I had the most debilitating panic attacks! I started getting them at 23 yrs old. Beforehand, I didn't even know there was such a thing! I thought I was having a heart attack (other panic-disorder sufferers know what I mean!) So, for YEARS, I would have an attack w/out any outside trigger or reason. I stopped drinking coffee, alcohol, and even thought that I was causing them from eating high-fat fo...
Until June, I have been on 6mgs of this poison for seven years. In my opinion, it is given out to easily, prescribed at high doses for too long at a time, and is highly addictive if used for most two weeks. I've been going through withdrawal for weeks and it is only the beginning of what I will endure. Just watch the videos on Youtube or Google Klonopin Withdrawal and you will be horrified. I have...

This medication hurt me more than it helped. True enough, i was able to relax, my anxiety was gone,i was taking this for anxiety from my eating disorder. But, i was like a walking zombie on this drug, i couldnt concentrate. I felt like i was drunk twenty-four hours a day. i had to have my life back, so i eased off the drug and i am now have a handle on my anxiety, drug free. My head is clear and i can think.

I love being able to leave my house & not worry that I'm going to panic in public. I have taken this med. for 1 1/2 years & the ONLY down side I've ever had was memory loss. I take it before bed & it stays in my system all day til bed time! LOVE IT!!!

This has helped me through my anxiety attacks and just the feeling of being anxious. I am only on .5mg per day. It doesn't help me as much as it used to but it still is a good pill.

this the worst drug i have ever been on. used it for bipolar and panic attacks. it wiped out all long and short term memory for about the last 30 years. i just don't remember anything from before i started it to when i stopped.i effectably lost 30 years of my life! it also made me gain weight-at least 85 pounds. i became so forgetful that i was continually looking for everything, even something i had just had in my hand(sometimes it was in the other hand). i was tired ALL the time and spent a good part of my days in bed. at least that is what my dr. and my charts say (i just don't remember). it didn't take away the panic attacks or the manic or depressive episodes. i have been on many drugs (perscription only) and i would NEVER use it again. there are other drugs that work MUCH better. the reason i gave it 3 stars is because i couldn't give it less. it destroyed my life! am now on other drugs that work so well that i wouldn't consider this drug for any reason!Read More Read Less

i have had panic disorder for over 30 yrs., started taking klonopin 16 yrs ago.., helped for many many years., was able to do things i could not do before. however., side effects were bad., weight gain, tired., increase dosage over the yrs. now at a stand still point., will not take any more then 6mg a day.. i am afraid of withdrawel symptoms., i would like to get off of it one day., as the side effects are somewhat annoying., started to effect me after a few yrs of taking this medication. breathing problems, sleep apnea... things i believe may have come from the constant use of klonopin. i feel if you are not a strong person., this drug can become very addictive., and you can start to take more and more if your not carefull., i know i am not going over the amount i now take., as the side effects now have gotten worse over the years., in the beggining klonopin worded amazing... now,i believe i am so used to the dose i take., it does not help as much., and i am going to find it so hard to off.. i just would recommend it for short term use., otherwise it will be too hard to get off of it., Read More Read Less

Been taking Klonopin for anxiety for about six months now. I like that it will not leave me in a fog like xanax does but it seems that I need more dosage to get the same calming effect that i get from xanax. Its easy to use. Its been ok.

Have had panic disorder since 83. Xanax would stop the attack almost immediately. But a new Dr. (I moved) put me on this hot mess and I was on it for approx. 12 years. Had PA on it anyway and barely took care of my anxiety. Gradual withdrawing after 6 wks. left me still needing .5 mg a day (was taking 1 mg 3x day. Also, it slowed my motivation to do much of anything greatly. Xanax is fast acting and fast leaving while Klonopin is slow acting and slow to leave body. Pretty much back just on Xanax now...not enough $$$ to get me dependent on klonopin again. Besides, I'm allergic to aspirin, Nsaids, etc. so if a Xanax doesn't stop an attack, I know I'd better get to a hospital quick. Klonopin didn't give me that option.Read More Read Less

I've been taking the 1mg medication 3 times a day for almost 2 years now, I don't get the panic attacks like I use to, but I still get the paranoid feelings and nervousness I use to get before I was on the medication, but now a panic attack normally doesn't follow.

I was given this med (.5 mg 3x a day) to take the edge off when I started taking Prozac for panic attacks. I only took it as needed for 2 weeks, but it was very helpful for me. I have had Xanax (1 mg) and Valium (2mg) for panic attacks in the past and the Klonopin works just as well in smaller doses, which is great for me! It helped without making me feel totally fogged in and tired, like the other anti-anxiety stuff I have been given.

I find Klonopin to be very effective when taken on a more of a scheduled time, as opposed to "as needed". It works well because it sticks around alot longer then other anxiety medicines. Withdrawl will make you feel like digging a cave, i mean, horrible and this is coming from an "ex" drug addict. Not that i'm addicted to klonopin cause I believe and my doctor believes i need them, but i have been addicted to drugs in the past. Ive tried to get off it slowly, it worked but when I got off them the panic attacks came back, so I went back, Ive been on them for 7 years and for longtime use i would agree with this drug for a sense of normalcy in some cases.Read More Read Less

I have been on klonopin for ten years, I suffer from severe panic attacks, well recently I started going to the methadone clinic for addiction and they are against being on klonopin when on methadone, so they took me off the klonopin and I wanted to die I had full blown attacks so finally their Psychiatrist put me back on them and told me I needed them, but I have to be careful cause of the methadone. Anyways I can live without fearing another attack and this is the best drug for panic disorders, I have never abused this drug, I take it as prescribed, I would have probably died if he did not put me back on it. I live my life just fine, and as for the methadone I will be off this drug soon. I would rather take my klonopin then the methadone, People have overdosed cause of the mixing, and I dont want to take that chance so the methadone will go first. I would bet my life on klonopin, it is a wonder drug, I have not had an attack since they put me back on.Read More Read Less

My special needs son has been taking Klonopin for a few months. He had quite a bit of anxiety and panic attacks. Klonopin has treated these just fine. We have recently realized he is having trouble urinating. We hope a slight decrease in the medication may help this but if not we may have to discontinue. That would be too bad. Also has had sleep trouble and increased appetite leading to weight gain.
