THE GARCINIA CAMBOGIA PILLS THAT CONTAIN THE FRUIT TAMARIND HAVE WORKED TO LOOSE WEIGHT. IN JUST ONE WEEK I HAVE LOST 2KG. I HAVENT BEEN ABLE TO DO THAT WITH EXERCISE AND EATING. THE ONLY DOWNSIDE IS THAT THE LAXITIVE EFFECT HAS LEFT ME FEELING UNCOMFORTABLE. I HAVE HAD CONTINOUS TUMMY ACHES AND NEED ACCESS TO A BATHROOM CONSTANTLY. A FEW HEADACHES AND JUST GENERALLY NAUSEA AND FEELING SICK.

Tamarind is also called "sampalok" in the Philippines. I bought the ripe fruit because they taste good, not knowing that too much would interact with foot pain. I woke up with cramps on my right foot & discomfort in my belly. I will watch how much I eat next time.??

Might have a laxative effect is an understatement. I have a weird obsession with tamarind and love eating it straight up. Sometimes I tend to go overboard and will have 1/4 of a block( you can buy them in block forms from Indian grocery stores) and I will end up spend half the day on the toilet peeing WATER. It is THAT strong of a laxative.

i'm not a doctor so please verify all this information and take it to your own dr to discuss if it's safe for you. idk,but i believe the other person was writing about "malabar tamarind" which is actually gamboogy. i think the scientific name of that plant is 'garcinia cambogia'.it's sometimes tried for weight loss. if she bought it in pill form she should contact the FDA about how that specific name brand has made her ill. that plant/fruit is totally different from Tamarind, which is known for treating constipation. it's a 6 inch brown seed pod which is easily opened.it's kind of sweet.it has a consistency of a sticky date. each small section has a hard pit in it (so be careful about the pits) eating real Tamarind in moderate amounts (you might need to adjust the amount) is a natural way to help with constipation. some grocery store produce departments have the Cooking variety but don't buy it.it's not sweet and not for eating 'fresh'. buy the tamarind at any asian market, usually in small boxes labeled 'sweet Tamarind'-i'm not sure if it will totally get rid of constipation from medication, but it works for me. 2 thumbs up on the seed pod type of tamarind.(there are also cooking paste,'candy, and drinks made of it) --check with your doc on which of the 2 products/fruit you are interested in. do a google immage search to see how different 'malabar tamarind' and 'tamarind' are.Read More Read Less
