I have no idea why there are so many bad reviews on this birth control! I made the mistake when my doctor first put me on this BC pill to read reviews. I was so terrified to begin taking it but my doctor assured me I would be fine. (Previously I was taking Lo Loestra but my insurance no longer covered the cost). I had finally decided to take it, as I was beginning a new relationship and definitely...

I was given Junel because my original BC, Gildes, was recalled. I gained 15 lbs, have headaches, cramps, and I keep thinking that I am pregnant. I only took the pill for 1.5 weeks, but I felt horrible. All I ever wanted to do was crawl into bed, and never leave.

I only lasted 5 days on this birth control. Immediately made me depressed and feel horrible. Around day 3 I had an allergic reaction with swollen gum and my lips were swollen (has happened with other birth control pills) I can handle a reaction that is normally short lived until my body adjusts. This pill just generally made me feel gross. I also had really bad heart palpitations that were scary and they made me feel weak. I’ve been on other birth control pills that caused different side effects. I’ve had an IUD and never stopped bleeding for over 90 days. The vaginal ring caused me to have a cyst that was so painful. I just stopped this pill after day 6 and started the patch. My Obgyn thinks maybe my reaction is caused by filler in birth control pills more so than the hormones themselves. In any regard, after reading not so great reviews I should’ve stayed away. Some people take them and are 100% fine. I’m just a weird case of being allergic to BC pills in general plus the added depressed feeling. Everyone is different so this may not be your experience. Read More Read Less

Got on this birth control initially as a teenager to aid with acne. Initially I did have some weight gain, but it really did help my skin. I am now a young adult looking to see what my life is like w/o birth control. Here are my symptoms being on it for 8 years - weight gain, only small and it was hard to tell if it was fluid related or increase in appetite - anxiety/depression increase. I would get so anxious about things that don’t really matter? Like no one is mad or angry or upset just chill haha - no libido. Sex life? Forget about it. - spotting. I feel like no matter if I took the period pill week or not, spotting would randomly occur - yeast infections. Never ever had to worry about yeast infections ever until bc Read More Read Less

Junel was pretty good for me, nothing horrible. It made my premenstrual dysphoria worse, however, that is something I was able to push through. No significant weight gain or loss. However, It lowered my sex drive a lot and gave me some mild acne, which is unusual for me because I am lucky and have never had an acne issue, even in my teenage years. I got mine from an online provider called Wisp, which was a 3-month supply for 15 dollars so it wasn't extremely expensive for me. I've been taking it for a year and a half, and I am stopping it due to ovarian pain and decreased libido, which may or may not be caused by the Junel. Birth control is really scary due to all the bad ways it can mess with your body and mind, but don't psyche yourself out about it if you are about to start Junel, everyone's body is different. Junel FE has been working amazing for me! I originally got on this pill to make my period lighter and manage my cramps during my menstrual cycle as well as sharp pain during ovulation and this pill has made my period shorter, I have zero pain and I have no side effects with this medication!! I was so scared to start taking his medication, but I’m glad I did :)

This is a nightmare. I recently started these pills a month ago. The first pack I went through was fine. No bleeding at all. As soon as I took the first pill of the second pack of these and have been bleeding ever since. I do have uterine fibroids. It’s really stressful

This birth control was easy to use. And initially it didn't give me any significant side effects. It did prevent pregnancy effective. however, after taking it for a year. I noticed my blood pressure and anxiety steadily get worse and worse. I have never had high blood pressure, in fact if anything my blood pressure would sometimes be a little low. Just came back from my yearly women check up and my blood pressure was the only thing that worried her. I will no longer be taking it for that reason. Read More Read Less

I started bc to regulate my hormones and reduce cramping during menstrual cycle. This rx has made me significantly calmer while simultaneously relieving immense pain and discomfort during my cycles. No, the placebo week I never seem to start my period however when I do start my cycle I just start taking the iron pills and 4/5 days later go back to the hormones. I feel incredibly better since being put on this rx

I have really heavy and painful periods that last forever so my doctor recommended this brand of birth control to help regulate. I've been taking it for four months and it has helped regulate a little but I'm still bleeding to where I feel there is barely any difference. I take my pill at night so I don't feel nausea or anything but I do feel as though I've been more on edge and gotten mad more often than before taking this... I'm gonna see if I can find smth more effective for me.

