I've been on Loestrin 24 for a while and have had no negative side effects at all! I didn't have any breakthrouh bleeding and my period is super light now! My cup sized increased from a 34B to a 34C in the first 2 weeks on the pill (yay!) and I haven't had ANY of the PMS symptoms I used to. I was one of those girls that missed at least one day of school a month because of cramps, but I've never fe...

My doctor switched me to this birth control from Othro Tri Cyclen because he thought it would be better for me. I have high blood pressure following the birth of my daughter and he though a low estrogen pill would be safer. He told me that I would probably not get my period of this pill because a lot of women don't. Unfortunately, this pill failed the very first month I was on it. We are now p...

I've been on it for a month and a half. The first week or two I had nausea. I had no period the first month, just light cramps and spotting. I miss my period, it makes me nervous not to have it. I also noticed a greatly decreased sex drive. I've had no other troubles with this pill.

I am 36 years old and the mother of 2 children. I was prescribed this medication to help with heavy, painful periods after having taken Yasmin for a year. With Yasmin, I had breakthrough bleeding; however, I have not with this since I started it 3 weeks ago. I have, however, been severely sick to my stomach, had no appetite, endured migraines, felt exhausted, and I've been worrying excessively and crying a lot. My urine has been darker as well. It's like I'm back in a first trimester of pregnancy! Read More Read Less

I have been using this for about a year and a half. I have not had any bleeding at all during that time but do get a little crampy. I agree that the mood swings are awful and overall I feel more tense about 2 1/2 weeks each month.

The first couple of months my period was heavy, my cramps were still bad, and the day I started was never consistent. After the initial months I no longer have a period (maybe spotting every two months), cramps, or any other symptoms. No, I'm not pregnant. Oh, and for anyone who thinks it's expensive, go to Costco. You don't need to have a membership to use their pharmacy. It's costing me about $20 a month with my insurance.

I began taking BC pills 13 years ago, at the age of 15, due to severe cramps and long periods (7-8 days). I was given Loestrin (regular back then and was happy with it. Over time, I've been on Othro, Yazmin, Seasonique and now back on Loestrin 24. Yazmin was the best overall, as my period cycle changed immediately (I had 3 day periods with very minimal cramping). I also had no mood swings on Yazmin. However, due to an insurance change, I switched to Seasonique, but after having a full-blown period for 1.5 months, I quit pills all together for a year. I couldn't stand the cramps any longer, so now I've been on it for 2.5 months now. I had a period for about a week and a half the first month and about 8 days the second. I'm hoping it regulates during the 3rd month. Also, my mood swings are out of control - completely. Hair growth has slowed tremendously also (I can now go 4-5 weeks between Brazilian waxes as opposed to 3 weeks prior to Loestrin 24). I will give it about another month or so, then I will have to switch - again. Read More Read Less

i've been in this pill for over a year. well yeah the first couple months it was horrible, i had my period twice in a month and i didnt feel it was working for me, but i had a friend that gave me 6 samples so i decided to at least finish the samples. oh well, after those first months, the pill worked great for me, now i only have 2 days period, cramps are ver light almost nothing, and i might gain so weight but i dont think that is only because of this pill. however this pill is great, but is just to expensive, now i dont hve any samples and i definetely have to pay for it, and with my insurance it cost me $54, which is tooo much! i've been looking for a generic one, but i think they dont have it yet. after i read all this comments i can also asume that my moods had been changing too. because since december last year,i've been very moody, i always starts the fights with my bf, and sometimes i just want to hit him, or i try to break up with him, and i want to hit something, and i just look so terrible i really become very histerically. so i dont know i was thinking to see psicologist but i dont know now because it seems that even if this pills are great, it also makes u very moody!Read More Read Less

This is my second week taking it, the reason it works so well to deter any possibilities of become pregnant is because it makes me constantly bleed. Im not very satisfied because on top of that i have lower back pains, im on a constant rollercoaster with my moods (i freaked out because we didn't have ranch for my salad) I feel like I'm becoming i-polar, but its only the second week. And I'd have to go through the process of a new bc all over again. The more i read about it, the less i worry but the more i wish to change.Read More Read Less

I was on this birth control for 6 months and switched because of how expensive it was. The first few months took some adjustment as I had breakthrough bleeding and nausea. After the first 2 months, I stopped having periods altogether which should be great, but it did make me nervous. Before taking the pill, my mood swings were very predicable, almost scheduled, and expected. On the pill I (and my husband) noticed mood swings. I also had (painful!) gross acne, bloating in my lower abdomen, and weight gain even though my diet and exercise were the same. I also experienced fatigue and a decrease in what was once a healthy sex drive. I realize many of these symptoms could be unrelated, but they all occured at the same time I began taking this pill. I admit it was really nice to not have periods or cramps, but because of the cost and symptoms, I decided to swich. Read More Read Less

Terrible breakthrough bleeding while on this medication. Had to change Dr. due to insurance and my new Dr. immediately changed my birth control saying that Loestrin 24 is terrible.

This is the second BC I have taken in the last 9 mos. I was placed on BC due to extreme heavy periods that were 2 weeks apart. So far it's worked however I'm 38 and my breast have grown 2 cup sizes, my husband thinks that is just fine. Break through has been little to none, periods only lasted 2 days and use to last 10 and could have bought stock in Kotex overall it works, with little or no weight gain. I'm generally satisfied. Side effects were perfectly explained so I knew what to expect. I have yet to pay for the pill my OB/GYN provides them for me, that's a plus!Read More Read Less

I've been on this bc pill a little over a year now. I had a bit of break-through bleeding the first and second months, but that stopped and haven't had any, none at all, since then. I haven't had any negative side effects on this pill. This is a very low-dose pill, i think the lowest available. I'm 21, 100lbs. I tried another bc before this one, and i had HORRIBLE depression, and I cried nonstop, and I ached all over. My doctor said the dosage was too high and switched me to this. It's amazing how the amount of dosage can affect you, because this pill and the one i was on before have the exact same types of hormones in them. The only difference is dosage. My periods are very light compared to what they are off bc, and usually last about 4 days. The pills cost me $30 a month w/ insurance.Read More Read Less

I love the fact that I have less periods/shorter periods, DEFINITELY less pain in the abdominal are, and my hair growth has diminished. (Hurrah.) However, please note: that this pill was prescribed to me for controlling cystic fibroids (and somewhat to help diminish the heavy bleeding/clotting)and I'm not even sexually active. I have noticed some bloating and severe fatique, alsong with constant depression. What worries me is that my skin has started to spot! Anyone else encounter this?

I was asked to try this medication because I had some really bad migraines. I have been on the bc pills now for 4 months. Since starting the pills I have had one cycle. That concerns me because being old school I feel the body works better when it actually has the period. My periods were always fine it was the migraines that got me in the past year. After reading the other posts I have realized I have had some different kind of acne and my weight has changed a little. I feel bloated more now. The acne isn't only on my face it is on my chest as well. One very big good thing about this change in bc pills my sex drive is over the top....which has been a struggle on the other pills. I have had alot of nausea and constipation with this pill. I have also had a period everyday since I started this a month ago. I called the Dr and she said "at my age" this happens. I am only 31. I think I am going to stop using these pills. I would rather have cramps and heavy bleeding for 3 days then be sick and bleeding everyday

It's been two months, and I've gotten no period. I got scared, of course, spent big money on pregnancy tests. Called doctor and she said this was normal.. Definitely don't like having to worry.
