This has been the worst experience with a drug I ever had. It was prescribed and given for perioperative pain ( a complex multi level spinal fusion) without my knowledge or consent. After surgery it was continued. This drug completely affected my ability to think in a severe way. It disturbed my mood- made me irritable, fearful, upset, etc. After I was discharged I developed terrible leg edema, gained 10 lbs in a week, had auditory hallucinations, and intrusive suicide ideation whe i had absolutely no depression or any mental health issues prior to taking it. Doesn’t help increasing dose and after reading the side effects I am going to talk to my doctor about weaning me off of it.

I was misdiagnosed with having a stroke.. after having two MRI's and see several neurologist's and a neurosurgeon (who was the best doctor I ever had) it was determined I Cervical Stenosis and vertebrae had damaged nerves and muscles in my neck. I was to PT and OT 2xweek for 6 months and then 1x week after. I had continued pain in my neck and shoulders. I was prescribed Pregabalin. 75mg caps 2x day. I didn't feel any relief for the first 2 weeks, but after that I could move my head without pain, and was finally sleeping through the night. Have had some dizziness, minor headaches and a little brain fog at times. My dosage now is 1x 75mg daily and I am almost pain free, with improved range of motion. Read More Read Less

Pain management doctor in the Philippines prescribed 75mg 2x daily, with Tramadol/Paracetamol 3x daily for my spine damage. He also prescribed Etoricoxib 120mg 2x daily for the degenerative spine disease. Since Etoricoxib hasn't been approved in the USA yet, a doctor here ignored that condition, cancelled the Tramadol (just because, I suppose), and changed the Pregabalin to 100mg 2x daily. My overall pain level is higher, I have difficulty sleeping (must constantly move side-to-side), and I have increased appetite/weight gain. I've taken lyrica for about six months now, and I guess it does what it says it does.[ I'm a fully vented quadriplegic]. I don't want to be taking anything but having nerve pain this pill kind of took the edge off, I'm taking a minimal dose, [75mg x2 day]. but I think it has affected my cognitive abilities, I feel I'm not as sharp. Also, I find my eyesight not as good as it used to be, not that it's gotten worse but I have trouble focussing. I still have nerve pain, and it's always there, I mean I noticed the pain wasn't as bad for a few weeks after I started taking it, but I still have pain now and I don't know if I should increase the dose or just get off it.Read More Read Less

I had several side effects, including dizziness and fatigure.

I currently take 200mg 3x daily and this medication makes my nerve pain tolerable everyday. Before I started taking it my legs and feet hurt so bad I could barely move. It felt like I was walking on burning needles and had electrical shocks shooting down my legs. Now, on my current dosage most days I don’t feel any nerve pain at all and on the days I do feel it it’s probably a 3/10 instead of a 10/10 on the pain scale. The only side effect that I still have from being on it is the increased appetite which causes some weight gain issues. The “drunk” feeling most people describe as a side effect only lasted about a month or so after I started taking it and after dosage increases. Read More Read Less

It's my second time trying this medication. I didn't continue the first time because of side effects. I was taking 100mg 2x day. Right from the start. Way too much. But the pain did go away. This second time around I started at 25mg 2x daily and gradually upped 25 MG daily every week. I'm now at 50 2x daily. Pain is lesser and no side effects. I m finding that it is helping with my mental state. I realize that I had anxiety.

Stopped this medication after a month and a half because it was causing severe suicidal ideation, anxiety, and dissociation. It felt like I was asleep for weeks at a time. I was grumpy, miserable, and starving the entire time I was on it.

I initially started on 100 mg/day for nerve pain. It seemed to help, but no drastic change. Long story short--ended up trying a high dose (500 mg/day) for seizure control. I have had chronic migraines since I was 5 years old, almost daily at times. Maxalt was a game changer for me-- the first medicine to actually help (taking several times per week). Anyway, since I have been on the 500mg of Lyrica, my migraines have all but disappeared. I am shocked that I hadn't heard other stories.(P.S. I am a pharmacist. ) Ohhhhh, but the weight gain is no joke- I gained 20 pounds in 2 months. I have never struggled with my weight.Read More Read Less

i did not realize how effective this medication was for me until i missed a dose and was in a great deal of pain until the next dose kicked in and relieved the pain in my back,feet and hand.

Prescribed for arm pain/mobility/strength which limit ability to sleep related to pinched nerve. Difficult to dress/undress and other ADLs affected. Taking 75mg. Dosage: 1x/day @ bedtime for 1st week, 2x 2nd week, 3x 3rd week (follow-up visit with doctor), possibly 4x 4th week - all 6 hours apart. I'm on 6th day of week one. I've had zero improvement in pain/sleep/mobility or anything. Side effects: major constipation, tired all day, loss of appetite, insomnia. Hi I have rheumatoid arithritis, fibromaglia & stenosis of spine. It all started 10yrs ago & im 63yrs old. For rheumatoid I have infusions of ritaxamab & they have helped me greatly. For my back I take 30mgs of oxycodone every day. As for fibro & all nerve pain I take 75mgs twice daily but not always. I must admit at first I hated it I felt so weird but as time went on it has saved me. It’s great for fibromyalgia & all nerve pain including my neck. I took gabapentin for a little of a year. That year was the worst year of my adult life. Gabapentin made me depressed and suicidal. Lyrica is a game changer I started taking 50 mg 2xs a day and now my Dr upped my dose to 100mg 2xs. I have absolutely no side effects with it. I also take red Bali kratom. I have degenerate disk disease and suffering from the aftermath of shingles.

It causes less air in lungs

I have been dealing with very painful neuropathy in my feet for almost 8 years. Aside from the neuropathy, I am very healthy. I wear compression socks, with heavy wool socks over them to deal with the pain. Hurts to walk any distance or amount of time. I an barely stand to walk to the end of the driveway to get the mail, and standing on a tiled shower floor is absolute torture. I used to be very active in the outdoors and on my family's farm. I was prescribed 1, 75mg capsule, every 12 hours. Within 20 hours of starting the drug I was literally brought to tears, with 95% - 98% of the neuropathic pain gone. I could walk, feel my feet, felt stable, and went for a 1 mile walk with no pain. To me, it was something short of a miracle. However, at about the 30 hour mark of starting the drug, extreme diarrhea set in. At the 48 hour mark, of starting the drug, I was experiencing severe diarrhea. This was so severe, I would compare it to going through bowel prep for a colonoscopy. I persevered, taking the drug for five more days, not wanting to go back to the incredible neuropathic pain and immobility. Finally, after experiencing significant dehydration, weaknesses, and a raw posterior, I called my Doctor who advised me to stop taking the drug. I was then prescribed Cymbalta, 30MG capsule, twice daily. I experienced the exact same side effect of extreme diarrhea. This was the only side effect that I experienced from taking Lyrica/Pregabalin. I was given this for fibromyalgia, I have been taking it for 3 years now, 100.00 mg a day. The memory loss, and confusion, have steadily gotten worse. Now having BAD Swelling of the hands, legs, and feet that comes and goes. the Muscle weakness in my arms and hands is getting bad. I did not realize this was a side effect. I have tried getting off this drug before with no success, very bad withdraws. I am trying to get off it again. I wanted to share my mom’s experience so that nobody will go through this and guys please don’t use Lyrica! After taking it for 2 weeks, my mom woke up one day asking where she is, who we are!! Memory wiped away!The doctor told her to stop the medicine on the spot and then came the worse health effects!!! It’s been 15 days she is having bad trips, shivering, upset stomach, sweating, liss of appetite!! Never take this drug!! Never!!
