Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

I was very irritable when first starting it and I could feel the medication fading away and myself becoming more anxious. It has gotten better since but still not as good as when I was on celexa. My side effects are severe dry mouth and my ears ring all of the time, drives me crazy but are obviously not the worst side effects you can have. I was placed on this because the weight gain I had while on celexa made me feel unhappy and unhealthy. I have been on300mg for about 2 months. Not overly pleased but it has gotten better with time and I figured I would give myself about one more month before i talk to the dr about another change.Read More Read Less

I started this drug and have had no adverse side effects. I am able to focus and not drown in constant rampant thoughts flooding my brain. I am able to focus and get everything I need to accomplish accomplished.

i took lexapro and zoloft before, and they both caused crazy weight gain, increased appetite, and caused my personality to become very flat. Wellbutrin does the trick and helps majorly with my depression, without the flat-personality shift and weight gain. However, if I take the pill before I ear breakfast, I feel very nauseous throughout the day

Wellbutrin has helped so much with my depression. I haven't experienced any major side effects, but I have noticed that it causes a little irritability. Overall the drug has worked great and I am on a relatively low dosage (150mg).

Took this drug years ago when going thru a divorce, it helped me get myself back up and feeling better. I had to go off of it a yr later due to insurance changes at work co pay was at $30 went to $150 could not ever take the generic, there is a huge difference. now here it is 2014 and I have just spent the last year dealing with the after effects of a hysterectomy which put me into menopause, I could not take any hormones due to family breast cancer history. This medication has helped me to be more upbeat and positive, it has given me my energy back, and it decreases my food and sugar cravings. The only things I do not like about it is the cost my insurance requires me to pay the difference from generic. and the hot flashes do seem a little worse. There is a coupon avail online reduces the cost by $50Read More Read Less

After taking Prozac for 10 years I thought I may need to switch and needless to say I was back on Prozac in 3 weeks. I had terrible mood swings, I was beyond emotional, crying over absolutely nothing and my anxiety rose to a level it's never been before

My doctor prescribed me this medication in addition to the Zoloft I am taking. It really helps boost energy levels but can also make you feel a little shaky. I've only been on it for about 4 weeks now but it has really helped get rid of the smothering apathy and feeling like nothing matters. Just be careful how much caffeine you drink on this drug because it really increases the jitters.

I was on this medication for less than ten days. I was on Celexa and it stopped working, so my doctor prescribed this. After two days, I began having violent mood swings accompanied by violent and homicidal thoughts. Besides that, it also gave me erectile and ejaculatory problems. Everything cleared up when I went on a different med.

Was prescribed 150mg in psych ward, then was uped to 300mg. I'm now out of hospital. Today is day 2 on 300mg. The first day I felt "weird" and had a bad headache. Since I am bipolar (manic and depression) I can't tell if the extra energy I'm feeling is due to med. I'm still smoking like a chimney (hopefully the quitting smoking effect will come later). But I do not feel depressed. Some of the comments about bad and real bad side effects scare me. But since my bipolar has gone to the level of causing a psychotic episode I'll give it a whirl. Thank you to all who commented they are helpful in understand this med and remind me I'm not alone with this disorder. Read More Read Less

I am a 47 year old male diagnosed with ADHD combined with bouts of major depression. Over the years I have tried every tricyclic, SSRI, SNRI and atypical antidepressant on the market. While I was taking Ritalin or Dexedrine I never experienced the dpression but I decided that I wanted to go medication-free for my ADHD. I question the wisdom of that decision but anyhow my doctor suggested we try Wellbutrin and I agreed. I started by taking 150mg first thing in the morning and then 300mg every morning since then. It's been about 5 months now and I can't believe the change in how I feel! Wellbutrin lifted me out of the depression right away (ie within 2 days) and it helps with the ADHD symptoms as well. Not to the same extent as the stimulants but it's enough that I can focus now and get tasks completed. I am so thankful for whoever invented bupropion. One think I noticed is that it is closely related to amphetamine and diethylpropion, both used in the past as anti-depressants/anorectics. I believe it is this similarity that gives Wellbutrin the edge over the SSRI's (which are garbage in my opinion)currently in use and I would not hesitate to recommend Wellbutrin, Wellbutrin SR or XL to anyone who is suffering the debilitating symptoms of depression! Two thumbs up for Wellbutrin!Read More Read Less

I use this with success for anxiety disorder/panic attacks. Other depression meds like were a little more effective, but had sexual side effects. Mainly, unable to attain climax. Wellbutrin seems to have no sexual side effects at all, and does a reasonable job of helping me control the panic attacks once it builds up in my system

As someone who had most of the side effects but, felt better mentally... So much better in fact I didn't care about the side effects. The pros outweighed the cons - a lot!

Absolutely love wellbutrin. I am 18, and I suffer from anxiety and depression. I started on 150 mg, and then a couple weeks later was upped to 300 mg. I have been on wellbutrin for about 2 months, and have not had a single depressive episode. I was really hoping this would help with my anxiety but it hasn't. Luckily it hasn't made it worse either. Very very happy on/with this drug and it also helps with my ADD!

As an antidepressant, it worked wonders within the first week, as the dose was being titrated up. I had energy and experienced needed weight loss and was very pleased, as I did not do well on SSRI or SNRIs. Unfortunately, I was not aware that I had a low seizure threshold and by the second week, I had a 15 minute duration grand mal seizure and resulting head trauma. Therefore, the medication had to be discontinued. For individuals NOT prone to seizures, I think this drug could be very useful, but I do think extreme caution should be taken when prescribing to anyone, even is there is no known history of seizure, and it is imperative that front office staff be educated on signs of impending seizure. I called the doctor's office to report very uncomfortable side effects that seemed to come on rather quickly (tremor, severe ringing in the ears started overnight during second week of therapy and increased dose) and was told by the receptionist that they couldn't see me that day and "might be able to work me in the next day", and to not stop the medication until I spoke to the doctor. After I hung up the phone, I immediately had my seizure. I don't know if the agitation of their lack of care brought it on, or if it would have happened at that moment anyway, but I learned to be more insistent with medical staff members after this experience. So, overall, a wonderful alternative to SSRI and SNRI meds, but not enough education is provided to the staff at many medical offices and a 'warning sign checklist' needs to be in the patient file whenever this medication is prescribed.Read More Read Less
