I have been taking creatine monohydrate for 2 months now. While I have taken the recommended dose (i.e., 5 grams a day, without loading phase), I have experienced great results (strength gain and no side effects). However, during that period, I decided to double my daily dose. Soon I started experiencing side effects: extreme fatigue (not attributable to dehydration)and cardiac arrhythmia (namely ...

As part of a daily exercise routine hill walking in North of England. Both myself and wife in our 70s and blessed with good health (in fact better than our 50s). So used with a small amount of whey powder mixed in water. I personally have realised more energy and also find weight training less of a strain and with better results. Neither of us are red meat eaters by the way, so this may have filled a void in diet. Micronised creatine and Gold Standard whey in powdered form (both). To sum up, we have never witnessed being dead - but the way we live and feel must be better (ha-ha).Read More Read Less

Works well but watch out for higher dosages. First time I started I used a higher loading dosage and then used probably 15 grams with my shake in the morning. Seemed to help workouts and muscle strength. However, testing BP went much higher than normal as high as 160/100. Once I took a break PB back to more normal range of 125/90. Back on it now and using just 5 Grams a day and BP is staying normal, muscle soreness is reduced and weight program going well.

As an amateur racing cyclist in my 20s 30s using creatine greatly improved my performance. Without creatine speed and stamina quickly dropped off. I only took it in racing season. Then in my early 60s I took it again for a few months when trying to maintain muscle mass. It certainly improved my muscle mass but when you stop taking it muscle size falls away. Kidney function is compromised to a degree, continuous use is not advised although they can recover over time. It's not a permanent solution but can help specific goals in sports short term.Read More Read Less

I have been working out for 3 years. And in the time that I have taken creatine it has helped me build muscle using the water you take when working out. Water is important when taking creatine monohydrate because it uses water to build muscle as I mentioned. I have not had a negative experience since I started taking it 3 years ago.

I strength train and I have been taking Creatine for more than a year now. It improved my overall performance in the gym and helped me in building muscle. Although I have an athletic physique and looked great before Creatine, the combination of Creatine and my workouts have considerably heightened my physical appearance.

Made me quite agressive after the first week and anxious and more numb to the things happening around, if you want it to be affective definetitly drink at least 4 liters of water because you get quite thristy. Overall was a good experience now i am cycling of for a bit. 16 years old.

Dosage: 5g QD for 60 days at ~185lbs b/w. Effects: increase in blood pressure Description: overall the creatine didn’t seem to do much of anything. It did however seem to greatly increase my blood pressure over time, however not to a dangerous level- about 105 systolic to 122 systolic.

Been using for about 1 year. Helped me look bigger and it's great for that but I also notice when I have too many cheat days that my muscles aren't as strong (in comparison to downtime without creatine). Mood swings and upset stomach are consistent but so are results. Works for some not all.

I started using Creatine Monohydrate for athletic performance a few months ago. I didn’t do a loading phase and instead opted to allow it to naturally adjust levels within my body. I took 5 grams daily. I normally drink about a gallon of water throughout the day so I didn’t have to adjust my water intake to coincide with the change. Overall it gave a very modest boost in athletic performance, I do Jacobs ladder daily at a steady pace of 50ft per minute and would generally do 10 minutes worth. However after starting supplementing with creative I was able to work my way up to 40mins on the machine. Along with my daily strength training I had some good moderate gains with strength overall. For example I previously would do machine crunches at 70ibs with 3 sets of 10. However I’m now able to do 120ibs with the same rep count and can even push past that count if I choose to continue. The only negative is that my body did bloat due to additional water weight, if you are new to creatine it may cause you to gain a large portion of water weight even without changing your intake. Overall I gained 8ibs, not all water but while in calorie deficit it’s a bit odd to have gained weight. I have since stopped supplementing with creative, which hasn’t hurt my athletic performance. I still retain the muscle mass and other cardio gains, etc that it was able to afford me. Though I’m finally cutting again. If you’re looking for a good supplement for additional energy and a boost in performance I highly recommend, just be aware of the potential for bloating due to water retention.Read More Read Less

I take this as Encour, the anti-aging supplement that also has Vitamin C. I've got diabetes so the sugar-free formula is great. It does cause you to feel thirsty, but I need to drink more water anyway so I see this as a benefit. This product is a low 3g daily dose, so I don't see any other side effects, only benefits. I wake up feeling more energized. I can tell when I am taking it, that my muscles are bigger and that my recovery is faster. I am more focused when taking it, and feel more in control. I found the product makes it easier for me to remember to take it because it's packaged in single dose drink sticks. The flavors of Encour also taste good - Lemon, Orange, Strawberry - so I enjoy it instead of juice or soda.Read More Read Less

I took this religiously when I was 15-16 years old. I did the loading and sustaining phases of dosing. TLDR: Pretty sure it messed up my bladder for the rest of my life and made me more prone to cramping during hard workouts. Especially when I go from conditioning to weight lifting. After taking creatine and the recommending amount of water intake I had to pee way more often. After I got off of it, due to EXTREME muscle cramps and getting tired of having to pee all the time, the feeling of having to pee all the time got better but never went back to normal. I still hit the bathroom before I drive anywhere and when I am over hydrated or have hit a certain threshold of caffeine I can't make it through a 50-minute class without a bathroom break, even if I went just before. I already have the genes for bodybuilding and athletics but it did help me make gains a little faster (I believe). I don't believe it was worth it in the long term. The worst of my cramps came after soccer practice 2-a-days. After which, I was laying at home watching TV and when I got up I was floored by 3 golf-ball-sized knots in one of my hamstrings. I Crawled to the front door and yelled for a neighbor to help. I would caution against anyone using creatine in sports where there are high levels of conditioning needed (wrestling, soccer, supercross, cross-country, etc.) After reading other responses I just realized this is about the time I got in trouble for anger issues. I never related it to creatine before, just to being an overly-testosteroned teenager but yeah, happened around the same time I was taking creatine.Read More Read Less

I started taking creatine 4 days ago for herpes. Wow. After suffering symptoms for 7 weeks, my symptoms are resolving and I feel much healthier and more energetic. I'm taking 4gm spread out through the day and I'll probably raise it to 5. I drink a lot of water to protect my kidneys.

I've been taking a creatine supplement on and off for a while now and I have to say, the results were really great. I do competitive sprinting and you have to do some pretty intense workouts to maintain your physique and skill. Since I've started taking creatine, my endurance, explosiveness, and just standard strength went up. I ran my new fastest 100 meter dash. On top of all of that, I've also witnessed minor changes in my body. My abs became more defined and my leg muscles and veins bulged out a lot more than usual. So yeah, I definitely am content with what I've gotten from it.Read More Read Less

Been using creatine on and off for exercise enhancement. It works for me. However, side effects I’ve noticed include some dizziness and nausea, especially if taken on an empty stomach. Maybe best to eat something after consuming.
