I hope no one takes these reviews seriously. Everyone is going to respond differently to this pill. Just because someone has awful side effects does not mean you will. Take me for instance...the only side effects I have had is 1 day of nausea, some mild moodiness, and slight breast tenderness. I am through my first pack of pills...and you have to understand that the side effects you are having wil...

I have been in Ortho Tricylin Lo for a couple of years with no problems at all. I was just recently given Trinessa lo because the pharmacy said there was no reason i couldnt get the generic. I've been on it for 10 days and i'm nothing but a bloated, tired, grumpy mess. I eat clean and do 30-60 minute intense workouts daily and i couldn't figure out why i looked so bloated and the scale was a few p...

I love TriNessa. I was on tri-previfem for about a year and a half but it was not helping my acne. I switched to TriNessa and I am very happy. I have not had any negative side effects and it has been great at preventing pregnancy (Knock on wood). I recommend giving it a try if other pills have made you feel sick or bloated.

I took TriNessa for about a year. For the first two months I remember feeling pretty nauseous and light-headed. Overall, it made my periods lighter but not really shorter. It's very effective, easy to take, but I've decided to switch because this birth control has 3 hormone levels and for me switching between the 4th week (the sugar pills) and the 1st week (back to the hormones) caused me to feel nauseous every time. I think this birth control has caused me a to feel pretty emotional at times and I'm ready to try something else. Read More Read Less

It gave me very painful leg cramps every night in my sleep, and caused cysts to develop in my breasts. I gained a lot of weight which I am now unable to shake. It did stop my perpetual period though, but I will never take birth control again.

As most have said, the 1st pack made me nausea all month. My sex drive is about zero. I can't stay awake past 10pm. I used to get crazy cramps before and this pill has not helped. I do feel bloated. My skin is clear. Yay for that. Periods come every 4th Wednesday on time. But the moodiness, lack of sex drive, nausea and general blah crazy feeling is no good. Looking for something else. It's the da before my period starts and I feel soooooooo pukey. bleh.

When I was 33 I ended up with portal hypertension and masses on my liver. They had to re-route my portal vein to my liver. The birth control caused the damage.

I had taken this bc for a few months and i have never gotten pregnant. however, the side effects were frightening. I had noticed some hair falling out, nausea, and extreme depression. My mood swings, irrational thoughts, and temper were out of character for me as it was ruining my personal and work relationships. Since stopping this bc, my emotions have stabilized. I would not recommend this birth control for anyone!

I have been on TriNessa for 6 months now and I have decided to stop using it. Let me start with the positive this medicine has cleared up my skin and my hair is no longer falling out! If I could live with the fact that I have gained 12lbs, am bloated ALL the time, and just have a general feeling of discomfort in my stomach all the time I would continue to stay on it. In addition to these wonderful side effects I have had the worse heart burn that I can only associate with the pill. I take my pill at night before bed and wake up in the morning with that horrible burning sensation in my throat. Basically I feel like I am pregnant and with my fat bloated stomach I now look pregnant. NO THANK YOU.Read More Read Less

I have been taking TriNessa for about 9 months. I switched from Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo due to cost. Each month on this medication has become increasingly worse than the one before. I've never had 100% satisfactory results from a BC pill since I started taking them 6 years ago, but this is probably my worst experience yet as far as side effects are concerned. In the past few months I have begun experiencing breakouts of acne, not only on my face, but on my neck, chest, and back. Severe mood swings, anxiety, and depression set in the week leading up to my period and last throughout its duration. My cramps are so severe they radiate in my back and down my legs and wake me up at night. I receive little relief from pain killers, exercise, heating pads, you name it... But it did do it's job in keeping me regular and preventing pregnancy. Fortunately, my new Gyno prescribed Lo Loestrin Fe, which I've read quite a few positive reviews on and am very excited to try. DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL! I was prescribed it 2 days ago. First day I felt nauseous, the second day I was nauseous but got EXTREME headaches! It hurt just as bad if not worse than shingles! My left side of my face was affected...horrible pain in my eye, sinus area, teeth, vein in my neck and temple area. I rolled around in pain and cried hysterically. Worst thing I've ever taken! Please don't even try it!

Took this pill for a year and noticed whenever I started a new pack, I would have abdominal pain, nausea, and frequent bowel movements. This would last for the first 3-4 days. Also gave me mood swings and would feel exhausted!

Since I've started this birth control, nearly a month ago, I have experienced nausea to the point of feeling the need to throw up every day, all day. It gives me a general feeling of disease and has been causing mild depression, anxiety and overall emotional discomfort. I am switching soon once I have explored other options.

Absolutely awful. I had to stop taking Trinessa after 2.5 weeks because it was making me so sick. I would take it at night, and wake up in the morning SO nauseous and dizzy it felt like a terrible hangover. The two final mornings I took it, I fell over because I had no sense of balance, and I started to lose hearing in my right ear. Not only that, but it gave me some very thick discharge that was staining all of my underwear. It was terrible, and I stopped taking it after my doctor told me I must, immediately. I had high hopes, because it was free with my insurance, but I am going to find something else.Read More Read Less

This pill has so far been the worst that I have ever taken. I switched from Ortho Tricyclen Lo to this pill due to cost. Over ten months I have gained twenty pounds! This is with no change in diet. Not to mention it caused severe abdominal pain in addition to nausea and moodiness.

I switched from Ortho Tri Cyclen lo to Trinessa 6 months ago. I was extremely scared to switch because all of the reviews seemed to be negative. the OTC lo helped my mild acne and I really didn't want to have a bad breakout or anything like that. My first month on Trinessa was a huge relief, the first week or two I had a few mood swings but nothing crazy, and a few small pimples but again, nothing crazy. After awhile I actually started feeling more happy and had more of a sex drive (the OTClo really killed it). My facial acne has been great, only a few pimples around my period, however my back is much more acne prone, so I have to wash and treat it more frequently but it's a small drawback and is manageable. I mainly switched because of cost reasons, the OTC was costing me over 100$ a month and I get 3 months of Trinessa for less than 30$, it is wonderful I really wish I had switched 2 years ago. As a Birth Control it works great I havent had any pregnancy scares. I have been on this for about 6 months. I have a period every other week. And my most recent period is now going on 3 weeks. Due to extra cycles I have more breakouts and problems controlling acne. My husband says it makes me crazy. I have an appointment schedule to change birth control I cant handle this anymore.

I am incredibly moody and overly emotional in my regular cycle - TriNessa (in addition to pregnancy prevention) has helped me feel "normal" w/out intense mood swings. It's like magic. Every body is different, and other forms of BC have had the opposite effect on me in terms of emotions / moods. So I'm happy to have found that this works for me in terms of hormone / mood regulation. Also, my periods are much lighter and shorter, with no cramping (used to be VERY intense), and always "on time". One side effect is that I get a yeast infection regularly the week before - I went off for 3 months to test this, and they stopped! Back on, and they've begun again.Read More Read Less

I took a break from birth control for a few years and just recently went back on it to get regulated. I experienced a lot of nausea the first month taking it (which I've never experienced with BC). Also, my skin has been constantly breaking out. Lastly, my mood swings have been out of this world. Upon further research and talking to my doctor, I found that Trinessa is a triphasic pill that has a different hormone each week. I used to take Yasmin (which is monophasic) and my moods were a lot more under control. Apparently, my body operates better on a monophasic pill, so I will be switching back.Read More Read Less

I have been taking this pill for approx 6 months. I was nauseated for the entire first month. After that, no negative side effects AT ALL! Positive side effects - increased sex drive, I can pinpoint period to the day, light to moderate bleeding, and shortened period - approx 3 days.
