Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

I used this for two weeks to stop smoking, the good news - it worked. The bad news - it was the most horrible two weeks of my life. Will never take another antidepressant of any sort.

I've been on generic bupropion for a while, it effectively takes the edge off my depression and anxiety and levels out my mood swings a bit, but despite being on the highest dose the mental illness was still interfering with my life, now I'm also taking lorazepam and dexedrine in addition to bupropion and the combination is satisfactory in terms of it's effectiveness. I do really like wellbutrin, moreso than SSRIs or SNRIs because it doesn't have quite as bad interactions with illicit drugs (If you're gonna do it at least be kinda smart about it) but mostly because it didn't have as many side effects for me, all I noticed was increased sweating for the first month which has gone away, and my appetite is poor and I lost some weight after I started it, but thats about it. Oh and it makes cigarettes taste like acetone, very effective in reducing smoking. Read More Read Less

I was in one of the worst depressive episodes of my life when I started taking Wellbutrin and it has vastly improved my base-line. I still feel the full range of human emotions but I can now keep them in check, and they don't control or destroy my life.

I vas switched from Viibryd to Wellbutrin in one day. Viibryd became so expensive $205 a month. No Insurance! Wellbutrin is $30. I went thru the worst withdrawal for 3 days. How important is a Dr. Of Phyciatry when dealing with these Meds?

This medication worked for my depression but it cause me to have seizures so I had to stop. This was not discovered right away. I wish the warning label was more specific as no doctor, ERs or Neurologist figured it out. I saw a new doctor who put it together. I have been seizure free for 2 years and it was determined it was the generic of Wellbutrin that caused it. Otherwise it worked great...expect it almost killed me because of the seizures.

Took 150mgXL for about three weeks then went to 300mgXL, have been on it for about a week and to me it really feels like a very low dose of a stimulant like ritalin or something similar. Makes me feel numb and just baseline all day. No ups or downs really. I don't like it so far.

Wellbutrin XL worked so well for my severe depression. This medication saved my life and helped me get graduate college. I started feeling better within a week without even trying on 150mg but increased the dose with my doctor to 300mg, which worked the best for me personally. For example, it allowed I was able to stop thinking negatively, could concentrate again, stopped crying all the time, and stabilized my mood at a functional baseline so I could get what I needed out of therapy. All my friends and family told me I was acting more like myself and had my zest for life back. I'm so grateful- before taking it, I did not have enough energy to walk a mile. I had lethargic depression and after taking this medication, I stopped sleeping 14hrs/day, was able to run 3miles like I used to, stopped binge eating, and lost 10lbs after about 5 months on the medication. Once I started getting better (I do not take this medication anymore as my depression resolved after a 9-month combination of Wellbutrin and psychotherapy), I started feeling restless and got agitated, which are side effects and decided with my doctor that I was stable and had enough support in place to stop taking Wellbutrin. I slowly decreased my dose over a month when I did not have a lot of stressful events in my life and consider myself a success story as I rarely have symptoms anymore of MDD. This medication was wonderful and I'm so thankful that it was available when I needed it during the darkest point of my life.Read More Read Less

After taking Zoloft for 6 years, it stopped working for me. The doctor tried me on two other drugs I don't remember the names of. They both made me very anxious and agitated. He decided to try me on the Wellbutrin. I started out taking 150 mgs. twice a day. I never had one side effect from it and could tell a difference in my mood right away. I also got back my sex drive that the Zoloft had totally taken away.

I have been taking Wellbutrin XL for 3 months. I was recently upgraded to 300 mg from 150. I have no appetite and I am more depressed. I have racing thoughts and I feel foggy. I think I will stop taking it and try something new. Not happy with this medicine at all.

It has worked pretty well to improve my mood, I'm better able to be happy after taking this. However, those effects have seemed to diminish over time.

I take this medication for bipolar disorder. It works pretty well with the only annoyance is dry mouth and nausea. I take it right before I go to sleep and I wake up without the anxiety I would normally have if I took it right before I went asleep.

I've been on this drug for over a month and the doctor just increased it to 300mg. I'm not as anxious as I was before but I still have anxiety. I have noticed that I have no problem telling people how I feel as much. My paranoia is not as bad but it's still there. I'll give the higher dose a little time to kick in to see what happens.

I relied on these reviews when I first started meds, so wanted to share my experience. I have been on Wellbutrin XL 300mg for about 2.5 years with extremely positive results. This is the first antidepressant I have ever taken, and I have been much better on it. No more falling through emotional thin ice 20+ times a day, no more crying, and hardly any negative thinking. Started on 150xl for about 1.5-2 months then up to 300XL. In the first months experienced almost no side effects save for a few strange new headaches a couple days, but they quickly went away. Only side effect is constipation, which can mostly be mitigated with fiber and good eating. I take it in the morning and it has not affected my sleep, though I find I do sleep better and am more refreshed when I occasionally take valerian or even a melatonin/benadryl. Last year I felt while I was doing well, but still needed a little umpf to push ahead. Tried the 450mg xl and it was fine for a few days/ a week but proved to be too strong; I felt angry, emotional rollercoaster started again, and couldn’t' focus or concentrate. Back down to 300 and all is well. Cost for brand name is outrageous. From my research decided to stay away from generics, and found a reliable pharmacy to order from for a fraction of the local pharmacy cost. Exercise is still a must for me to feel O.K. Not more than 2 days without of I fall back into a slump. Gym used to make me go from a -6 to maybe a 1-3. Now I go from feeling a 3 to a 9/10 after the gym. Read More Read Less
