Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

I have tried many different drugs to treat my depression, which has persisted for over 4 years. Wellbutrin has been the only drug that I have been completely satisfied with. My mood is incredibly, very noticeably happier and more pleasent. Ask your doctor about Wellbutrin!

Doctor gave me this medication for depression but it made my anxiety so bad that I became non-functional and scared to leave my apartment. Felt like I was going to die.

I began this drug in March 2008 after trying Tofranil and it worked wonders. A few side effects for me, my dose was 450mg/day and I developed tremors in my hands. The Tofranil caused me to have nightmares every single night. I slept well, and got back to feeling good again with Wellbutrin. It is said to double as an ADHD medication, but unfortunately that wasn't the case for me. I had to take a second stimulant in order to gain control over both my depression and my ADHD.

This medication is the first and only anti-depressant I've taken that does not make me feel like a zombie, that allows me to feel sad (not depressed) so that I know I am still experiencing life as it should be with the ups and downs. My depression and anxiety symptoms decreased dramatically if not completely. I took this medication when I was younger (19-20) and unlike some other anti-depressants, I experienced no suicidal thoughts or extreme mood swings.

I am 20 years old and have been on 150 Wellbutrin for 5 weeks. It doesn't make me sick like other drugs which is great but I have experienced head aches everyday with great eye pain and pressure. I have migraines but this is unlike anything I have experienced. It has got my crying under better control (now only a few times a day and I am able to stop after at least several minutes). However, I feel like a zombie. My mind is mostly blank. I either feel bad or nothing. I am irritable, my family tells me I am constantly crabby. I find it hard to chit-chat (I am usually a very talkative person) or carry on any conversation. I prefer to be alone more than ever. I don't feel like this is the drug for me. Read More Read Less

Started taking this medication at 150mg q day. At this dosage felt absolutely no change in mood and no side effects. After 1 week bumped up to 300mg q day. Medication did not improve my mood but it did give me severe anxiety and insomnia. Anxiety was horrendous... had me convinced that I was going to die at any second if I left my house. Absolutely miserable!

I started smoking at a young age and my grandmother wanted to help me quit. So my Dr. prescribed Wellbutrin. I was miserable, and thought about some crazy things. It also made me more depressed. It does curve your urge to smoke but it's not worth the emotional rollercoster between the urges of not smoking and the medicines side effects. It will make you give up and start smoking again. Not recomended for teens at all!!!!

This medication caused me to want to bite off everyone's head. My doctor asked me how I felt and when I told him I felt like smacking him...he immediately said "you won't be taking this anymore.

I am taking Wellbrutin XL 150 mg daily to combat daytime drowsiness and help with weight loss. The first two days on 150mg I felt hyper and could feel my heart beating. That subsided and I did not feel anything until 2 weeks into therapy. I now feel slightly more agitated, anxious at times, waking up 1-2 times per night. I don't feel like myself, can't describe how I feel, maybe apathetic. I have noticed a decrease in appetite which is very helpful. I am going to give it more time before determining that it is not going to be beneficial.Read More Read Less

I have been taking Wellbutrin XL 300mg (generic) for about 2 months along with 150 mg Effexor XR. So far it has helped me a lot. I have been Effexor XR for 10 months and even with dosage increases my depression kept coming back. Rather than increase the Effexor my doctor decided to add the Wellbutrin. I also saw a Clinical nurse on the recomendation of my therapist. She said she wasn't that familiar with this combination but if it was working she said not to change. She said she would have probably increased the Effexor to a higher level. She said most doctors get nervous with that and usually add another medication. Right now I am feeling better and will only call my therapist or clinical nurse if the depression comes back.Read More Read Less

I was diagnosed with depression when I was 18 years old. (I am now 29) I have been on many diffrent meds. This one was to top off my effexor b/c that caused weight gain. I love this med no side effects that I notice, but the again I have had insomnia as long as I can remember. I am currently on 150 mg in am and 150 mg in pm.

4 family members on this med for years with SSRT'S. Effects: Reduces sleepy symptoms from SSRI,increases: energy, aggressiveness, low tolerance for frustration, irritability, assertive, insensitivity.Generic more so. Had to stop taking generic because of social aggression.Still impatient after 2 months off the drug.Helped stop smoking after 50 years. Folks argumentative in the family but better than withdrawn and depressive. Just watch the personality changes and weigh if you can tolerate those effects as above. It will give you energy...that's nice. Very expensive, good libido, verbal acuity increased (too much sometimes)Dose up to 300mg XR for 4 of us.Tried reducing before I stopped taking it but the generic 150 was still causing aggression..too much conflict in the family on this drug.Read More Read Less

I have tried Lexapro several times (I weaned myself off a couple of times because I don't like to take medication). It left me with no sexual desire whatever. It was somewhat effective in relieving my depression. Then I tried Cymbalta. That only made my heart race, and because I am active person normall, I could do nothing while on that. Then I tried Wellbutrin, at first 150, then 300, now 450. It seems to be working for me. I am convinced that there is no perfect anti-depressive, but I do feel better. Recently, my doctor started me on Xanax, but I only take it as needed, and I am lots better. Maybe it is the combination of the two drugs, but I have a life now. Before I could do almost nothing, and my future looked bleak to me. Read More Read Less
