I was prescribed Flonase and started taking it every day - my sinus problems were gone instantly. HOWEVER, after six weeks of using the drug, I have finally located the source of stress in my life: FLONASE. I have been overly anxious, unable to focus, filled with anxiety that I didn't even think I had (causing me to make some VERY bad decisions), unable to sleep properly, having very vivid dream...

Because I’m petite, I took the children’s version of Flonase. Worked great for my allergies, but soon developed alarming heart palpitations. After a month, I went to a cardiologist who did a multi-day test to track my heart rate and the results showed PVCs and SVTs and he prescribed a beta blocker. I was terrified as I was only 39. Just before starting the beta blockers, I realized the abnormal beats were gone and the only thing I did different was stop taking the children’s Flonase. I notified my cardiologist to warn him about the risks of this medication. I can’t imagine what would have happened if I tried the adult dose. Read More Read Less

I started taking flonase, two squirts in the morning, daily, for 8 days. Had a panic attack at work the next day. Extreme anxiety, insomnia, tingly feeling in arms and neck, suicidal ideation, loss of appetite, loss of smell, loss of libido, and depression. I was 38, happy, active, and healthy and this has turned my life upside down. I could hardly work and had to ask my HR for workplace accommodations. Google "Steroid Induced Psychosis" and "HPA axis" to learn more about this rare reaction. DO NOT TAKE Prednisone or other steroids if you had this happen. There is a great discord link below for people who need a support group to talk to that has been super helpful in my recovery of now 6 weeks.

This is a very dangerous medication for some people. This medication should have a black box warning. This medication has systemic effects which can severely impact your mental and physician health. Started taking Flonase 6 weeks ago and noticed I was struggling with feeling very winded in my weekly workouts. By week 6 I could barely get through my normal workout without feeling like I was going to collapse. Intermittent feelings of anxiety also started to progress. Shortness of breath and chest tightness became severe, nausea and stomach pain, weakness and fatigue. I could barley make it through a shower due to severe weakness. After seeing two different doctors and going to the ER because I thought I was dying I stopped the Flonase. This sent me into a very scary withdrawal which intensified all the symptoms I already mentioned including a severe panic attack and very dark thoughts that sent me back to the ER for a second time. Finally, nearly a week after stopping this medication I am starting to feel better though still experiencing gastric issues. I felt like I was going crazy until I saw all the reviews citing similar experiences. Be careful!!Read More Read Less

Do not take this drug. It has been the worst time of my life. Anxiety through the roof, insomnia, depression, feeling dizzy and out of breath, diarrhea, quality of life has diminished. This drug will make it so hard to do day to day tasks. Even a walk around the neighborhood is hard. This company should be sued and the medics who prescribe this stuff need to be more aware this is a STEROID….. with harmful side effects. On my 5th week off and still feel persistent symptoms.

I was prescribed Fluticasone for my allergies & Eustachian Tube Dysfunction. At first, I felt relief, but then out of nowhere I started having daily anxiety & panic attacks. And I’ve never suffered from anxiety in the past. I’ve taken this medication on & off for 3 months but it wasn’t until yesterday that I realized that THIS is what has given me anxiety! I stopped using Fluticasone 4 weeks ago bc I experienced a nosebleed. I wanted to give my nose a break. I took notice that the daily anxiety & panic attacks turned into a panic attack once or twice a week. Well, I’m still “stuffy” & decided to turn back to Fluticasone. Since then, I’ve had a panic attack every day & have been anxious throughout the day for no reason. NO MORE FLUTICASONE FOR ME! Read More Read Less

I was prescribed Flonase for Sinus Infections. After a few weeks of being on it, I started experiencing INTENSE panic attacks! Along with the feeling that I can't breathe, that my throat is tightening up, that my chest is tight, and my heart feels like it is racing and hurts. I ended up in the ER and again at the doctor's office. It has been 3 weeks since my last dose and I am still battling anxiety, panic, feelings of derealization and like I want to crawl out of my own skin! I have missed work because of this and it has been literal hell.Read More Read Less

