This medicine makes me very bloated before it actually passes through my system. It's not as effective as I thought it would be.

I have many allergies and hypersensitivities. Milk products among them. Before prescribed this med., I was experiencing yeast infection due to steroid use for eczema of the scalp. The high lactulose content I feel has counteracted treatment for yeast infection. I currently use a double dose of stool softener and probiotic prescribed by Dr. as well and have not been advised to stop it. Referral to gastroenterologist pending to evaluate rectocele. Office assistant there advised increase yeast med. and continue Constulose. Pending info from primary Dr. Yeast infection is severe and most uncomfortable. Dr. did check A1C level prior to Rx which was normal. So I feel the prolonged steroid use is etiology. Retired as a clinical laboratory scientist there is a concern yeast may have become systemic. No vaginal manifestations. However, very unpleasant odor.Read More Read Less

I was told I might have IBS because I get sever stomach aches at least monthly that the cramps last approx. 3 to 8 hours. While in these pains I sweat, cramp so bad I can not stand straight, I feel like I have to go to the bathroom and stay in there the duration but seem to not go and after to the point of passing out from pain and blood pressure shooting so very high they finally subside. This medication after 40 minutes of taking it I got the same pains I got the medication to help relieve. I was in the bathroom all night using the bathroom with the same sever pains to the point of passing out again. I'm so fearful to take it again I thought the reason for the medication was to help with the stomach pains I was having not making me go into the same pains. BUT it for sure worked to make me use the bathroom all night until the point I was only passing water. I'm scared of this stuff but did taste good if you like drinking sugar syrup Read More Read Less

I take this because I take narcotic pain medicine and I had liver problem. It tastes good and I use it with magnesium sulfate. I drink one gallon of water per day for bowel and I use a bowflex to exercise. I am very satisfied with the results but you need to drink enough water throughout the day to make everything work correctly. I drink the sulfate 1.5 ounces three times per day and the constulose 30mls twice per day.

I myself don't take the drug, but my 5 years old twins do and fo them Lactulose has been very effective. They have a bowel movement at least once to twice daily. And the bowel is not hard or mushy. I would recommend that people ask their doctor's about this for their bowel problems.
