It's MUCH more convenient than taking Atrovent multiple times/day & I've been taking it daily since shortly after FDA approval in 2004. Very effective, long-lasting med which is helpful for COPD patients especially. Side effects are pretty mild (at least for me). It may be causing slightly elevated resting heart rate, but otherwise haven't noticed side effects as long as I take it in the mornin...

My dr. prescribed this but after finding out the price was around 300.00 or more I couldn't get it. I am disabled and on medicare but insurance won't cover it. There should be other drugs out there that would replace this for a better price.

Very expensive, that's not my biggest complaint. I kept using this drug, it never seem to help my copd . Every time I put the tablet in the device, I would suck the powder into my lungs. Nothing. I opened the all colored tablet, Just to see if there was any powder at all, no powder I was outraged . They need to make a pill you can see the powder. I just wonder how many are using this product?

Not cheap. Effective although. Biggest problem. Ha dialed does not work all the time. Capsule breaks inside, not a clean puncture. I have various handihaler each 30 days. Once pinctured, there goes a dollar. This late lot 15C3206, already lost 6. Where do I complain, what number do I call.

I've been on Spiriva everyday since 2008. I don't feel it has been effective for me at all when it comes to my breathing problems. Also experience dry mouth and blurred vision from it. Plan on trying to get off of it

Well the spiriva works when I don't get a dud capsule. Anyone else out there have the same problem??? I had 3 bad capsules this week alone, getting super frustrated because of the cost of this medication. My father in law has experienced the same issues.

I do not like this medicine at all. It's causing blurry vision and nausea. My teeth have started hurting because of the dry mouth. I quit taking it on my own. I also have empty capsules so evidently they never improved their production process to address this complaint.

Ive been having vision problems starting after having cataract surgery, strabismus surgery and brow surgery all in 2011 that my Opthamologist ignored my concerns, until at one appointment I made the comment, why should I explain concerns when theyre never addressed. That day,I got a thorough testing! I was then referred to the Cornea specialist, and then to the Retina Specialist, having many tests, and even repeat testings in a short time span. After all this,I have been diagnosed with having the beginnings of macular degeneration, which was not there prior to my surgeries, but is there now. I had been using Spiriva occasionally when the humidity was high to alleviate breathing problems. Then daily as the literature directed. EVERYTHING that was performed on my eyes surgically has now become a problem. The Toric lenses used cause double vision, the surgery to straighten my right eye was a waste, and the brow surgery caused thinning of the cornea! Having any , or all corrected will cause more problems than experienced prior. Wondering if Spiriva caused vision problems, I performed this search only to find many others experiencing vision problems. My physician had prescribed another inhaler, that after I read the included fact sheet, I wouldnt use. On my next visit, I asked her if she knew the side effects of these meds, or medications she prescribed, and I got a No answer. WHY would we as patients have procedures to correct problems, only to use medications that reverse, or worsen the situation just to aid another symptom? I for one, am just sick to find my vision problems of late may be caused from Spiriva! Read More Read Less

Have been on Spiriva for 9 years and had been very satisfied with the performance of the medication. However, the cost is prohibitive for a senior on a Medicare RX plan as Spiriva raised the price by %538.18 this year so my insurance will no longer cover the medication. Will have to look for an alternative.

I have taken this for my copd for many years along with Advair an proair. My eyes are bad an keep getting worse but at 70 yrs how can I know what for sure causes what. What I dislike the most with this prescription is the terrible customer support or lack of I should say. They treat you like a idiot robot an its your fault their capsules were empty or the handihaler didn't work. They have made me so mad with their same robot questions about how I properly handle their product I hang up on them. Lousy company support and I have no idea what or what not this medicine is doing or not doing for me since I am taking Advair an proair too.But I know will never call them again and Thank god for' Walgreens' helping me out an not leaving me without medicine for to long such as this company would have, since Medicare wont pay until it is time for a refill.Read More Read Less

I have been using Spiriva for several years. It slightly improves COPD symptoms for me. It is often difficult to use because the delivery system is very poor - - sometimes you feel a little piece of the capsule go down your trachea when you inhale it; frequently, the delivery device works so poorly it doesn't make a hole in the capsule where it should be and the powder discharges improperly, if at all. There is hardly enough powder in a capsule to see, so I don't see what difference a clear capsule might make (as suggested in other reviews). I have contacted the Lab that makes it at least twice now to try to get a better quality product (the cost now is $400 a month - - -it should be absolutely perfect). I'm sure we can manufacture the same material here in our country for much less cost. Spiriva users are simply being taken by this German lab - - -. At least until now, it is the only such product with the exact effective ingredients.Read More Read Less

Honestly it is hard for me to tell how effective this medicine is for me as I take other meds along with this one.I will say this,at the ripe old age of 52 I was diagnosed with cateracts and had to undergo surgery.Eye doctor pointed out Spiriva and Combivent usage. Also, noticed that some of the capsules did't produce a slight taste that I had become accustomed to. Upon reading other similar complaints, I decided to inspect one third of a box to see if any capsules were empty.Out of 10 capsules, 1 was empty. If that held true for the other two sheets, 10 percent of the medicine was not even there!Although this percentage is not huge,I doubt they would except only 90% of my expensive co-pay.Called them, they asked for lot# and exp. date and was told they would be in touch. That was over 7mo ago.At least for me,I don't think this medicine is worth the money. There are other meds that aren't advertised so much, or at all, that seem to work better.Read More Read Less

Has anyone found empty capsules in their Spiriva supply? Just found the third one in about 6 months. Unacceptable, especially considering the cost of this drug.

I have taken this for a month. It has improved how deeply I can inhale and I can come off oxygen for longer periods.I can cook,do dishes, work in my yard for awhile.I used to taste the medicine but now I can inhale hard enough to bypass my tongue and get it straight to my lungs.I haven't had any empty capsules ,I open them after I use them to check for residue and it is always there so I guess taste doesn' account for much. Also there are programs in every state to help you pay for medicines if you can't afford them. I don't know what good I can say about this medication. I took one a day with water and a meal. I saw no difference. I began swallowing two a day and still no difference. Sometimes though I find the blue capsule still intact in my stool. What gives???
