I had severe headaches that would last 24/7 for weeks at a time. I was at the end of my rope. The only way I could stop the pain was to go to the hosiptal and get a Compazine i.v. I'd go home and sleep it off and a day later the headache would come back. If I weren't a mother I would have considered ending it. Absolutely nothing else worked. When I started taking this drug I had very strange d...

This medication is poison. I suffered from insomnia, fear and depression. Coming off was 10 days of misery. Don’t take it!!!!

For over 20 years i've dealt with chronic pain thanks to a drunk driver. also had scar tissue growing over my colon from cancer surgery 30 years ago.this RX really made a difference and has helped a lot! only side effects are heart/chest pain, that they say will subside and i get terrible hot flashes that Dr.never heard of but I'm sure its connected. weight gain too, but i only take 10mg.1-2x/day so i can manage side effects? well... being without pain is worth the side effects really. I do sleep better and LOVE my dreams so that is a good side effect too!Read More Read Less

Prescribed for chronic, severe to acute headaches. Have taken for one month so far. There are days my headaches are a little better and days there is no change. I rated this medication as an overall 4 because when you wake up with a headache every day or your headache wakes you up in the middle of the night, relief on any level is a good thing! Hoping this medication will be more effective with time.

I started this about 2 weeks ago. Prior to this I had been taking 125mg of topamax a day. The topamax didn't help at all for sever daily headaches. This medicine was prescribed to me, first at 25mg then increased to 50mg. The 25 mg dose was extremely ineffective in treating my headaches. I also expierence side effects such as dry mouth, peeing more often, weight gain, loss of appetite, and mood swings.

I was scripted this medication to help with nerve pain while sleeping. I thought I had hit gold because right away I was sleeping better without my pain. Within a short amount of time (although I did not connect it until recently) I became confused and extremely anxious. After a month and a half of taking this med, I checked myself into the hospital. Of course, no one connected my symptoms with the medicine and instead said I had an anxiety and mood disorder. I was then put on a lot of new medicines. Read More Read Less

I was taking Norco for the pain with no side affects. I have the weight gain, the funky dreams and I get nasty with people. Not like me. I am going to go back to the Norco.

Started taking this for the pain and numbness in my outer thighs. It works great taking away the pain, but since I started it I now have Constant Ringing in my ears, and thought I was getting a UTI infection all the time but once ready side effects realized it was this medication. I have stopped taking it but side effects have not gone away.

Went from 4 headaches a week to 0. Changed my life in that aspect. But just traded headaches for gaining weight and sleeping ALL DAY. Had to stop medication after 2 years because of that. Headaches haven't come back except for a couple here and there, and lost 10 lbs with no diet change.

Nortriptyline was prescribed for Migraines that I get almost daily. I have not seen a decrease in frequency. Had 20 headaches last month. These meds make me dizzy/foggy. I feel like I am living on 2 hours sleep, but am getting plenty. Makes me very edgy/moody/adgitated. I am in a fog all the time and the constant loud ringing in my ears is very annoying.

Ive been on this medication for about 6 weeks now, slowly worked up from 10mg, 20, 30, 40 now 50mg. At first I felt I was feeling worse. For the first few weeks I was crying everyday so my psychiatrist added Lithium to help stabilize my mood. Honestly I don't feel like it does anything. With the lithium (3 weeks now) I'm not crying as much, still very emotional but able to hold it in better. Ive tried numerous medications and either feel worse or don't feel any different at all...like I may as well not even be taking anything. I always seem to have no problem gaining weight though. Fortunately I haven't experienced many of the common side effects associated with this medication. I have Dysthymia/Double Depression and bouts of anxiety. I am really losing hope that there is anything more to...this, or if this is how life will always be. Read More Read Less

I took it for migraines which worked very well. I had been on Topamax for over 5 years struggling with side effects and breakthru migraines. Although I didn't have but one real migraine in several months, I had a 15-20 lb weight gain and I started noticing a change in my personality. After a road rage incident in which my reaction scared me so bad I started driving a different way to work, I decided to stop taking it after about 3 months.
