I've had dry itchy ears that sometimes bled for years. The rememdies doctors prescribed did nothing for me. I finally visited an E-N-T doctor who prescribed DermOtic Oil for me. All I can say is that it works! My ears stopped itching and I totally forget about them. The oil leaves the skin nice and soft. No more itching, flakiness or bleeding. I am very satisfied with this medication as it is ...

My Rx for DermOtic was written so as to allow for substitution of a generic equivalent. Since DermOtic was not listed in my insurance carrier's Formulary, I did some online research and found that its active ingredient is fluocinolone acetonide 0.01%, and there was a listing for that in my insurer's Formulary. So, when I took the Rx to my pharmacy, I requested substitution of the listed drug. T...

I had suffered with extremely itchy ears for more than a decade - may have been a result of regular swimming in a pool. This med cured me in 3 applications - it has been a least a month since I last applied it and feel normal at long last!

I got relief right away from these ear drops. I had been suffering from severe itching, inflammation in both ears, fungal infections, but have healed, my dr. Finally gave me this medicine, I noticed after the first time I used it, the next day I had no itching! I was so relieved!! I had been itching so bad for over a year, trying everything!

I was prescribed Dermotic Oil for constant ear irritation I was getting by a ear specialist, the results where impressive. As I've aged my ears seem to be getting more sensitive. (The clorine in pools was the culprit as well as over use of Q-tips)(I can no longer go underwater and I'm a recovered Q-Tip aholic.. On my last check my general doc renewed the prescription and ticked the box to allow generics. The generic doesn't seem to work as well for me(I'm been going with it for about a year) I'm thinking some of the magic of this stuff may be in the inert ingrediants(the Dermotic box says since 1943) (Just got off the phone with Walgreens and they said they only stock stock the generic and that getting the non-generic is going to be a problem with insurance..) Arrrg.. this is just making my ears itch more in irritation.. The generic equivalent is made my Amneal. In the list of inert ingrediants, This has more mineral oil than peanut oil and Lacks the Cream Fragance and Balsam Pine. The DermOtic has a pleasant smell, the drops feel more soothing and It seems like hard wax would form that I could get out with a ear wash. The generic feels messier and I don't seem to get a wax formation that I can flush out(To be fair might the wax thing, might be from me getting older and I would need my DermOtic oil to see if there is a difference) Hope this helps people. Resist the temptation of going diving with Q-tips to releave an itch. The relief is momemtary and the several ear infections from doing it are far worse. Read More Read Less

I really like this for my itchy inner ears. However, one warning says 'do not get it into your mouth'. My ears are always draining into my sinus canals down the back of my throat. Therfore, the oil goes down my throat as well, it cures my itchy ears, but, there is no mention about any side effects on the chemical going down my throat, is there????

My Rx for DermOtic was written so as to allow for substitution of a generic equivalent. Since DermOtic was not listed in my insurance carrier's Formulary, I did some online research and found that its active ingredient is fluocinolone acetonide 0.01%, and there was a listing for that in my insurer's Formulary. So, when I took the Rx to my pharmacy, I requested substitution of the listed drug. The pharmacist (WalMart) told me that there was no approved generic equivalent to DermOtic. I pointed out that they were chemically identical, but the pharmacist said she could not substitute it, and my co-pay would be approximately $80.00. I took the Rx back to my doctor and asked him to write a new Rx for fluocinolone acetonide 0.01%, which he did, and I was able to get a bottle twice the size packaged by DermOtic, for a co-pay of $5.00. I see that since my experience, some web sites are now listing fluocinolone acetonide 0.01% as an approved generic substitute for DermOtic, but others are not. So, consumers beware, and avoid paying more than is necessary! (BTW, I have since switched to a non-steroidal medication, Promiseb cream, and have had good results with it, so you may wish to ask your doctor about that option.)Read More Read Less

This is a miracle in a bottle. I have suffered with flaky, dry, itchy ears for over 20+ years. They would itch so much that I would scratch them raw (even in my sleep). New ENT prescribed this and within days it has worked wonders. I am going to recommend that mother who is a hearing aid wearer, inquire about this medication with her doctor.

I have had itchy ears for a long time and then about a year ago I became very dizzy. The doctors all told me that it was a crystal flake that broke loose and told me to do sone exercises to get the crystal to move. I asked my new ENT for some ear drops for itchy ears and he perscribed DermOtic Oil. The very first time I used it the room stopped spinning around and my ears no longer itch. I can now go to bed at night without the room spinning. This medication is worth its weight in gold. It cleared up both conditions for the price of one.Read More Read Less

I have had the itchiest ears for so long. I would itch them until I was bleeding, fluid running out of them. They drove me absolutely crazy!! Finally I went to an ENT and he prescribed this. I am SO happy with it. It works wonders and feels (and smells) good!

I have had scaling itchy ears for about 50+ yrs. This med works so well that I can hardly express my almost immediate results. Wish one of my dozen or so previous MDs had prescribed this for me years earlier.

I've had itchy ears for years and have battled external ear infections for years; I would get them several times a year until a specialist prescribed me this drug which literally saved me. I don't know why no PCP could prescribe it sooner but this has been a lifesaver for me. Provides relief within days and lasts a long time. I now use these drops after I wash my hair. I don't have to use them after each wash but if I use them occassionally I don't have any problems. I have not had an ear infection in 2 years!Read More Read Less

I'm a hearing aid wearer...always itchy ears. Is this a new drug? I have been so pleased with the results and it works within days. The 2nd best thing I have used is over the counter (no Rx necessary) Miracell, however this Dermotic oil is definitely the BEST. I've forgotten I had itchy ears.
