I have been using Flexeril on and off for the last 15 years following a serious head on auto accident some 35 years ago. It is designed to provide relief from muscle cramping. In my system it has a 12 hour half life, meaning it decreases its effectiveness by 1/2 in 12 hours. Other people get an 8 hour half life from it. It lists its first side effect as drowsiness and I would have to agree. I...

Do not take this med. OMG. I just researched this after taking for a diagnosis of sciatica (which I never do, I usually do extensive research). READ the side effects people. I have had horrible constipation for weeks (just figured it out after reading side effects). I am 124 lbs, size 4-6, the distension (sp?) is like I'm 4 months pregnant, the excruciating lower back pain due to the constitpati...

This was prescribed for my restless legs. For at least 15 years I have taken 30 mg/ night to get my legs to calm down. Occasionally I would supplement with 2 aspirins to take the edge off. Lately though, I have had restlessness even sitting through dinner or watching TV and have been supplementing with 3 aspirins daily.

Had very painful back and side tightness, spasm and at times stabbing pain for three months. Started taking this and the very first pill helped tremendously! I was so surprised that it work so well and so fast.

I was having pain on the inner wall of my chest and my MD prescribed me this medication 3 times a day but after taking it the first day I noticed how well it worked but the down side is the amount of drowsiness and relaxation. I only take it at night before bed and I will fall deep asleep. The morning after I will wake up feel very well rested but still kind of slow. This pill lasts about 10-12 hours

In my system it has a 12 hour half life, meaning it decreases its effectiveness by 1/2 in 12 hours. Other people get an 8 hour half life from it. It lists its first side effect as drowsiness and I would have to agree. I can only take it at night or I am fighting a feeling of tiredness during the day. I am aware of others who cut the 10mg pills in half and they get excellent relief from muscle cramping without the tiredness. I have read some of the comments and people appear upset because the medication doesn't work for them. I try to keep an open mind about medications. A single medication simply will not work for everyone. Flexeril is not a pain medication. It is a muscle relaxer and seems to stop muscle cramping for me. When it relieves my muscle cramping it gives me relief from the pain that is caused by muscle cramping. You need to work with your Doctor to find the medication that works best for you and your conditions. Many Doctors don't have the time to research the medications available so they prescribe the ones they are familiar with. I have found that I can do basic research on my computer and print out a list of meds that may work for me and go over it with my Doctor. Many Doctors are egocentric and get upset when the patient makes suggestions but its always worth a try if you are suffering and in pain. If it doesn't work, maybe a new Doctor is in order. My dad took this pill for a few days and it did help his pain but this medication is also making him hallucinate all sorts of things. Even if it helped with the pain, it's not really worth taking if you're going to hallucinate zombies and other spooks being in the room with you.

I hurt my lower back in 2009 and I was given this medication to help with lower back muscle spasms and it works wonders for me. I have had 4 surgeries done on my lower back 2 of which were major and this medication is a life saver for me.. I take it 3x's a day to help with and prevent muscle spasms which at times can be crippling. I don't get much side effects but every once and a while I will get blurry vision but it passes pretty quickly.. To me it's amazing.

Got this drug for a pain in my lower back when I awoke and tried to stand. It helped me go to sleep, bu still had the pain in the morning. Caused me to have stomach problems and the runs, took it for a couple of weeks and gave up on it. If I could only find a cheap source of codine.

I have OA and a bulging disc in my lower back. I find medication helps keep my pain under control during the night. I only take it when needed and never if I am going to be driving or need to be alert. This along with daily exercises keep me active.

Extreme arm and shoulder pain and down into fingers. Unknown etiology as I woke up with it. X-rays show possible cervical link. Do not do well with meds! But, I was one handed that day! Given this plus nabumetone for inflammation. So, I let me be bullied and took with food both meds. I was knocked out! They did indeed improve arm. But my stomache and digestive are damaged! I had so much pain, horrible bathroom trips and fever and chills. Was dizzy to start out with and tons of nausea. So, I was asleep or sick and crying. Hell of a way to get better! Stopped this and kept nabumetone. Spent the night up horribly sick, but definitely slightly better with tired part. So, please be careful with this! I am a stomache, woozy pill taker... But, this one stopped me in my tracks and food I think made it worse than better as I HAD TO THEN EMPTY my stomach to get pain to stop to rest and get out of the blasted bathroom! Yuk! I have severe, crippling lower back spasms which hit once or twice a year, this calms them. Drawback is that it hits me like a ton of bricks, but I just take it when I can sleep and not have to be out and about. That's the reason I docked 1 star off "Ease of use", but I also have a very low tolerance for drowsiness effects in Rx meds.

had lower back spasms from a tight siactica. Drs. (DO) adjustments really worked the best, but hw won't marry me. Yoga is a pretty good alternative, so will keep seeing him and mornings with Rodney Yee - exceptional yoga video instructor. Fav is his am yoga dvd.
