BP running consistantly at least 150/100, hot flashes (perimenapause), SOB, nervous, heart palpitations interfering with sleep, Hyper or exhausted, no in-between. Was placed on two different anti-depressants and HCTZ, had allergic reactions to all. Smart physician suggested clonidine and I now have BP of 120/80 or lower, no more palpatations, hot flashes greatly decreased, and I'am able to relax. ...
DO NOT GIVE YOUR CHILD THIS DRUG. My mother took me off this med when I was prescribed for ADD because i was experiencing muscle twitches in my jaw. I almost experience mental retardation if it weren't for her taking me off of it.

My 8 yr old has been taking this for about 2 mnths before bed. Doesn't slow him down a bit as far as making him sleepy, still a constant struggle to get him into bed. Now once there he does seem to have less tossing and turning throughout the night. Still talks (makes sounds) throughout the night.

I take a oral chemo "Nexavar" that is known to make your blood pressure go very high, which mine did, both numbers over 200, so through trial and tribulation, taking one 0.2 tablet twice a day with the chemo fixed the problem,I have been taking this since March 2008. I have stage four kidney cancer.

Clonidine is an absolutely great drug, as it treats my ADHD, but clonidine doesn't help me sleep, which is what my doctor prescribed it for. I feel more calm when I take Clonidine, but the dry mouth is just awful.

I used Clorpres for many years. The cost was over one hundred a month, so I went with Clonidine. The Clorpres has a diuretic in it, but otherwise it is just Clonidine. My biggest problem is hair loss. I am finding it too annoying. My hair was fine with Clorpres. The BP numbers are okay. I went through over 17 prescriptions before settling on the Clorpres, and I feel I need to go looking for something else or resolve myself to a hundred dollars a month for medication.

After being on numerous medications for high BP, which stopped being effective after some time, my doctor put me on the clonidine patches, that I changed every 72 hours. OMG, I thought we had finally hit on the wonder drug for hypertension. Well, it turned out that I could not tolerate the adhesive on the patch. My body looked like a patchwork quilt. I was then put on the pills that worked as well as the patch for hypertension but they make me soooo sleepy. I fall asleep in mid sentence. If I know I have quite a bit of driving to do, I wait until later to take it. My sister fell asleep driving several times when she was on it, thank God she did not get into any accidents. I did not experience these side effects when I used the patch, I really wish I could figure out some way I could go back to the patches without the allergy to the adhesive. Any suggestions? I have injuries and take other meds for pain and muscle spasms so everything dries my mouth to the point where my tongue is stuck to my palate. I'm sure with all of the meds I take they are all drying out my mouth and the biotene does not work. The rheumatologist told me to suck on sour candy, it does help.Read More Read Less

clonidine for me has been a life saver, after three doctors and twenty or so blood pressure kinds of pills, clonidine worked best for me. it is not perfect but works great 99 percent of the time.