I started taking this on the advice of my physician. I started using 1 spray twice a day for 3 days, and then once a day. About two or three days in, I began to have insomnia. Then I had the worse panic attacks of my life that lasted over an hour. I had neck pain and back pain and tightness like a band around my chest. I could only shallow breathe and kept fighting to get a deep breath in. I was on the verge of an ambulance, but prayed and Jesus calmed it down. Also, I have never felt so angry. Will chunk this in the trash and use Neti Squeeze saline. Read More Read Less

I started using this for severe allergy conditions. It was east to use, helped the allergies, but I got severe anxiety and couldn't sleep. I will stop using this medication. The nurse at the doctor's office said it can't cause anxiety. I don't believe that to be true afyer reading other reviews and my experience.

This medication is horrible. Did not help my allergies. Horrible side effects. Rapid heart rate and high blood pressure. Made nasal congestion horribly worse as well as the post nasal drip. Horrible cough. Eyes very irriated and watery. Nauseous stomach. Tense muscles. Feeling very cold. Ear pain and clogged worse. Mood swings.

Within 12 hours of my first dose, I had a psychotic experience where I completed a 1 hour group exercise class and was sitting on a chair in the studio disoriented and confused with no memory of the prior 30 mins. My instructor said I finished the class but was unusually quiet and sedate. She described to me what we did and didn’t see anything usual from how I participated physically. So my body was alert but my mind didn’t record memories of what I was doing. Scary. I immediately experience extreme anxiety, panic attacks, fear, intrusive thoughts, adrenaline surges, rapid heart rate, night waking with fight/flight response and more. It was 6 days of craziness before I found askapatient.com and saw that these severe mental health issues are side effects of Flonase. I stopped right away and am praying that I will return to normal soon. This experience was a nightmare. I will never use Flonase again. Read More Read Less

While this nasal spray successfully cleared my sinuses, it also gave me crippling anxiety. Made my heart race every time I took it for hours on end. I only took it for 3 days- haven’t taken it today and my heart is still racing. Funny how doctors ask about your anxiety levels and then proceed to prescribe you something that is KNOWN to increase anxiety and heart rate. Do not take this.

Taken for about 3 years almost daily. Decided to stop cold-turkey about 6 weeks ago. A few days later had the worst panic attacks of my life. I have a history of anxiety, but this was something completely different. For the past 6 weeks I have been having daily panic attacks the early ones lasting for 3+ hours, rendering my entire day a loss. I decided to try taking the flonase again, and it dramatically reduced panic attack symptoms, though I still get them daily. I am now back on the flonase and experiencing daily anxiety, jitteriness, mood swings, depression, dizziness, and a slew of other weird physical anomalies. I am confident it is the flonase since my daily, morning panic attacks have seemed to subsided. But I am clearly physically, psychologically, or both dependent on whatever is in this. I have been to all the doctors except endocrinology to see if there is a cortisol/adrenal issue going on. Brain MRI, heart, and blood and urine workup all show normal. It definitely worked to clear up my allergies, but it has damaged my life severely. I can no longer drive a car confidently without anxiety, nor do I have any physical stamina left. Something sinister is going on that is not strictly 'in my head'.Read More Read Less

Caused SEVERE sinus headaches and cause my VISION to get bad.
My doctor said to use this for at least a month for postnasal drip, and it worked GREAT for that.
The side effects we awful! after 5 days it caused a severe sinus headache daily but worse yet it caused my vision to get worse.
I noticed the vision issue about the same time as the headaches started, I could no longer see the clock next to my bed. I just had my eyes checked in February and they were fine due to the Flonase I had to have them rechecked, and sure enough i now need new glasses.Read More Read Less

The new misting Flonase dispenser is definitely "not ready for prime time"! Sometime it works. Sometimes it doesn't. It sounds & feels the same in either case, so you do not know if you have received a dose or not! The older method might be less efficient - but only if the misting
dispenser happens to work! I can't tell if I get a dose each time I try or not. Try just shaking it then misting it into the air. You will see that it only sometimes works!

It absolutely does work to clear up your sinuses but you trade one problem for five more. I started having daily headaches, heart racing from minimal exercise, dizziness, feeling like I was gonna pass out. This stuff is going right in the garbage can!
