6 years ago, I was having about 1 gout attack a month in my feet and ankles, which would last for up to 2 weeks. The attacks were so bad I would end up on the floor in tears. I've broken many bones and had sprains due to my athletic lifestyle. The gout pain is/was by far was the most painful of anything I've experienced. I started on 100 mg of Allopurinol for 2 months, but the attacks still came. ...

Have noticed lower back pain into my 9 weeks of taking RX, (may not be related.) Gout attacks had become numerous and effecting more joints each attack, before beginning alopurinol. No severe attacks for last 3-weeks. Something seems to be working. 100mg daily dose. Drowsiness may or may not be associated as I also take 9 other meds daily. No stomach problems. If it stops the gout....I'm all for it....

My Doctor forewarned me of the possibility of a diarreha reaction so he suggested one 0.6mg pill every four hours instead of every one to two hours. I have taken 4 pills in 18 hours with a world of difference. Swelling has gone down 50% and the pain has subsided considerably. This was my 3rd and worst bout with gout and Allopurinol saved my day,

No attacks since i began 300mg daily, 6 years ago. About 40 50 0z water daily. Uric acid level has been lower range of normal. It does take about 6 months for the body to get adjusted and back to normal. Very recomended!.

Had 3 bouts with kidney stones and have now gone over a year with no symptoms or kidney stone attacks. I use it with Potassium Citrate and it has worked wonders. Also, a very inexpensive way to solve the problem. I get refills monthly for $4.

I naturally over produce uric acid and this has helped lower the amount of uric acid in my body.

I started on this medicine over 12 years ago. It was HELL the first 6 months as I was having attack after attack as uric acid needles dissolved and broke apart. Gradually the flair ups became less server and less frequent. If you asked me what I thought of that drug at that time, I’d not have wished it on any one. But I have not had a serious flair up in over 10 years. I was tempted to go off this med during the work out phase. I’m glad now that I did not. It has been a real life saver.

After having severe gout in my knees I was prescribed this drug as a daily regimen. That was over 20 years ago and I haven't missed a dose since and I haven't had another bout with gout. I'm afraid to stop taking it because of the fear of gout recurring. Gout is the worse thing I've ever had to deal with especially when it went to my knees...I cried like a baby and there was nothing the doctor could do! This is one drug I'll take forever I suppose.

I have been taking this medication for years and it has worked!! I seem to have a very high uric acid in my blood and my doctor advised taking 2 pills of 300a day. Is this too much? My druggist said that was VERY high dose. He thought it should be a short time dose.. I called to ask my doctor with no response. What do you think?
