I've been on Loestrin 24 for a while and have had no negative side effects at all! I didn't have any breakthrouh bleeding and my period is super light now! My cup sized increased from a 34B to a 34C in the first 2 weeks on the pill (yay!) and I haven't had ANY of the PMS symptoms I used to. I was one of those girls that missed at least one day of school a month because of cramps, but I've never fe...

My doctor switched me to this birth control from Othro Tri Cyclen because he thought it would be better for me. I have high blood pressure following the birth of my daughter and he though a low estrogen pill would be safer. He told me that I would probably not get my period of this pill because a lot of women don't. Unfortunately, this pill failed the very first month I was on it. We are now p...

I've almost been taking this pill for a week now and I've been experiencing severe headaches, nausea and horrible mood swings. I have felt so bloated and tired since I started taking this. Everyone's body is different. Just wanted to share my experience. I won't be taking this anymore.

I have been on this for around 7 months now, and it has made my life miserable. Within the first month of taking it, I noticed really bad emotional side effects. I've never even been super emotional, but all of a sudden I would start crying over absolutely anything, become EXTREMELY depressed for days at a time, and have fits of anger and rage at the slightest inconveniences. I also noticed a weight gain after the first three or so months. I have always been extremely active and health-conscious, and yet I still have gained around 15lbs. It has been a nightmare. It also made my acne horrible for the four or so three months. It is a little better now, but I always have at least one breakout area on my face. Always. I didn't want to go off of it because it took away my terrible cramps, but it just isn't worth dealing with all the terrible side effects anymore. I have been an emotional train wreck ever since I began taking this birth control, and I cannot wait to gain back control of my life once I am off of the pill. Read More Read Less

I am now in my forth month of this birth control. The first two months were rough but after those two, it has been amazing. No side effects, very short periods little to no cramps. GREAT for PCOS!

I have been on this pill for 3 years. I didn't start having problems until last year. I started gaining weight and not being able to lose it. Granted my periods stopped, but I'm not sure that is a good thing, I think that is a way the body is designed to "cleanse". The mood swings are horrible for all around you and you. The fatigue is unbearable! I'm not too sure that it hasn't caused gallbladder and liver issues as well. I would say if you could find a better pill try another.

I was only on this medication for 2 weeks. After 6 days on it, I became so exhausted and drowsy with slight muscle aches. It didn't occur to me this was a side effect and kept waiting for some impending sickness (ex. bad cold) to come on, but it never did. I finally realized it may be the birth control and immediately stopped taking it. Doctor's office says fatigue/drowsiness is not a reported symptom (unless its depression) and that I need to continue for 3 months... However, most bad reviews online seem to include the fatigue.Read More Read Less

I was put on birth control for PCOS. I am 25 and never in my life have I taken birth control. I was getting my period regularly since the age of 14, and then stopped randomly about 2 years ago. I tried to acupuncture to get my period back and it did, but only sporadically, and I noticed a 15 pound weight gain that just would't go away. My doctor finally prescribed me Loestrin and I am pretty happy with the results. I was very hesitant about taking this (as i've heard about weight gain, moodiness, larger breasts, etc) but I must say i'm pretty happy with the results. I got my period within my first cycle of pills and have felt that the bloated feeling i've had over the past year has finally gone away. I do need to drop a few pounds and my breasts have grown, but I am waiting for my body to get used to the medication. I do recommend Loestrin.Read More Read Less

My doctor recommended this brand because she said it has a lower dosage and people are supposed to have less symptoms. But that just hasn't been the case with me. I've been taking this birth control for a month now and it has been an awful experience. I've been extremely tired and have had severe cramps. I've also felt extremely nauseous and have gotten sick a lot. I felt pretty awful towards the middle of the month and thought it would get better if I kept taking it but symptoms have just gotten worse. Going to stop taking it and try a different brand. Can't stand feeling this sick anymore.Read More Read Less

I was on this pill for one month and it was horrible. I had the worst stomach aches, gas, bloating, and weight gain. I thought I would hurt myself or someone else. I became very depressed, and tired. Closer to my period I felt so fatigued and at times like I would pass out. I also a got a yeast infection in the middle of packet. Very unhappy and now I am off it.

