I take Xanax only as needed for Panic Attacks. It helps to know that I only have to "hang on" for 15 minutes or so and then it will kick in and work well. I am thrilled with it and don't know what I would do if it wasn't available.

Like most things in life, the issue is how and why one takes Xanax. If you are taking it to treat a condition, be healthier, and be more alive and able to participate in life, you and your doctor can make good choices about whether xanax is helping or not. If xanax helps you run away from physical or emotional pain, and you live less, withdrawl more, etc. it is a big mistake and the longer you l...

I am a hyper person, I like everything to be perfect, I am also OCD. Couple years ago I diagnosed with systemic mastocytosis blood disorder. It is a mast cell disease. This causes anxiety/fear when something goes majorly wrong. I take .5mg, in 20 minutes I feel back to normal. I don not abuse it, I take as needed. Great Medication

I don't want to bad mouth this drug just on my experience, but I think it is best used for panic attacks not on a daily basis. I was on 2 mg tid for over a month. By the end of that month, my anxiety would get horrible before it was time for the next pill. I quit cold turkey (probably a bad idea). I went through 2 days of hell with no sleep and stomach pains. After that it took another two weeks before I felt free of the drug. Since this time (40 years ago), I have been prescribed lorazepam sometimes as needed, sometimes for up to 3 months. I never crave more and have had no problem terminating the lorazepam when I felt I no longer needed it.Read More Read Less

Was on xanax for almost a year and now I'm on clonazepam. I have severe sleep paralysis and insomnia aswell as anxiety. Xanax helped for a while but the clonazepam does a way better job. Probably because it's the best tranquilizer/benzo.

Starting the beginning of this year after having my daughter Brook in last December. I started having body issues due to chronic pain and I got it checked that I found out I have fibromyalgia and a couple other arthritis. And being on xanax I have found to keep me more at ease with my pain and am able to do more stuff that I need to get done thru out the day. And for the most important take care of my babygirl.

I take .25mg of Xanax sparingly when I feel intense anxiety & panic which I cannot get under control with behavioral techniques. Most of the time I am able to breath and use meditation to help through anxiety but there are those times where it gets too overwhelming to relax that I take a Xanax and within 15 minutes I feel amazingly better. I use this medication sparingly, in moments of desperation, and was against using any anti-anxiety medication for many years however, as I have gotten older it's been harder for me to "talk myself off the ledge", so to speak, when I feel a very bad attack creeping up on me. I am very confident and feel safer now that I have low dosage Xanax on hand for those scary moments.Read More Read Less

I find it hard to sleep and started taking this drug about 15 years ago. I take it at bedtime and sleep soundly through the night . I don't have any of the after affects that are described in the drug information descriptions. Now I can only get a limited supply so it is hard to travel for long periods of time because I can't get it while out of the state or out of the country. Lets free up the limits on prescriptions for us old folks who can't sleep.

i agre e with 'diamond'. this medication is so wide spread because i believe a lot of people need to take some sort of Benzo. Xanax is a great drug, for instant, acute panic attacks or repeated spurts of anxiety throughout the day. The only problem i had with Xanax,is the fact that it doesn't last very long, tops only would work for 3-4 hours. I ended up switching to klonopin which has been a miracle drug for me. I struggle with chronic anxiety, really bad.. that is from the second i wake up, to the second i fall asleep at night and thats why klonopin is more therapeutic for me .. i believe that many people are getting prescribed xanax when they would be better off with klonopin, but since so many people have been getting prescribed Xanax in the past 4 years, maintaining a legal prescription without your doctor trying to get you off of it has been a struggle because all of these kids and dumba$$e$ out there. they are ruining it for us people that truely need the drug. they are being super selfish and dont realize that they are making a life saving drug that helps millions of people every day, harder to get for those who need it. so everyone out there with a xaNAX prescribption, please dont eabuse this drug, please don't sell your meds to friends, family, etc. the easiest way to say no, is to just dont tell anyone you have a prescription for it. Benzos arent meant to share, so to the ones out there that pass this drug along and abuse the drug, you disgust me. doctors needs to do pill counts or something. but i hope this problem gets solved quickly before getting xanax is impossible!Read More Read Less

Very dangerous drug , very addicting . You will find that eventually you will need more. I ended up in rehab but it was the best thing I could have done for myself. Doctors should only be prescribing for short period of time!!!!!

Xanex is no different than if you were putinto a medical coma it's a dangerous drug and causes nothing more than blackouts there the patient thinks it's helping but in Heinz sight it's not doing a thing to bringing a solution to ones symptoms there given out by doctors to easily than it's the beginning of a destructive future Xanax should be outlawed and shame on physicians who presrcibe Xanax

I Agree with all 5 star reviews on this medication.Ive been having chronic panic Attacks and I also have Anxiety this medication has been the best to control it. I've been on other medications and Xanax has worked the best and now I've been stable on it for about 1.5 years now and only had 2 real bad episodes when I first started to take it until it put it under control with xanax and no more 911 calls to be taken to ER. Prior to taking this medication Xanax I was having Attacks at least 2 to 3 times a week and having to call 911 with heart pounding and blood pressure up at 210-156-117 and several tests done to seek out heart issues and other medical issues..since being stable now on Xanax My most recent visit to doctor was I'm being taken off of it and since medication change of 1 less pill a day I'm having Attacks again next week there taking another away and I'm so upset that us who use our medications properly and No Drugs..Alchohol..or Abuse the medication are being treated un fairly due to the ones that sell it and drink and mix with other drugs and do other crap with it disgust me. They should draw people's blood before they prescribe them to confirm that the patient is and has been taking the medication as prescribed and it should show a level just as alcohol and other drugs. I'm a 100% disabled Vet with PTSD and have constant anxiety, anxiety attacks, agoraphobia, and depression. No drug has worked as well for controlling anxiety, and preventing panic attacks. As mentioned in many other reviews, my psychiatrist wants to taper me off of it. I'm on 1mg, 3X daily. It works great but due to the opiate crisis, and the FDA tightening, docs recently have become afraid to prescribe it. If a med has been working great for years, why mess with it? I highly recommend for someone suffering from severe anxiety/anxiety attacks.Read More Read Less

After seeing all these positive reviews, I’m convinced I must just be super unlucky. About a year ago, I was prescribed .5mg Xanax 3/day for my frequent panic attacks. I only took it for two days and had to stop because within an hour of each dose I was having extreme panic attacks. I was not on any illicit drugs, alcohol, caffeine, vitamins, or supplements at the time. Just Paxil and I think some Seroquel. I don’t know why this happened and neither did my doctor, or any doctors since. All I know is that I’m never taking it again. I’ve since tried Klonopin (a longer acting benzo) with much better luck, but my medications are also radically different from that time. If anyone possibly knows why this happened, I’d love to hear what you have to say! Read More Read Less
