Red Yeast Rice works...I started Red Yeast Rice 6-7 years ago to lower my borderline Cholesterol. It worked and lowered my cholesterol for 1-2 years. BUT Warnings about having the same side effects as statins worried me and I stopped RYR and the cholesterol levels increased again. I never started anything else and cholesterol levels stayed up. Further researched proved that all of these statin-li...

My cholestrol was at 248. I started taking two capsules of Red Yeast Rice along with one Omega 3 fish oil capsule, in less than 3 months my level was at 202 and all other levels were where they should have been. I would rather take this than statins anyday. I hae no side effects.

takihg 12oomg day red yeast rice and 2000mg flush free niacin[both puritan pride brand] and discontinued niacin due to it causing gout in right foot[very painful]after only 2 wks, tried to take niacin again and suffered another gout attack within 2 wks now have been off niacin for last 2 months and no gout,,friend who takes regular niacin informs me that flush-free niacin will seldomly reduce cholestrol anyways and only the regular niacin or prescription niaspan will reduce cholestrol and clear-out clogged arteries,,now im in the process of returning the 5 remaining jumbo jars of niacin for the regular type of niacin,,i figure any flushing side effects cant be as bad as the gout[it was actually too painful to walk],,figure ill give the niacin a fair trial before paying extra for niaspan,,many report great results with niacin..Read More Read Less

I started 1800 mg of red yeast rice capsules on May 11 when it was discovered my total cholesterol jumped from 199 to 320 after I asked to go off a prescribed cholesterol medicine due to leg cramps. I also added 4 grams of Omega3 Fatty acids. My doctor asked me come back in three and a half months--which will be August 24. Curious as how I was doing mid-waiting period, I walked into a new organization that would do lab work and had blood drawn. My reports came back at total 229. My ratio of total to HDL is 2.2. I am relieved that this supplement is working for me. I don't know what it will do for anyone else. I am just glad for the alternative. I have had no leg cramps or any other visible side effects on this dietary supplement.Read More Read Less

My Cholesterol was 275 when my sister told me about Red Yeast Rice. I went to Wal Mart and started adding the capsules, 2 a day, to my routine. Over the course of one and one half years my Cholesterol has dropped to 220. It may even ber lower since the last test was 8 months ago. A healthy and natural way to get heart healthy with no side effects.

I have taken red yeast rice and fish oil for 3 months and reduced total cholesterol from 291 down to 207, with HDL holding at 70 and LDL reduced from 210 down to 127. I had very slight and short-term muscle pain in upper arm, but that is no longer present. I tried this at my internist's suggestion. All the best to everyone reading this. Take good care.

This product reduced my cholesterol from 268 to 180 within 45 days. My HDL went from 33 to 49. My liver function tests are great and I have had no side effects. It cost me about $7.00 per month. I am a Family Nurse Practitioner and I have not seen these results as quickly using statins. I am recommending red yeast rice to my patients now.

After failure of one prescription drug and side effects of a second prescription drug, my doctor recommended I try red yeast rice. It lowered my cholesterol to normal levels and has kept it there for four years. Today I learned this product has been banned in the US by the FDA. I dread having to go back to the statins again.

My doc put me on this supplement when my cholesterol was over 240... I took is for 2 months after which we did another lab and cholesterol fell to 220! another 4 months and it was below 190.. other lipids were is great shape as well. however, for some reason i went off the red yeast rice and concurrent fish oil and after 6 months my cholesterol is WAY up higher than before... YOU bet I immediately went back on the red yeast rice fish oil and am anxiously awaiting my next lab relults!