I am on this only for an IVF treatment. First off I don't get why women take pills for birth control- hello condoms- learning your cycle and when not to have sex... Anyway I could not avoid taking chemicals aka BC as I'm an organic freak but because of us doing a round of IVF I have to. Previous BC I was on made me sick and had headaches all day. This one is OK, however I noticed an increase in my heart palpitations- could be BC in general does not agree with my body which is why i never could use them in the first place (when i was younger)Read More Read Less

I have only been taking this birth control for about 9 days, but I am already satisfied with my results. I switched to Loestrin from the Nuvaring because I was experiencing some pretty severe side effects. I'm noticing side effects from Loestrin as well, but they are MUCH more tolerable: slight nausea in the first couple days of starting and some spotting. No mood swings or depression, sex drive is fine.

I started taking this BC after taking Yaz which worked better for me but kept here horror stories about it so I had to switch. I was on this BC for abou three months and bleed almost every single day from it. It also made me feel very depressed.

I was prescribed LoEstrin as a low level Estrogen Hormonal Replacement. In my earlier years birth control made me tired and gave me headaches. Now, things have changed. My body had responded in such a positive way taking this. I feel myself emotionally and physically. All of my physical symptoms of menopause, including night sweats and hot flashes have diminished. Even well aware of all the possible side effects, I know for myself, I absolutely have made the right choice.

Took this pill for 1.) Acne and 2.) Birth Control. I have had a side effect that very few people had which was hair loss in the scalp. Big amounts of hair would come out when I would shower. I realized this happened to me with a previous birth control as well but want to note for others as a precaution. I got extremely bloated on this medication. I have a flat tummy and it looked like I was pregnant which was painful and annoying. This also gave me a very backed up system which I never get. I got extremely nauseous, very moody, heartburn, anxiety and some depression. Also had a lot of vaginal discomfort. The only pro was that my boobs grew a cup size. Can't complain about that! I've been off of this pill for three days and all of these symptoms are gone.Read More Read Less

I was an emotional mess on Loestrin. In fact, I call the time I was on this medication, "my tearful and fearful period". This medication may work to prevent pregnancy, but I question its impact on mental well-being.

This medication was effective in only ONE way, simply prevented me from becoming pregnant. Otherwise, this pill was awful. I felt constantly depressed and extremely fatigued. I was bloated and gained 13lbs within the first two months. I stopped taking this pill and switched after two solid months... I just couldn't take it any longer. Nearly two days after being off, I feel like my old self again. As a side note, if you're someone who already suffers from anxiety/panic attacks -- this is not the medication for you. I am at the end of my second month using Lo Loestrin Fe. The first month I had no symptoms/side effects. It was great but this second month has been horrible. I never get headaches and now I get them daily they have gotten worse each day. I also have heartburn, nausea and stomach ache and I never had any of these issues. The headaches are non stop now. I am going to stop using it since I cannot tolerate having headaches and all the horrible side effects.

I would not recommend this birth control. This is the 2nd time I've tried using it. The 1st time I used it 3 months and kept getting awful yeast infections. This 2nd time, have skipped my period that past 6 months, I got terrible migraines the first 3 months, after the 4th month terrible cystic ache started up and face got very oily causing the face, back, and, neck to breakout and has also caused me to gain weight. Overall, it works for birth control.

I started to take this birth control and liked it for the 1st 2 months. My breast were extremely tender at first but I got passed that. But within 3 months my poor face (which never had any sever acne before, maybe the occasional blemish) broke out in huge cystic pimples. Literally had them on my chin, nose, cheeks. It was terrible. I called my doctor and asked to be switched immediately. Ever since switching, those cysts have gone.
