I have only been taking PTU a short time but, so far it has worked. Although, I am still suffering some of the symptoms they have decreased substantially. The pills do leave a bitter taste in your mouth but, only if they touch your tongue. For this I recommend covering the pill completely in a spoonful of applesauce or yogurt and then swallowing as soon as it hits your mouth. By doing so I am ...
I really do not know what to think of this drug at all.

At first effective at treating my hyperthyroidism during pregnancy. Have since had my child and after a short break without it, am back on the medication. I've developed a serious rash, joint pain, headache and fever that may be attributed to the medication. Please talk to your doctor immediately if you notice any unusual changes in your body. I am now forced to consider radioactive iodine treatment earlier than expected.

Worked very well to control my thyroid and was safe enough to use during pregnancy. If it's not working for you, your dose may be too low - talk to your endocrinologist!

Totally controls my graves disease. Better option than surgery and I don't want radio-active iodine b/c I want another kid soon.
