd month I got my period, which was a little lighter, it stopped for a day and then started up again, but was still overall lighter than usual. I did feel sick to my stomach in the beginning, which is stated as a side effect. I liked that the pills are so discrete, they fit in my wallet and isn't a super bulky plastic thing. I did get a lot of breast pain, I couldn't sleep on my stomach at all, and I think my size went up a little too bc bras don't fit the same anymore. The main reason for me stopping though is the cost, not covered by my insurance (UHC)so it's $85 a month for me. Switching over to free Microgestin FE.Read More Read Less

My daughter is entering puberty and so her hormonal fluctuations really messed up my cycle. I had 5 full blown periods in 9 weeks. I finally went to the OB/GYN and she put me on this pill. I had no weight gain, no abnormal moodiness, my breasts did grow a full cup size, but that's not a complaint. It levelled out my cycle and made my normally horrible cramps bearable. This is a great product.

I did not have a good experience with Lo Loestrin Fe. I had extreme tenderness and soreness in my boobs. The sore feeling was ALL the time and not just during my period. I switched to Junel Fe which is a similar generic verison that is great. The periods do last longer but are light and there were NO side effects. I would recommend to anyone starting on BC Junel Fe.

I started taking this pill when I was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries at 27, I had a cyst on my left ovary that measured 5.7 cm. It was very painful and I hadn't had a period in 3 months when I started LoLoestrin. I had on/off period for the for the first 2 months- I actually bled 26 days total the first 2 months! At my 6 wks follow up, my ultrasound showed that my cysts were gone. The BC did what I needed it to do so I'm happy. Side effects I had were headaches, spotting, occasional mood swings and abdominal pain which mostly improved after about a month but I rather have the side effects than the cyst pain any day! I''ve tried other pills in the past and this one is my favorite although expensive!Read More Read Less

I took this pill to control my long and heavy periods, which it does perfectly. However, I wish I would have a regular period each month and not skip months. Also, I have experienced an increase in yeast infections. I went from never having ine to experiencing 4 in my first year on the pill. But those are my only major complaints; my acne has cleared up and I no longer have terrible cramping.

I started taking this pill about four months ago. Since then, i have had constant cramps. Every day I deal with cramping, not to mention the breakthrough bleeding. The second month, my period lasted 14 days. And this is the second month my period was completely skipped. Scary! I didn't notice any weight gain or loss, and I didn't get any acne at all. Those reasons alone are why I stay on this pill.

I gave this pill five stars for Effectiveness and Ease of Use, because it did prevent pregnancy which was my main reason for taking it and it was simple to use. However, I gave the satisfaction one star, because the side effects I experienced were far too terrible to bear. It made my acne way worse, hardly gave me any period at all which worried me for a while since a period is usually a good indicator of not being pregnant, my period only just became regular after five months, I am incredibly exhausted and just completely drained every day no matter how much sleep I get or how well I eat to the point where I'm light-headed and can hardly function, etc etc. It also made me gain several pounds and gave me slightly large breasts, but those are actually pluses for me. These symptoms, however, are only minuscule compared for my main reason for stopping it. (other than the fact that I lost my insurance and paid $105 last month out of pocket) The worst side effect of all was the depression. I have struggled with depression in the past, but I was the happiest I had ever been right before taking this pill. Once I started this pill, I was right back to my lowest point. I have had strong urges to harm myself and even die. I feel a strong sense of worthlessness, sadness, guilt, and despair every day. I went from engaging in activities I loved to doing nothing but work. I had to drop two courses at college and barely passed the other two. I am way more irritable and moody and cry for no reason. I also went from having sex at least a few times a week to once every couple weeks. I am usually someone who is strong and willing to just fight through things and wait them out, but I couldn't with this after five months. Losing my insurance gave me no choice but to stop taking this, and though it sucks that I'm no longer insured, I am ecstatic to be off of this pill. I just started Beyaz, so we'll see how this goes. Keep in mind that this is just my own personal experience.Read More Read Less

My doctor out me on this drug to help with mood swings and depression around my period (I am 52 years old) and experiencing some symptoms of menopause including erratic cycles. I took it for 10 days before having to stop it abruptly. I experienced headaches almost every day (including one debilitating migraine which kept me home from work) enlarged breasts, major water retention, fuzzy thinking, moods all over the place, spotting. Please note that your experience may not be the same, but I did want to share this.Read More Read Less
