I have been on this medication for approximately 6 weeks. I have tried several other cholesterol meds but nothing worked and I had extreme joint pain while on the other meds. After one month, my cholesterol dropped from 260 to 140. My tri dropped from 390 to 240. My dr also had me take 5000 units of Vitamin D one week prior to starting the Livalo and continuing for two weeks after I started th...

I have tried five different statins. This one supposedly has less side effects. Grr, I have severe itching and rash on my leg. The pain in my left foot/toe is excruciating. I can barely walk. Good bye statin 6. My sister is in her 70's and has high chol and is doing fine. She tried them all and the side effects about killed her. I'll take my chances. It lowered the numbers, but if you feel bad and have awful affects, it's not worth it to me.

I have been taking Livalo about 5-6 months. Recently developed moderate shoulder and back pain along with increased urination. Enzyme test revealed likely muscle tissue break down. Had to stop Lipitor for same reason. Stopping Livalo. Back to fish oil, baby asprin and Welchol

I have not tolerated any statin drugs in the past. Have familial high cholesterol and decided not to worry too much as mom lived to 93 without heart disease. At age 64 I just had a quadruple bypass 6 weeks ago. MD started me on 2mg Livalo 2 weeks ago. Increasing malaise and flu like symptoms started a few days ago. Guess I will stop this med and look into a diet/ exercise solution. Also my insurance company will not pay for the med, and CVS wants $174.00 for 30 days supply.

My doc put me on 4 mg right off the bat without discussing dosing with me. I am sensitive to medications and often do better on lower doses. I have only taken this 1 week, but have experienced, head aches, irritability and depression. I take prozac for depression and I won't accept a drug that causes it. I am also very fatigued, almost to the point of disfunction. Other statins caused unacceptable pain. I am considering major diet changes rather than experience these side effects. Frankly, life isn't worth living with them.Read More Read Less

Although I have been satisfied with this medication, I have developed a reaction - severe low back, lower leg and foot pain. I've had swelling in my left ankle appearing almost as knots a well as a swollen looking knot on my left lower leg. All of this appeared on a Friday evening, of course, I stopped taking livalo and will contact my doctor on Monday. Has anyone else experience these symptoms?

I have been on Livalo for 10 months, after 2 weeks, i started getting intense leg cramps & toe cramps. Reported this to my doctor and he cut my doseage to 2g from 4g. my next blood test showed quite an improvement. my trigliserides went down to from 500 to 250. But I told him that I didnt want to take Livalo anymore because I just wanted to get my trigliserides down and then quit them as I was having too many strange things happening to me. but I was determined to try to get my Tri down. But I still had to get down some more. so he put me on 1g per day. I still get the painful leg and toe cramping, the cramping lasted too long, then leaving my muscles sore the next day. and now I have what looks like tiny red spots on top of my feet and toes. Looks like Petechia. and also been having dreams at night that are so vivid and seem so real. this was scary. Also could not focus on anything, and my attention span was getting less and less. My hair is falling out and I wearing wigs now. I am due for another test soon, and I am going to stop taking the Livalo no matter what. I havent felt good for 10 months. Even though Livalo was very effective in lowering my TRI. It is not worth it to me. I rather diet for the rest of my life than to continue taking these pills. Read More Read Less

Tried several other stations, side effects were unbearable. Tried 2 g livalo for 5 weeks, numbers dropped significantly. Total Cholesterol dropped from 319 to 204 in 5 weeks. Biggest complaint I have is the sleeplessness. Wide awake in 1-2 hours after taking pill. Minimalist & toe cramping. Extremely tired. Will try taking pill first thing in the morning.

Taking Livalo 1mg every other day for four months now. Had severe shoulder pain in both shoulders at night. Trouble sleeping. Lower back pain. All at various times during administration. Now experiencing irregular and sometimes rapid heartbeat. Going back to cardiologist tomorror to discuss / review issues. Have always had trouble with statin drugs. Doc said try Livalo, so I did.
