I had severe headaches that would last 24/7 for weeks at a time. I was at the end of my rope. The only way I could stop the pain was to go to the hosiptal and get a Compazine i.v. I'd go home and sleep it off and a day later the headache would come back. If I weren't a mother I would have considered ending it. Absolutely nothing else worked. When I started taking this drug I had very strange d...

This medication is poison. I suffered from insomnia, fear and depression. Coming off was 10 days of misery. Don’t take it!!!!

Taking 10mg nightly for longstanding gastric pain that does not respond to proton pump inhibitors all the time. Within 4 days of starting was finally able to sleep more than 2-3h per night. Recently experiencing agitation, raised heart rate, nightmares and panic attacks. Will be ceasing medication. Hope the effects last after stopping.

I went from Amitriptyline to nortriptyline due to seizures. Amitriptyline worked for my nerve pain, but caused me seizures. Nortriptyline didn't do anything for my nerve pain. I got worse all over again

Helps with the depression by moderating mood swings and keeping me from getting depressed. Levels my moods. My side effetcs have been unusual amont of sweating, dry mouth, less sexual physical sensitivity, and desire to eat. I went off the drug once (my own choice) and tried herbal meds but crashed and was hospitalized in psych ward for a week. Went back on nortrip and have been fine.

I've had peripheral Neuropathy for a long time in my feet. I've tried Gabapentin, it didn't work. I'm using Nortriptyline, I've been on it for 3-4 weeks...it's working... NO pins/needles feeling, no burning sensation! I still have some pressure in my feet, but things are much better now than before taking it! I'm going to give it more time. I understand it may not work for everyone, but so far it's working for me. If you are looking for something, ask your doctor and try it, it might work for you. Best of luck as nobody should live with pain in this day and age. Read More Read Less

Nortriptalyne gave me some relief from my treatment resistant depression but it by no means returned me to the joy of living. The side effects were severe and included extreme fatigue, excessive sleeping up to 11/12 hours a day and nightmares/vivid dreams. It was effective at lifting some of my depression but it was not a long term solution.

Prescribed at low dose for sciatica. Took about 3 weeks but it works perfectly for me. Added bonus migraines are much less frequent when I am taking it. (not all the time).

I have only taken two doses and it is going into the trash! The past two night have been the most horrible five nightmaresI have ever had. I have had funky drums before but never ever this real. They can give these to someone else. Screw the side effects I am so done with this I am going back to my other prescribed medication I took before this one. As for my pain, I would rather deal with it on my own then ever take this again.

In short, I have chronic pain from permanent nerve damage association with a car accident, degenerative disc disease, and a transforaminal interbody fusion of L5-S1, and L4-L5; because of the trafficking in prescription narcotics, my physician is genuinely afraid to prescribe me T3s now even (took me off Vicodin over the same) and had me try gabasomething that gave me the same symptoms as this; in short, mental fog and fatigue lasting two says off a single dose; but more importantly, it caused severe erectile dysfunction that is lasting me days after; I hope I can wash its remnants from my system ASAP as I dislike using Viagra, et al; just know this like gaba____ will exacerbate an ED issues you may have (mine are sporadic and rare); in short, I don't know how to be noncrude here but I've NEVER been so small; you're talking as compact as your guy can physically get and there's no getting him out of his shell; Read More Read Less

My eyesight has always been poor. I am an optician and my eyes are my life. This drugs side effect made my vision "switch sides". I was a 3.50 in the right eye and a 2.50 in the left. Now this is reversed. I am also VERY dizzy when I get up after watching tv. I was caught by my husband when I fell into the wall going into the kitchen towards the rest room. I find I need to use the bathroom more often but not much happens. I have severe cramping in my abdomen but that could be from anything at this point. I take for migraines and nerve pain due to my syringomelia. I had severe headaches and random muscle spasms before taking. I was so used to the headaches before that they just became a part of normal life. I didn't get a single one in the first 10 days taking this med but I had forgotten how BAD tey were when one showed up. I switched my RX in my glasses and am headache free again...Just conserned that my vision with "switch back" as soon as I stop taking the drug.Read More Read Less

This med is amazing. I've had peripheral Neuropathy for a few years in my feet. I've tried Gabapentin, it didn't work. I tried Nortriptyline, I've been on it for 3-4 weeks...it's amazing... NO pins/needles feeling, no burning sensation! I still have some pressure in my feet, but things are so different now! I'm going to give it more time, but I think I found my holy grail! I understand it may not work for everyone, but so far it's working for me. If you are looking for something, ask your doctor and try it, it might work for you. Good luck to all of you!Read More Read Less

Prescribed this after trying Neurontin and Lyrica with all the side effects and no help. Been on it (dosage - 25 mg/1 daily) for a month now, lost the 7 pounds I gained on the above two drugs, pain is mostly gone in my feet and my appetite has been curbed. Had to switch from taking it at night to taking it during the morning due to it keeping my brain active and I couldn't sleep. Fingers crossed it keeps working at a low dosage.

Side effects included urinary problems such as the feeling of needing to urinate constantly but when urinating the pain was excruciating, passing fire is the only description I can think of. Sleep was nearly impossible because it caused frightening nightmares.
