I've just recently completed my 10th day of this medication. I'm not recommending this medication,due to the side effects I experience while taking this drug. I've taken cephalosporins before and never had a problem. After taking this medication I feel worstc than prior this drug therapy. I was given this medication due to a sinus infection, however after a few days My tongue and throat became extremely sore, and my symptoms got worst I didn't improve. The roof of my mouth became irritated and sore. My tongue and throat felt inflamed. I called my PCP office and asked them to call me in Diflucan thinking the irritation in my mouth was possibly due to a yeast infection. Aa if the above symptoms weren't emough,I started having some breathing diffilty and had to elevate my head on pillows to help make breathing easier. No I never smoked nor am I around anyone that smokenver been diagnose with any respiratory problems. I do have seasonal allergies, howeever nothihg serious that an over the counter medication wouldn't take care of. In essence after taking this drug I don't recommend this antibiotic. I'm making appointment with my PCP to inform him of present symptoms and that I will never take this drug again. Read More Read Less

I had an allergic reaction to Cefdiner - Omnicef, first time in my life I had an allergic reaction to something. I would never take this medicine again. After taking the second pill I developed this rash all over my boddy that I had to go to ER. Today is the fifth day and the rash is still coming back and it's itching now - it does not go away. I'm taking benedryl at night and Prednisone in the morning. What a bad experience with this drug.

My son is 6 and he started taking this medicine Omnicef 4 days ago he has also began with diarrhea and itchy all over. I wonder if this medicine is helping or hurting him. I am a bit scared now that I know these symptoms are coming from the medicine. Also might I mention it has caused to urinate a whole lot more than usual. As he in he came home from school 2 days in a row in different clothing because he had wet himself at school and NEVER before has he done this. Was prescribed 14 doses of 875 mg of Augmentin TWICE after being diagnosed with a double ear infection and sinus infection. Still didn't feel well and felt extreme pain when swallowing, along with being severely congested. Went back to my doc, was given an antibiotic shot to jump start the Omnicef I was prescribed after my doc told me that I had one of the worst cases of tonsilitis she had ever seen (tonsil was touching uvula, lots of pus...GROSS). She thought I had a tonsillar (tonsular?) abcess it was so large. This appears to be clearing everything up, FINALLY. I have been sick since Sept. 17 (including a 101 fever for 10 days) and I can finally breathe through my nose and swallow without wincing. Omnicef was great...for me, at least. After 7 days of use my 13 year old son developed welps the size of golf balls. They start out looking like bug bites and get bigger. Mostly appear on joints, with swelling and itching. Also has developed a low grade fever, stomach cramps as well as watery loose stools. This is the 4th time being prescribed this medication. 3 months ago he developed mild welps as he was finishing up a 10 day prescription. Praying he is better in the morning (sickness is always worst at night) if not better then will return to doctor, if worsens tonight then to ER we go. I will never give this antibotic to my children again. It should be taken off the market!Read More Read Less

This medication just about did me in. I started taking it for a sore throat. My sore throat cleared but after taking this drug for two days, I was exhausted to the point that I thought I had mono or something worse. I am very disappointed in my doctor for not changing my prescription after I called her twice to report how exhausted I was, not to mention my lack of appetite. Doctors do not seem to take medicine interactions seriously and I don't understand it. The upside is that I lost five pounds while taking it. But, never again. The medicine cleared my 14month old daughters double middle ear infections no problem. However, she has been off of the medicine for 1 week now, and still has diarrhea. Now she has diaper rash and redness on her butt and vaginal area because there is so much stool in her diaper.

my 16 year old daughter is on 2nd day and 3rd dose of omnicef..woke up with severe swollen throat and could barely breath...am taking her back to doctor this morning for she feels this will get worse , not better. Her throat looks more swollen this morning than it did before she went to doctor and started taking this drug. Note:..the doctor didn't even swab test her for strep..she just assume because of symptoms that it was strep...which also has same symtoms of mono which i pointed out to doctor. should have not use this doctor ...she sent me home a year ago with antibiotics for pnemonia and within 12 hours i was hospitalized with no blood pressure and kidneys shutting down..i will have to report her lack of treatments on patients if my daughter continues to have severe side effects to omnicef because she is not thorough in her exams and assumes diagnosis.Read More Read Less

My two year old son was prescribed Omnicef for strep throat and had extreme behavioral side effects. He became aggressive, angry and extremely moody. He also had what can best be described as night terror episodes which were terrifying and extremely out of character. I insisted on switching him to another antibiotic halfway through the Omnicef course. His behavior slowly readjusted over the next few days as the Omnicef was out of his system and he is now back to his normal self. While this is not a side effect listed in the studies of the drug, there are too many instances of parents with similar experiences online for there not to be a correlation. my 9 year old took this med. and broke out into hives , with chest pain and her fever got worse. i would not recomend this drug for anyone, it made her more misserable than without it, and she has only took 2 doses.

I was perscribed Omnicef for a sinus infection. By day 2 I had a horrible yeast infection, very painful. That was followed by diarreah, bloody stools, and very painful stomach cramping. I have been off of this medicine for 2 days and I am still feeling horrible waiting for it to be out of my system. I will never take this again. The bloody stools and painful cramping were quite frightening for me.

This morning at 1:30 am I was rushed to the emergency room because my eyelids were swelling and itchy, along with grape size hives on my back. The only thing the doctors pinned this as, is an allergic reaction to Omnicef.

Absolutely horrible! This medication made me vomit for 36 hours straight. I ended up in the ER because I could not keep anything in my stomach. I am 24 years old and I have never had any problems with antibiotics before. Be careful with Omnicef, avoid it if you can!

This drug caused such horrible diarrhea after 2 doses and I took mega doses of acidophilis with it to not have this side effect! I continued to feel horrible for a good 24 hours after the last dose with intestinal cramps and over all yucky feeling. I have never had this side effect occur so quickly and wouldn't recommend this to anyone that wanted to continue to work and not spend the day in the bathroom!

This is the worst drug I have ever taken. After my second dose, I had accute diarrhea despite taking mega doses of acidophilis with each dose to combat this possible side effect! Besides the diarrhea, horrible cramps and felt terrible! I have never had a drug cause this side effect so quickly. Would not recommend this to anyone if you want to work and not spend the entire day in the bathroom!

I took this medication for 10 days but I had migraines the entire time. I had to work at home with an ice pack on the top of my head.Strange side effect. The pharmacist told me that was an allergic reaction and that I should stop the medication and call the doctor. I did but they onlly told me they never heard of such a reaction. I felt better 2 days after I stopped the medication.

I was prescribed this for a sinus infection and have been taking it for 8 days now. It doesnt seem to be helping that much. My ears still hurt and my nose is still stuffed up. Also I have been very irritable and sad and havent been sleeping well.Just feel run down. This didnt occur until my third day of being on this medicine. I wouldnt recommend it.

My 11 month old daughter was prescribed to omnicef after amoxicillan did not cure her ear infection. She was given a dose once a day for 2 days and broke out in a very bad rash from head to toe. She has not taken omnicef in 2 days and is still covered with the rash. She is very very clingly and moody which is not normal fir her at all.

Had to stop taking the drug after the third day due to severe allergic reaction with swelling of the face and lips.
