I was giving prescriptions for cipro 500mg 3x a day and flagyl 500mg 2x a day for diverticlitis. I was allergic to the flagyl and had to stop taking it after taking three doses. I had a red rash all over my body. I devolped thrush after two days on the meds. I have been taking nystatin for 7 days with no results.The taste is terrible and it makes me feel dizzy and weak. Why do doctors continue to prescrib nystatin for thrush when there is something better to take.

Use Flucon tablets for 14 days and now Nystatin Oral Suspension for 6 days. I'm able to swallow, no pain, no spots on the roof of my mouth anymore, I didn't know you were supposed to not eat for 10-15 minutes after taking it-thanks reviewers. The taste is not bad at all, the consistency is like a half beaten egg and it's yellow like that, sort of grose, but it's been working. I hope this thrush in my mouth does not return. It's difficult to differentiate between the need to brush your tongue clean and the thrush. I'm throwing toothbrushes away every 3 days, it's crazy.Read More Read Less

I had colon surgery and was on anti biotics for a long time and I have developed a oral thrush I am on my fifth bottle of nystatin oral suspension. what else can i do thanks faye

I was given this by my doctor, and only tried it once. THE TASTE WAS SO HORRIBLE< I gagged on it, and ended up vomiting. It is the nastiest thing I have ever put in my mouth. Told my doctor, and he said keep trying, but no way can I do this. Hopefully when I see my doctor tommorrow he will give me something else YUCKY Stuff.

My baby's 7 months old she came down with thrush the dr prescribed the medicine.It's hard to open her mouth and keep it open to rub the med on her spots.It seems to be working a little,but the outsides of her mouth are very irritated and red.Im going to call the dr tom. to see if she should stay on it or try something else.

my doctor prescribed a 10 day trmtmt, 0n tsp, 4 times a day. After first 5 days I failed to swish it on a regular basis. Very yucky taste. My tongue has stung so that I live on lozenges. Now eating 4 to 5 Yoplait daily. It's helping and refraim from eating breads, and sugars. Mouth is still very chalky.

i was on two different medications for a viral infection after the second one killed the infection i got thrush my tongue felt like sandpaper my stomach made weird noises my chest burned and my eyes burned.i prescribed nystatin and it seemed to be working great and quickly. when i finished it i was sure it was gone so i dank beer and ate like i normally do and it came back 2 weeks later now im on day 1 again. forget about drinking beer and good food for a while if it feels like it's gone it is'nt now im gonna do a 14 day program and pray and eat healthy Read More Read Less

I had a bad case of bronchitis and was on antibiotics and steriod inhalers. I got a bad case of thrush all over my tongue, mouth, throat and it was on my vocal cords...the ENT gave me DIFULUCAN for 5 days and 14 days of the Nistatin. It cleared it up. ALSO a really good tip that my old ENT gave me as I had this once before from a steroid inhaler...HE TOLD me to mix 50/50 of the mouthwash CEPACOL and peroxide. Then take a soft tooth brush and gently dip it in the cup with the cepacol and peroxide and brush your tongue. I did that 2x per day and it works like a charm. Read More Read Less

I used this medication because I had thrush from a high dose of antibiotics.

My 6 week old daughter was prescribed Nystatin due to thrush and after 2 days of using it she experienced painful abdominal pains she cried in pain after each feeding as I read reviews on this medication I realized that it is one of the side effects so I stopped the medication and will be speaking to her Dr.

I had a sore throat for a couple days. I had a Docs appointmend just to have my Med refilss (I am disabled do to my back) She looked at my throat and though I strep, but did a swab and came back and told me I had a Yeast infection. I asked her how a person gets a yeast infect in thier Mouth and she shaid yeast is all over in your body and more normal people my age do not get it unless they have a comprimized immune system like with HIV and Hepatites. So they took Blood and I will know in a do or 2 my test results, I have been tested a million times for HIV and TB and Hepititus do to differnt jobs, But the more I read about it, there are a TON of other reasons people get it. Stress, smokers, Some medicationsand other reasons. So If IhavetheBAD ONES, it will be new. Anyways, she gave my nystatin and I have noticed a BIG differnce in just 2 days Just getting a hoarse voice but I have read that that is common with Thrush. I take all kinds of Meds from Opiates(oxycodone, Fentynal patch, Morphine, and various others) and I smoke and have somen bad teeth (due to the Fentynal). One of my meds has a side effect of Dry Mouth (which is another cause of Thrush. Also Sugar can cause it. A lot of it, Its Halloween and I had been eatting a ton of Reeses P.B. cups. and I like to suck on them. anyways, Nystatin seems be working for me. not no more pain just a slight cough and hoarse voice. I am on the first dose of my second bottle of Nystatin 100,000 units, my tongue is better, but, rash has not left. I will use this bottle, and contact my Doctor if rash is still prestnt.

i get thrush sometimes & this really helps

I took it into the mouth for Candida, as prescribed by the doctor. It helped, but the problems, especially post nasal drip, returned after the bottle was empty. After repeating it many times, with the same results, I tried to put a drop into the nose (after all, post nasal drip originates in the nose). The result was immediate - harsh burning deep inside the nose and the drip was gone within a few days. Nose is clear and free, but still fluid is coming out when sneezing, I suspect from the cavities where the fungus must have resided. Very little difference. I am now on the generic for Diflucan. Strangely when I asked a pharmacist about Diflucan for this, he said it would not work. Well, it has worked better so far than the liquid nystatin. Read where a woman said she got the thrush from her usage of nicotine gum. I also have gotten this I believe from using the nicotine lozenge combined with a strong dose of Cipro. Get off those nicotine replacement things!

I have a hard time taking it because it makes me very sick to my stomach.

THESE MOUTH SORES (WHITE;CAUSES BY STOMACH ACID) PER THE GASTRO DR.; HAVE COME BACK ABOUT 3 TIMES IN THE PAST 1 1/2 YEARS. REALLY DON'T KNOW WHY CONTINUE TO RETURN.

I developed a yeast infection of the throat to go with a bacterial infection of the ears that spread to my lymph glands. I had the yeast prior to taking the antibiotics for the bacterial infection. This medicine began giving me relief from the pain and misery after the first dose. After 3 days I have already improved greatly. The flavor is very easy to tolerate. I gargle with the solution for as long as I can keep it in my mouth, at least three times prior to swallowing. The medication also coats the back and lower end of my throat which wouldn't get treated if it was spit out.
