I had severe headaches that would last 24/7 for weeks at a time. I was at the end of my rope. The only way I could stop the pain was to go to the hosiptal and get a Compazine i.v. I'd go home and sleep it off and a day later the headache would come back. If I weren't a mother I would have considered ending it. Absolutely nothing else worked. When I started taking this drug I had very strange d...

This medication is poison. I suffered from insomnia, fear and depression. Coming off was 10 days of misery. Don’t take it!!!!

I have been having dreams and thoughts about guns and shooting someone, i know there was something really wrong because I never thought like this before and now I'm having migraines in my left eye and that never happened before, i am going to stop taking it now and tell my doctor, I'm having major migraine pain in my eye, it started last night and I have not been able to sleep. I'm taking this medicine or better still "was" taking it and it has stopped the nerve pain but the side effects are bad. I use to take neurodin and that turned me into a zombie and this is not as bad but very different side effects, I need to go to sleep, i'm so burned out tired from not sleeping, I hope this helps someone else.Read More Read Less

I am on this med as a trial for fibromyalgia. It was supposed to help me rest better. I found that I have trouble sleeping at night if I take it before going to bed. For me, it seems to work best if I take it during the day. Didn't notice any mood changes, just that it winds me up.

I'm taking this at night for depression, but it takes care of several issues at the same time. For the fist time in years, I finally wake up well rested, I slept through the night, no headace from bruxing (night teeth cleanching/grinding) and I'm in a overall better mood. The only thing that bothers me is the xerostomia (dry mouth).

My DR. prescribed this med for my chronic migraines and daily regular headaches. I was taking 10-15 OTC pain relievers a day for the regular headaches and would have to go to the emergency room once a month or so to get an injection for migraines that would knock me out till the next day. I'm down to about 2-3 regular headaches a week and I'll still get a migraine about every 2-3 months (and I have Relpax for that now). So for what it was prescribed to do, it has done great. The side effects I have noticed are trouble sleeping, bouts of dizziness and decreased sex drive. I was also diagnosed with depression in '95 and have been on several different meds over the years, but have not been on anything for that for about 4 years. Since I started the Nortriptyline over a year ago, 50 mg at night, my depression is actually coming back. I just read today that Nortriptyline is also used for depression, but up to 3 times the dosage I am taking for headaches. I will be talking with my DR about my options going forward since my depression (bad enough that I feel I need to go back on a medication)is now a reoccurring thing that is coming around way more often than I (and my family) am comfortable with. But for the headaches, this has been the only med that gives me this much relief. Read More Read Less

This drug was given to me for headaches. I had headaches and felt unbalanced (not dizzy). The drug took care of the unbalanced feeling. I have been on it over a year and if I ever miss a dosage, it takes 3 to 4 days to get back to normal (normal is 90% for me currently). The headaches were a result of a sleep disorder. This drup worked for me on the unbalanced feeling.

I was taking this medications for sevre migrains that i have had for quite a long period of time. It worked really well to stop the headaches from occuring. Yet if i accidently forgot to take it one night i would suffer from a sevre migrain the next day. Ever 6 months or so i would begin to notice that the medicine wasnt taking any effect anymore and i was getting more and more headaches, and i would have to keep increasing the dosage. Finally after 3 years of taking it, i gave up on countiually increasing the dosage so i asked to switch medications. Now i am trying a medicine called "zonisamide" and we will see what effects it has C:Read More Read Less
