I took one capsule of Oregon Grape and it took the bloat out of my gastrointestinal tract. Dr. Oz recommended it for that purpose and it worked. I think I only need to take one pill a day. You're supposed to start with the lowest effective dose. If any one has reflux disease, it's worth trying since it alleviated that symptom and I take one ginger capsule which is good for my stomach. I had of my eye lashes falling out in clumps and at one time period for several years, I would have almost no eyelashes remaining as if I was going bald on my eyes. Was ever difficult to apply eyeliner and looked very strange. I went to the eye doctor. He even checked me for mites but could find nothing wrong. Gave me antibiotic cream but that did not stop the problem.I happened on a suggestion years ago in prevention magazine that oregon grape root could this. Viola! It worked beautifully. I took this product for many years especially in the last 10 tears i took it daily with no side effects that I was aware of. But in the most recent few years, l have developed progressive, idiopathic neuropathy of the feet and legs. It is progressing but I don't have it any where else, leading one to suspect a back injury. I've been to several doctors and even a neurologist. I be had an mri of the brain and spine and X rays of the neck Finally I was put on a med like lyrica permanently. It has not helped the numbness which is especially numb on the bottoms of my feet. I recently read that it is possible that oregon grape root can be neurotoxic. I have stopped taking it. My eyelashes seem ok but I believe the progression of the neuropathy has stopped. I believe that it's possible I have done irreversible damage to the nerves in my feet and legs. I wonder if it is from taking oregon grape root for so many years. Read More Read Less

I have not actually used this product, however I was a judge at the Southeast Michigan Science Fair (20014 High School Division) where one student tested Oregon Grape Root and a few other natural antibiotics as well as standard antibiotics prescribed by physicians. Oregon Grape beat even the prescription antibiotics. Of course this was only one project, but it was enough to make me consider trying it, as I am allergic to numerous medications including many antibiotics.

I have used the root bark/ cambium layer to make a tea after steeping for 5 min. in hot water. use a tea ball with cut up strips to extract the compounds. I have drank the tea, chewed the remnants of the extraction. and applied to the skin on cotton. It seems to help with my anxiety related psoriasis and foot fungus problems. I rarely have psoriasis problems now and foot fungus is drastically reduced. I /try to make a cup in the evening but usually only use it 2 to 3 times a week. I use both methods so I have no proof or it working better by application or ingestion. If drank it is an acquired taste being bitter and earthy tasting. You know you have good extraction by the tea color of a light yellow die colorRead More Read Less

Oregon grape works on the digestive tract by quieting things down and getting rid of the inflammation which is the root of all disease. I used Nature's Way which is not on the list.Read More Read Less
