I had the most debilitating panic attacks! I started getting them at 23 yrs old. Beforehand, I didn't even know there was such a thing! I thought I was having a heart attack (other panic-disorder sufferers know what I mean!) So, for YEARS, I would have an attack w/out any outside trigger or reason. I stopped drinking coffee, alcohol, and even thought that I was causing them from eating high-fat fo...
Until June, I have been on 6mgs of this poison for seven years. In my opinion, it is given out to easily, prescribed at high doses for too long at a time, and is highly addictive if used for most two weeks. I've been going through withdrawal for weeks and it is only the beginning of what I will endure. Just watch the videos on Youtube or Google Klonopin Withdrawal and you will be horrified. I have...

withdrawal from 2mg after several months was nearly impossible...this drug is toxic and led to severe neurological conditions...take only for a few weeks--no more!

I'm using this medication to help with controlling my panic attacks from an armed robbery experience a couple of years ago. Also, I have bipolar type II and depression. so I take various other medication as well.

I had PD and PTSD since 1985. Started on Xanax, then Klonopin. I actually became able to function, but addicted, very addicted on 4mg of Klonopin. I don't regret it. It saved my life. Now on .05mg QD I went to rehab, but was able to ween myself off. Please be careful. I trusted my doctor, and I needed to do more like exercise, walking,swimming... After 20 years of severe anxiety (the kind you feel after the panic attacks are under control and you no longer wake from sleep in a complete teror that something is coming to get you), just anxiety that you have no idea why you have it---that kind, it was time for me to begin to have faith in myself with the help of a little meds. I had to begin to ween myself off. BUT it is great while you need it.Read More Read Less

I was prescribed this drug in conjunction with an SSRI. I've found it to produce an overall calming effect and successful in reducing my anxiety and irritability.

I will be going off this medication soon and hope that I won't be addicted. However, it does work well for panic, anxiety, and works quickly.

Having an undiagnosed Anxiety & Panic disorder for about 15 years I finally found help about 10 years ago(25 years total). After the initial balance period I've had an better than expected result. I still have occasional relapses, but I've had pleasant results.

I've been on this medication for about 3yrs & it has been a big help. I was having so bad panic attacks,I could not even breath & some time felt like I was dying. When attacks gets so bad I wanted to die. But since I'm on this medication I can live almost normal life & I can even sleep well most of the time. My problem is I need get correct pharmaceutical co. medicine, cause certain co. medicine doesn't work for me, even though same name & same strength medicine. But, over all clonazepam is helping me a great deal. Thanks!Read More Read Less

I was on Xanax from 15 to 30. I was switched to Klonopin and for me it works perfectly. I have had very few panic attacks. I do not get high from it like the Xanax. It is just an even feeling that both helps my panic disoorder and helps with the manic side of Bipolar. I personally have not had depression increase of suicidal thoughts but have known people who have so talk to your doctor. Everypne is different and this is addictive so never just stop taking it. I had to once as a psychiatrist "fired" me and did not wean me down and I was amess for three months and could have died I was later told. I take 6mg per day. 3 doses of 2 mg. Most people need way less than that so talk to your doctor. For me though, I am happy with this mediaction and probably will stay on it for life. Again, I like that it never makes me feel high. Some people it may. That is not good. Read More Read Less

I have been on this med for over 15 years and my dose has been increased and decreased based on my symptoms. I have found that daily doses over 4mg cause a reverse effect.

Slower to kick in but lasts longer than Xanax, Ativan, etc. Also, much less likely to be addictive - higher efficacy over prolonged use makes it a better solution than most for long-term use.
