I had severe headaches that would last 24/7 for weeks at a time. I was at the end of my rope. The only way I could stop the pain was to go to the hosiptal and get a Compazine i.v. I'd go home and sleep it off and a day later the headache would come back. If I weren't a mother I would have considered ending it. Absolutely nothing else worked. When I started taking this drug I had very strange d...

This medication is poison. I suffered from insomnia, fear and depression. Coming off was 10 days of misery. Don’t take it!!!!

I take this pill because I get migraines. I've been taking them for about 14 years. I used to take 2 a day, but now I take them only when I get a migraine. sometimes it's only once or twice a month.

I had been taking ibuprofen (the only medication that would take the edge of my pain) for over 30 years. I know it is bad for my liver and other organs, so I inquired into other means of pain management. Nortriptyline was prescribed to me and within 3-4 weeks the pain was managed and I was a happy patient.

I've been on nortriptyline for about 2 months. Am taking for depression and secondary for tinnitus (which hasn't improved). My depression and anxiety has improved. I take 75 mg at night. I was previously on Effexor which worked great but went off it and depression/anxiety returned. The only side effect so far is the dry mouth. I don't have the constipation that most discuss here.

I am taking nortriptyline for depression. Although it sounds as if most people here are taking it to treat headaches. I've only been taking it for about a month and it has already improved my depression. I do have the side effect of dry mouth but it seems to come and go...anyway so far so good. I'm taking 75mg at night. It also helps me sleep and I don't have to take a sleep med.

Came off of aminytryptyline and was put on Nortriplyn. This drug was fine until I was so constipated, I couldn't move my bowels. This is not a good drug for me to take. I have never had so much difficulty in having a bowel movement. I'm suppose to take 3 different kinds of stool softners, so that's 9 pills, I am very disappointed that this drug has created this issue for me.

Taking for migraine, 75mg 2-3 hrs before bedtime. Migraine frequency has reduced from 4-5 a week to 4-5 per month. This is a huge life improvement for me, my family and I are so happy! The drowsiness side effect became less pronounced after 2 months, during that time I was taking it earlier in the evening so it would be more worn off in the morning. The worst side effect is dry mouth so I use the usualtricks of sipping water and ice chips. Use a gentle formulas of toothpaste, and a final rinse with mild salt water to soothe. Read More Read Less

I started this medicine a few months ago for chronic headaches/migraines. I was literally losing 40-50% of my life to headaches that were so bad I couldnt enjoy anything. Knock on wood, but I havent had a single headache since I started this medicine. I only take 20mg a day. I have had no side effects really, it may make me sleepy but I take it at night. I would recommend this drug to ANYONE with chronic headaches. The worst that could happen is you have to stop taking it. It has literally improved my quality of life. So thankful for it. This really helped my migraines... I still get headaches but not as frequently or severly. It has side effects that I actually really loved. I slept MUCH better on it and I found myself to be far less neurotic. My dr. told me to take it at night, but I found that it made me wired. I take it in the morning and it doesn't make me sleepy but at night when I go to sleep I fall right to sleep (not normal for me, but very welcome). Only side effect that I did not like was the increased heart rate. I work out a lot and it sometimes scared me. I am used to it now however. Read More Read Less

Helped start the onset of my depression almost a year ago. I had to quit taking the pills after about five months. While taking them I felt depressed and suicidal
