45 yr old female. Healthy. Experiencing migraines with loss of vision. I can deal w/the headaches, but cannot work with vision imparement. Was prescribed 4mg at bedtime. Wow, I sleep like a baby and dream every nite. It seems to help, I was having vision issues almost daily, now it is better. Watch out.....your appetite will take off. Worth the relief, I am very cautious about taking anything and I have not experienced any strange effects, besides the appetite. Worth a try. Although I dont think I would take this during the day b/cause of drowsiness. Good for at bedtime.Read More Read Less

it makes you sleepy for over 9 hrs. but go to sleep early it prevents headaches

My dermatologist prescribed this medication for a chronic hive condition I have. It stopped the itching and burning, but the hives still appeared. I was just happy that the itching stopped! But.......my appetite increased dramatically and I gained alot of weight. I would not recommend this medication if you have a chronic condition or are watching your weight.

I am unsure what i am to feel from this drug

after trying everything for migraines and running out 90 day [20]imitrix shots at $80 each!tried this. 2 at bedtime.up to 3 allowed.now stockpiling imitrix!!1 shot does it and active that day when a migrane does occur not 4 shots over 2 days and bedridden. only side effect....im on weightwatchers!!

This medication has helped me gain the weight I have always wanted. I went from a size 0 to a size 4 in 2 months.

This medication has definitely increased my appetite. But, it causes me extreme fatigue, even though my dosage is low. Therefore. I am unable to take the medication as recommended because it causes extreme drowsiness. Nonetheless, it has done that which it was intended to do.

I had been diagnosed with a cavernous angioma appox 7 months before. I began seeing a neurologist on a regular basis. He began to try many different medications with no luck. He placed me on Periactin(cyproheptadine) about 1 month ago. After dealing with chronic headaches and migraines for the past 2 years, I am amazed at how well this medicine has helped to control them. I take one pill at bedtime and have little to no side effects. The worst side effect I have had from this medicine was dizziness. It has only happened 2 times since I started taking this medication. My 15 year old cat seems to have what his veterinarian calls feline demensia. He doesn't seem to remember that he needs to eat and use his litter box. The vet prescribed 1m of this twice a day. Has anyone ever heard of using this medication on cats. I'm hoping it will help, my cat is failing fast.

my 8yr old takes the for headache,but they dont know why she's haveing them. i was told for her to take this med to prevent the headache, its works becouse all it does is make her go to sleep,i dont think it right for a child to be taking med to prevent a headache...but what aim i to do..

it caused my daughter to break out in serious hives that was leading to her eyes and made her try to pass-out at school.

My 2 yr old has taken this for about 4 yrs for esophilic gastroenteritis (basically hay fever of the stomach) and it is has been extremely helpful. It also helped with weight gain.

this treatment has helped me put on weight after the loss of my appetite due to sickle cell crisis.

not eating

After taking this med for 2 months, my 10 yr old son has gained 14 lbs. His previous weight was 60 lbs. He's now an (almost) hefty 74 lbs!
