I have always drank black tea, but lately my early morning tea leaves me nauseated, is this the tannic acid.

My use for tannic acid, is not medical.. It is effective, when mixed with water, as a spray to treat rust on automotive assemblies. It chemically transforms iron oxide, rust, into a state that is no longer eating the host metal alive,,,

One used to get and ointment called Tannifax which was very effective. However, it was withdrawn from the market. The pharmacist at our local pharmacy said that the newer remedies, Burnol, were more effective. I offered to burn him in two places so that he could compare the two ointments but he declined to partake in the experiment. The tannic acid based medicine took the sting out of a burn immediately. The yellow Burnol did not work at all.

I live in FL. I have often used tea bags to help with the sting from sunburn. It takes the red out and helps the ouch.

i used tannic acid from tea bags and it works. also i use it when i get a tooth pulled it helps in healing. it takes yhe swelling down on both the cold sore and on your gums. it is also a old wives tale and it works

Tanic acid is the active ingredient in the cold sore ointment, Zilactin. While it is not sold in drug stores in the US, you can still buy this product online. It is the BEST product I've ever tried in treating and preventing cold sores, and is a lot cheaper than the popular name brands, like Abreva.
