Just let me start by saying I almost didn't get the treatment becasue of the reviews I read on this site. I am a 50 yr old women that loves to run. I had my knee scoped 2 years ago and am now bone on bone and was looking for some relief. My Dr. suggessted Euflexxa. I was excited for the chance of running without pain. Then I started to do research online and everything written was absolutely terri...

I am preparing for this Euflexxa and quite frankly I am more nervous than before reading the reviews on this procedure. I had surgery on 11/26/10 and I am still inable to function. I can barely walk and the pain is so intense I wake almost nightly to screeming out in pain. I know that I have to try something, I can not continue in this pain and on pain medications. I am a heart patient and diab...

Just had my third and final Injection of Euflexxa, and so far nothing has changed. The ortho doc said to give it two to three weeks before the full effect. The injections were uncomfortable to the point of hurting. After the last I experienced increased heart rate and some chest pain, similar to heart attack symptoms.

I had my first (and only!) Euflexxa injection in my left knee on Jan 23, 2012. Within a few minutes my knee began burning... 2 hours after that I developed a severe headache... 2 hours after that both ears became inflamed and filled up with fluid. Doctors have been pumping me full of steroid shots, Prednisone, and antihistimines. Nothing works. It has now been four weeks since the shot and I am no better. Have not been able to work at all during this time. Euflexxa is bioengineered to break down slowly over 4 to 6 months - so I guess I have 3 to 5 more months of being sick as a dog. I contacted Ferring Pharmaceuticals (the maker of Euflexxa) seeking any suggestions or research that might help me and my doctor treat this issue and they refuse to help. I've never sued anyone in my life, but I've reached a point I'm ready to file a lawsuit. Read More Read Less

I had my first injection after therapy and other treatments on my knee. I was told that I have severe OA. I have to say that if your MD does not inject you with a numbing agent prior to your injection you will want to kick them with your other leg. I felt everything and it was miserable. Immediately after the injection my knee felt cold. I mean cold inside the knee. Since then I have had my 2 other injections and I have not experienced the immediate releif others talk about. On the contrary, I have experienced more pain when walking, shooting pains and this extreme cold feeling in my knee that I cannot ever warm up. It is uncomfortable and irritating. I am now in the 6 week waiting period to see if this will make any difference but I am not holding out a lot of hope seeing as I am having more problems since the injection. I am feeling like I will have to make an apointment for surgery to clean my knee up. I hate the waitign game. Read More Read Less

I received the series of 3 Euflexxa injections in my mildly arthritic knee, starting the same day as a cortisone injection in my arthritic hip (same side), and had immediate relief from Day 1, slightly improved after the second one. Since then a little knee discomfort has recurred (and more hip difficulty), but I can climb stairs well again. So far I can testify that the Euflexxa relief for me has already lasted much longer than the relief from the cortisone injection (though my hip joint might be in worse shape). If this lasts for me 6 months or longer and is repeated then, I have hopes of postponing a knee replacement for years. (I hope that a similar hip treatment will emerge before long.)Read More Read Less

After 2nd injection to rt knee, pain increased. After 3rd injection, knee hurts badly. After 2nd injection left knee, pain increased! I have one more injection to the left knee. Right now BOTH knees are painful. It's more difficult to climb stairs than before and they just hurt. After the first injection in my right knee, the knee felt better and I thought that was a good sign. Now I'm not so sure.

I HAVE HAD OA FOR MANY YEARS, A FEW KNEE SURGURIES AND LIVE WITH PAIN ALL THE TIME. IT'S BEEN A MONTH SINCE I MY THREE INJECTIONS. THE INJECTIONS WERE PAINLESS AND VERY EASY TO TAKE. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY BAD SIDE AFFECTS BUT HAVE NOT REALLY SEEN ANY IMPROVEMENT. MY KNEES FEEL A LITTLE BETTER BUT I THINK THAT'S BECAUSE I HAVE NOT PLAYED TENNIS FOR TWO MONTHS. I PLAN TO START PLAYING AGAIN THIS WEEK AND HAVE MY KNEE SCOPED AGAIN TO CLETEAN UP CARTLIDGE TEARS IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS. THIS TREATMENT SEEMS TO BE A SHORT TERM 50/50 CHANCE TO RELIEVE A LITTLE PAIN.Read More Read Less

Had my first injection of Euflexxa today. The Physician's Asst. did a fantastic job of making the entire procedure painless! After sterilizing the injection site, she hit the area with freeze-spray, injected Lidocaine with a 22-gauge needle, left the needle in and attached the syringe with the Euflexxa. So, only one needle and absolutely no pain! I would have to say this was the least painful injection ever! She said I may feel some pain after the anesthetic wore off but so far so good and it's been 11 hours. I hope this works since I have chondromalacia in both knees and chronic soft tissue injury in one. I would have had both knees done today but the pharmacy providing the Euflexxa screwed up and only delivered for one knee. I keep thinking if the injection was so smooth and pain free it may mean my knees will become pain free! Here's to hoping! Actually, I think it's helping already. Just did some squats to compare knees. I guess having just one knee done today is good because I can compare function. If you opt for Euflexxa or any other similar treatment, please tell your doctor you want Lidocaine, one needle, and make sure they spray ethyl chloride (freeze spray) on the site prior to injection. Addendum: It's been 21 hours since the injection and I can feel the difference immensely. Due to the chondromalacia, my knees would creak during bending, squatting. The treated knee is not creaking any more and the untreated knee still is. So far so good.Read More Read Less

Took all three shots to try to delay getting total knee replacements. Shots do hurt but not for long, however had pretty bad cramps in calves and thigh muscles, weird chest pain-though I was having a heart attack to the point I went and had it checked out-heart is fine. But got no relief from the shots and consider them to be a major waste of money. Do not recommend them.

I have a chondromalacia, the doctor gave me 3 shots of Euflexxa in both knees, three months ago and it didn't help at all. My knees hurts more than before and it also hurts where the shot is given. First shot is painful, second shot is more painful and the third shot is horrible. I wish I saw this WebMd comment first, before I took the shot, I noticed that there's more negative comments than positive from euflexxa. I hope this comment will help.

Two months post-op I was still having considerable knee pain and my doctor recommended giving Euflexxa a try. (I'm trying to put off knee replacement surgery for as long as I can.) It's been 4 weeks since my last injection and I have gotten considerable relief - I can now walk without limping. I had no side effects from the medication what so ever, even though I tend to be alergic to a LOT of medications. I was hoping that it would help more with the discomfort of going up stairs, but so far, it hasn't helped much...but, it has helped a lot with walking. I can now do housework and shop without being in misery. For those that say how extremely painful getting the injections were - I suspect it was the doctor giving them. My Orthopedic doctor is very good - the injections were no more uncomfortable than steroid injections I'd gotten for years. My doctor told me after the 1st injection to ice it and stay off it as much as I could for the rest of the day. I took it easy for 2 days as good measure. I came very close to not getting the injections after reading all the negative reviews on here, but my husband encouraged me to do it (saying more than likely, people that got good results didn't bother to put in comments). I'm glad I got the shots, it has help me considerably. Read More Read Less

I had always had been injected with Hyalgan, but my Dr. insisted that I try Euflexxa. The Hyalgan shots kept me pain free for 8-10 months, while Euflexxa only lasted about 3 months.

It's only been a couple of weeks since my last injections but I have not noticed any difference in the level of chronic pain from my arthritis. However, I have a new tear so that may be why the pain is still constant. I pray this works better than synvisc