Started Junel Fe after taking Vienva for 4 years straight. Switched because i was getting extreme nausea. Ha! I thought i had nausea before? Junel fe has had me in a hungover state since taking. Whether it’s a normal day and i take the pill or it’s a period week and i don’t, i feel hungover, exhausted, and extremely dizzy. Ive been on it for 1 month and im going right back to my old BC. My sex drive is basically nothing. Ive gotten a painful itch down there. I have migraines that last for days. I can barely stand up half the time because im cramping so bad (period week or not). I havent had acne in 4 years. Now my forehead is covered. I cant sleep, every single night i have terrors despite never having them before and no im not stressed out. I have extreme anxiety attacks to the point where i have to leave work. Ive never ever had these problems.Im at my absolute unhappiest. Never againRead More Read Less

I checked this site before starting in Feb of this year and knew to expect some side effects. Everyone's anatomy is different so I took the positive and negative reviews with a grain of salt. I have PCOS but I've never had issues with weight, however I have heavy, unpredictable, painful periods. Junel has significantly reduced these and mellowed me out initially and I haven't had a migraine. But I've had pretty wild mood swings close to my period, night sweats like nobody's business causing me to only get 4-5 hours of sleep (increasing anxiety) and outside of that i'm tired like all the time. I wish I had the increase in boobs problem lol. I've not gained any weight, I think I lost like 5 pounds. If I didn't have the night sweats I'd be down to continue it, but I just can't do it. Junel Fe is the worst birth control I’ve ever used. I had panic attacks several times a day and developed agoraphobia. I still get bouts of intense anxiety but they are far fewer since stopping it. But I still have panic attacks at any bodily discomfort so thank you Junel. I spent everyday switching between crying and having a panic attack. It was awful. I’m genuinely traumatized from it. I’ve never had a poor reaction to birth control before. Junel was the exception to this. Everyone’s body chemistry is different and so you may have a different reaction, but I can’t recommend this one. Read More Read Less

I've been taking this for about 2 months and I've had a lot of mood swings, bad acne, borderline depression, and weight gain, and lower sex drive. This is the first birth control I've tried, and I'm really not enjoying it.

I’ve been on this birth control for over 6 months and I never got a period over that time course except for one or two days but it was rare. It helped with the ovarian cycle I had and I would recommend, only concern I had was not getting my period but overall I liked it while I was on it.

I took Junel Fe for just under 2 years and finally decided to just get off of birth control for awhile to troubleshoot some body function issues I was having. Since getting off this pill I no longer have borderline IBS related issues, vertigo, extremely low libido or spotting. It's hard to decipher if it's 100% correlated but I changed no other aspects of my daily routine before and after. My borderline IBS was debilitating to the point where I couldn't even go on long walks without having an emergency situation. I would also spot every 2 weeks. Absolutely no regrets getting off this medication.Read More Read Less

I started taking junel and noticed i gained maybe 5 pounds at most and was irritable, but after a couple weeks my body regulated it and since then it’s worked a charm, my periods aren’t as heavy, my acne is way better then it was before, and my hair stopped falling out as much from stress! The only time i have light breakthrough bleeding is when i don’t take it on time.

I have been taking Junel FE for multiple years now. My dosage has changed over the years, but overall my body has adjusted just fine. My periods were previously so intense and gave me debilitating pain to the point I couldn’t attend school and/or work. With this daily medication, my pain (I have endometriosis) has drastically reduced, my periods are more under control (my doctor even prescribed for me to skip the placebo pill), and from my experience it has been great at preventing pregnancy. Overall I have not experienced any side effects that would make me discontinue this pill. I had minor weight gain in the beginning, but also my habits changed as well. My mood and behaviors were not impacted by this pill, but my overall value of life has increased. Having my period be under control has really impacted my ability to live a happy life.
