I had severe headaches that would last 24/7 for weeks at a time. I was at the end of my rope. The only way I could stop the pain was to go to the hosiptal and get a Compazine i.v. I'd go home and sleep it off and a day later the headache would come back. If I weren't a mother I would have considered ending it. Absolutely nothing else worked. When I started taking this drug I had very strange d...

This medication is poison. I suffered from insomnia, fear and depression. Coming off was 10 days of misery. Don’t take it!!!!

I was suffering a severe fibro fog with lots of confusion, pain and concentration. I began to have severe problem talking and communicating. I was prescribed this medicine to see if it helped my condition. Well, it did get things back in order but I start having difficulty sleeping dr., had stopped trazadone (am an insomniac), got reflux, hot flashes/sweating and dizziness w/headache (front). I've taken Neurotin for my severe migraines for 10+ years and it works wonderfully. Dr. took me off nortripyline for one week and I had very severe side effects. I'm going to ask him if I can go back to my 20mg. dosage, because those side-effects were easier to handle. Read More Read Less

I've only been taking it for a few days. Doc gave it to me to help me sleep,I have MS,and sleep is very important for my over all health! Can't sleep at all on it,very anxious and irritable. Lack of sleep or side effect? Dry mouth is unbearable , I had salivary glands removed on left side due to SG stones. I really don't like this medicine!

I take 1 400mg pill everynight before bedtime. It has helped manage the pain in my feet extremely well. I also take a 100mg (1to4) during the day if my feet have become painful. I do not like to take during the day as it does make my sleepy.

After 2 months on this medicine it works great for my headaches and minor neck pain. I do not like the dry mouth which is an everyday occurance and has not gotten any better. I also have days that I feel very depressed, crying sometimes for no reason. That is not me at all. Has anyone experienced hair thining or slight hair loss. I have also experienced something strange. If I get a sore or a bug bite small bug bite, it seems to take forever to heal. Before I was on the medicine if I got a mosquito bite within a day or two it was gone. Now it's like a week and its not completely gone. Is this just a rare symptoms? Read More Read Less

I suffer from occipital neuralgia. It is the most painful condition. I wake up with full-blown headaches that last all day. I was seeing one doctor who prescribed Treximet, which provided some relief but did not take away all of the pain. I saw a neurologist who prescribed Nortriptyline. It has been a drug which has taken away my headaches. I highly recommend asking your doctor about prescribing this medication. I am pain free and as once again enjoying life.

The medication was working at first, then I started getting swollen ankles, dry mouth, and blurred vision. I will definitely stop using this. I'd rather deal with the pain from minor head injury.

I find it works well for depression. Of course, the side effects from taking 100mg. daily include constipation and some weight gain. All anti-depressants have side effects, but I can live with this as other meds tried have caused rashes.

I take this medication for depression resulting from death of husband. It works for me 35mg each night with a 5 mg Xanax. I also have IBS and this has made my IBS decrease by about 95%. I took it over 25 years ago after the loss of my son. At that time I gained weight but this time I walk about 1.5 miles/day and have not gained weight. Isn't anyone taking it for depression? What is with the pain medication? Use Fiorinal for headaches. Vicodin for other pain.

10 mg at night for occipital nerve problem. headache reduced by 90%. Side affects are the reason I stopped taking it. Thirsty all the time, problems sleeping and no monthly cycle and no sex drive. I'll go back to Baclofen and Advil.
