I had the most debilitating panic attacks! I started getting them at 23 yrs old. Beforehand, I didn't even know there was such a thing! I thought I was having a heart attack (other panic-disorder sufferers know what I mean!) So, for YEARS, I would have an attack w/out any outside trigger or reason. I stopped drinking coffee, alcohol, and even thought that I was causing them from eating high-fat fo...

Until June, I have been on 6mgs of this poison for seven years. In my opinion, it is given out to easily, prescribed at high doses for too long at a time, and is highly addictive if used for most two weeks. I've been going through withdrawal for weeks and it is only the beginning of what I will endure. Just watch the videos on Youtube or Google Klonopin Withdrawal and you will be horrified. I have...

I had restless leg syndrome for many years and finally went to a doctor in Montana and was prescribed Klonopin and it has helped.

I was prescribed Klonopin for anxiety. Within a month, it stopped working. I built a tolerance to the drug. What I DID not know was that the drug is HIGHLY physically addictive. I spoke to a Neurologist who told me that is as addictive as heroin or alcohol. She told me that it is VERY dangerous to withdraw from Klonopin suddenly. She gave me a slow taper schedule, but it was VERY difficult. I experienced tremors, nausea, and sweats during the withdrawal period. After the last does, it took 35 hours to completely leave my system...and the anxiety came back with a vengeance. This drug should only be used for a very short time. In my opinion, Klonopin should have a black box warning on the label.Read More Read Less

I have been taking it for 9 years in a 20mg dosage daily. I am in day 13 of going cold turkey. No one will help me. I just want to know how long are the withdraws?

When I was a little girl, my mother has "agoriphobia" and, for a time, she would never leave the house. I swore I would never be like that. I thought she should just get over it and I was a little embarrassed by her "illness." But one day I was driving with my two children in the car, and out of the blue I had this sense of impending doom, my heart was slamming in my chest, and I was terrified that I would die behind the wheel and my children would die in a subsequent car crash. I went to see a doctor who, luckily, had some training in the signs of hormonal imbalance and a LOT more compassion than I showed my mom. I was diagnosed as being peri-menopausal. Klonopin was the first stop-gap for me - it saved me from becoming a prisoner in my home, as my mom had been. It also helped me help HER discover that this was a medical disorder, not a mental one.(I still feel guilty for how I treated her.) That helped HER find help as well. I was off Klonipin for years, and started taking it again after breast cancer. Unfortunately I am now on a drug that robs me of estrogen for life)and low estrogen was my problem in the beginning. Having to deal with hot flashes and panic again, my doc put me on up to .5 mg per day (half pill as needed). I don't take it every day - the problem seems to follow a monthly calendar. But when I do take it, I'm able to get on with life: no drowsiness, no drugged-up feeling. The doc did try anti-depressants which actually increased my symptoms - which, he said, didn't surprise him. This medication is my rescue, not my daily regime. I resisted taking it even as often as I currently do, but he said I am not refilling my script half as often as I am allowed, so he said I need to think of this in terms of being a rescue companion to the drug that keeps me from having breast cancer again. I am prescribed to take 1 mg.2xdaily, but don't need it quite as much now. I've been taking Klonopin for anxiety. For me, it lasts longer than xanax ect...no longer makes me sleepy, yet it does relax me. Klonopin is very addicting.

I have been taking clonazepam for 5 years and it has totally blocked my daily panic attacks. No sedation or tiredness either. I occasionally take an Ativan if my panic goes out of control, but in my opinion, it is the same, but better than xanax because it lasts much longer. Love xanax though.

i started treatment in march 2008, 0.5mg, after everything else failed, one pill 2 times a day made me too tired , i cut back over time to where i take no more than one a day; 1/2 in the morning & 1/2 at night, what a difference!, for 4 years i was parylized with panic all day long, couldn't work, drive, nothing,i lived in a shell, after trying 8 medications it was the only one that works for me, this medicine along with changing the way i looked at my anxiety on my own, i have improved, my confidence is back. my fiance has panic disorder too, she also uses klonopin, she still has panic, but i'm helping her ,changing how you think about anxiety along with klonopin worked for me. the drug caused no side effect's and in my feeling was the launching pad i needed to recover from what was no less than a 4 year nightmare of panic, fear, and what seemed to be a hopeless situation, after trying all of the depression meds which made my panic worse, or just plain did nothing, klonopin 0.5 mg did it! changes in my thinking about panic helped too, keeping active, doing a hobby helps too!Read More Read Less

My doctor started me on .25mg a day. Just after 4 months I am already taking .5mg twice a day. The medication is very effective for my daily anxiety, but I have noticed that my body is getting immune to it. I will discontinue should I need another increase. The amount that I take now does cause drowsiness and working in the medical field, I do need to be alert. Also, be aware if you do take this drug that it can be very addictive.

very rarely do i have a break through seizure. Actually I think I've only had two breakthrough seizures. They also work great for panic attacks which happen between seizures because I have PTSD from being in a coma for a month

Klonopin is the best Anti-Anxiety, Panic Disorder medication I have been on. I have tried XANAX , VALIUM, BUSPAR, and they all dont work as well for me as Klonopin does. I take it 4 times a day and it gets me through my day.

After trying many other drugs to which I had adverse reactions, Klonopin was the one that worked to control panic attacks. The one side effect (not exclusive to Klonopin) is the emotional numbing ---
