I am back to report that I did find lysine to be more effective and much less expensive than valtrex. I took 3000-4000mg at signs of outbreak for 7-10 days to prevent the outbreak, but what was really my problem was Diet, I found a website that was clear on the foods that was causing me to have frequent outbreaks eventhough lysine was clearing it up faster but they were frequent because I was eat...

I took 3000mg (3 capsules) on Thursaday, then 1 on the Friday (following the "tingle") on Friday afternoon my face starting burning, swelling up unevenly, with a arash. By Saturday I had rash on my arms (inner elbow down to wrist) on my neck and chest. My eyes seemed to become small as did my lips. Sunday (today) my face is enormous and very uncomfortable

When I had my last outbreaks on my lips and in my mouth, including the cheeks, I started. Using L-Lysine 500 mg. I hadn't had ANY outbreaks in months! Then I stopped taking it awhile, and my cheeks started shedding and my lips felt wind burned or chapped.

Honestly the best treatment I have found is 4000MG x 3 times a day orally. Drink lots of water, but the less food the better. I have created a paste also using 1000mg pills in a small bowl with only Hydrogen proxide. Let it sit for about 20 minuts sir occasionally. Optionally you can blend the bills in a blender. But do NOT put the hydrogen peroxide in the blender. The Peroxide eats away any rubber sealings within two uses. Found out the hard way don't do it. And mix it in a bowl with a few ounces of hydrogen peroxide and let it sit for a little bit. Those pills don't break down easily. Once it is about the consitancy of milk, (there will still be big chunks of pill unless you blended it), put it all over the area infected, I myself have had it spread to my neck and check and shoulders. Leave it on for a LONG time. I leave mine on and put more coats on when it drys. Usually 2-3 coats per hour. It does hurt a bit as it tighten the skin underneath, giving sharp pulls like band aids if over joints. Once it completely drys out, you will be covered in white powder that was not absorbed. It will flake off in powder form. If you really want to you can try and save the powder if you have a thick coat, and use it again. It's amazing how well it works, it turns white headed breakouts into faint red dots, not even bumps. After doing this two days, with 2-3,1 hour sessions a day, my extremely bad breakout was only little red dots. Any ones that are left still large, Just keep using the treatment on them. I just keep doing all of the previously infected areas even if they are clear, can't be to careful it will spread or reappear. If they are very large I usually try to pop them and let them weep just a little bit, and then massage the solution into the affected area. Word of caution, if you use your bare-hands to apply this to affected area, your hands will become very coarse from the peroxide. Im currently writing this with the solution on myself Read More Read Less

Was very run down and as a result cold sore popped up! Day after the tingling it was huge! Searched the web and found Lysene. Used Lysene supplement and ointment. OMG, what a relief. Will never buy expensive creams. Swelling went down after a couple of hours and the next day, half of the yellow scab came off on its own. Very pleased with it.

Used for white sores on the back of my throat which I seem to acquire ever winter. Works very well to clear my throat while other treatments were less effective.

This is extremely effective for my HSV2. I start taking 3000mg daily as soon as I feel an outbreak coming and it nearly stops it in its tracks!

Had herpes 2 for 15 years, episodes got more and more frequent past two years, sometimes non stop for months. Started taking high dose l lysine 2000mg 3x a day on the second day of tingling (shops closed on first day) the tingling diminished. Its now been 4 days and on the forth day i only took 1000 mg in morning and noon, by evening the tingling is getting stronger, so i think for me the high dose works best. After a few days i will again try to reduce dose and see what happens

Yesterday, I felt a cold sore coming on. I caught it when it was a bump and had just started to tingle. I had some Lysine ointment in my purse and applied it at 12:00 PM, and took one 500 mg Lysine tablet about 30 min. later. By 3:00 PM the tingling had stopped. I continued to apply the ointment and took another 500 mg tablet at about 5:30, another at 11:00 PM, and another this morning at 7:00. The area on my lip became dry and peeled. The swelling has gone down completely. I am now keeping my lips moist with clear lip gloss and there is no sign of the sore. I could not be more pleased! Also, I had two dark bruises on my legs which are now lightening up! I'm not sure if the Lysine helped the bruises or not, but if so, that was a nice bonus!Read More Read Less

Anytime I've felt the burning or annoyance of a cold sore coming, I take 2, 1000mg tablets. 8hrs later I take another, then the next day I day I begin a 1000mg per Day regiment for at least a week. Normally, the sore never surfaces. If it does, I do the same regiment, but take 1000mg per Day until the sore is gone. Since doing that regiment about 4-5 times, I haven't experienced a cold sore in 2 years.

After taking the Lysine since February, I developed palpitation and had to see a cardiology it did stopped the cold sores but this can be one of the side effects if you take it daily, I just learned that it can be use when you feel you're about to brake some people take 2 pills for a 3-4 days and it won't grow, for now I'll stop it for a few months and then just use it when I feel one is coming :(

I was diagnosed with HSV2 several months ago but never had an outbreak until a few days ago when I felt the tingle & itchiness that comes with prodome symptoms. I took 1000mg of L-Lysine in the morning and 1000mg at night. After 1 day - Prodome symptoms are gone and no signs of an outbreak now. I am so glad I tried this. I will continue to take 2000mg a day for 10 days then reduce to 1000mg a day every day In hopes of suppressing the virus. Try L-Lysine it works! I am taking the Nature Made brand. 13 years and have not found a better treatment. My routine is tea tree oil, a product called Lip Clear Lysine+ (All natural) and 3-5000 mg of Lysine internally spread out over the course of the day. %50 better results than any high dollar meds. Abreva seems to make them worse and Valtrex is $250+ dollars. All the above may run $20? All in all, Lysine seems to be very effective when used in combo with others in my situation.

I have been taking 1000mg of L-lysine and 50 mg of Zinc everyday. When I started taking them I was in the middle of an outbreak. I was desperate to find new ways to help with the symptoms because the doctor prescribed medicine just wasn't working. This treatment helped get rid of the symptoms fast and I haven't had an outbreak since. Also not eating the foods (except on special occasions) that feeds the virus helps this treatment work better. I have now been using this for about 6 months. Before this I was getting outbreaks every few weeks. It was doing terrible things to my relationship and working ability so I'm very glad I found this technique.Read More Read Less
