Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

This is the first time I have rated any product. I have been on Elavil for many years and it has helped. After the death of a person very important in my life, I became very depressed even on the Elavil. My Dr. put me on Wellbutrin along with the Elavil. I can not believe the change in my life. My personality has changed and I am able to deal with every day things so much better than any time in my life. I have, or had, a very nasty temper and I am very sick over the times I lost my temper and caused much hurt to others. I did things, in this uncontrolable temper, that I will never forgive my self for. I have been able to deal with getting mad and upset like a real person. I was so afraid that when I did have a situation I would lose it again. That has not happened at ALL on this. It is hard to understand unless you have this kind of personialty. I can never thank enough who ever developed this medication. I do not have the right words to express this. Thank youRead More Read Less

started taking for depression and anxiety, after about 1-2 weeks thought I wanted to die because the anxiety was so much worse, depression was out of this world, never thought of suicide, but thought it might not be a bad thing to die the way I was feeling. Couldn't sleep well at all, but wanted to sleep to stop the panic attacks and anxiety. AWFUL! Not for me!!

I tried Wellbutrin for about 10 days and I was getting more tired and hopeless each day . After about a week I could barely get out of bed and started thinking suicide would not be such a bad thing and even on my worst days without med suicide never crossed my mind . I stopped taking it and I felt better now I am on Celexa wich is working good with no side eff

I only took Wellbutrin for 4 days, and almost immediately I noticed my depression returning, quite severely, and went nearly directly into being suicidal. I was threatened with having the police called on me by my therapist and was being pushed into going inpatient in a hospital. About a week and a half after stopping the medication...I'm just about back to completely normal. I didn't even take this for depression or anything...it was to quit smoking.

I started taking Wellbutrin for depression & anxiety. After a few months I noticed I was getting dissy and started twitching alot. Then for no apparent reason I fainted, came out of the faint & had a full blown seizure. Other than that it was working great... :)

THE GENERIC BRND OF WELLBUTRIN XL CAC CAUSE SEIZURES--- read this! I started treating my disorder with prozac which threw me completely off balance and gave me severe moodswings. I moved on to Effexor which was effective for a bit over a year but then lost effect. My doctor then changed me to Wellbutrin XL which has been great. While I had no side-effects onthe original brand, I decided to try the generic brand. I gained a lot of weight ad fell a bit into a slump- a doctor I consulted told me the generic brand had a shorter half-life than the original; making it less effective. MOREOVER- WHILE ON THE GENERIC BRAND (2 months) I HAD AN EPISODE OF SEVERE SEIZURES!! My neurologist told me to avoid the generic Wellbutrin as it put you at greater risk and that he had two other patients with the same situation.Read More Read Less

Wellbutrin was the best medication for my depression. I couldn't believe how good I felt. Unfortunately, I was allergic to it and it gave me a rash from head to toe. I now know what it feels like to have all my symptoms of depression lifted, but have yet to find as good of a match as Wellbutrin for my body chemistry.

Welbutrin helped me quit smoking with ease. It lifted my depression, gave me energy, and decreased my appetite.

I had taken this medication a few years ago. It helped me at first. I then started to realize that it was making me really anxious and jittery. My heart sometimes felt like it was going to beat out of my chest and I always felt like I was going to die. For example, I went to school in a not so good neighborhood and while I was on this medication I developed the fear that I was going to get caught in a drive by shooting. I never had a fear like that before or after I was on the medication.

I have a stew of depression (on Prozac for this), anxiety, and ADHD, with high blood pressure. I was put on 300 mg Wellbutrin for ADHD as the safest option. I have been amazed at how Wellbutrin has cleared the brainfog or brain static I have felt seemingly all my life. My focus and concentration is much better now. I still have some disorganization and forgetfulness but I am able to focus enough to use some tools to help with this. I am not sure if I need to go up in dosage or not....but overall I am happy! I have been taking Wellbutrin 300mg for 4-5 years now. I am wondering if anyone taking the medication this long has felt like their body has adjusted to the medication and stopped working as well as it once did. I told my doctor, who changed my meds to Prozac which I felt didn't help at all. So she switched me back but I still don't feel as if it is working like it once did....maybe 450mg would help. Any suggestions?

I have being on Wellbutrin XL 300 ml. for about 5 weeks or so now. Really not sure if it is working yet. I have lost my appetite and I seem to have inflammation of the esophagus. Which is a mild pain, but never the less still pain. I am dreaming much more and the other night woke up with such a start. Thought a young child was at my beside and I even reached out to touch this child thinking it was my son when he was young. Wow, how scary is that. I think I better tell the doctor, but I know what she will say...just stay on it for a little bit longer and see if all side effects clear up. I am not sure what to do. I really do not know if it is helping my depression and mean behavior to others.Read More Read Less

I was diagonosed with postpartum depression last year as well as post tramatic depression (family loss) and was on Zoloft for a year. It seeed to be ok at first but it weakened. I decided to ask dr for Wellbutrin for many reasons: depression, quit smoking, curb alcohol cravings. It seems that it worked, but once my dossage was upt to 300mg WOW! Now that works for me. I got my energy back, dont think tooo much about cigs, and i dont feel depressed! Overall, it is great.....except i wish i could stay asleep longer than 5 hours a nite!!Read More Read Less

I found only the brand name wellbutrin sr 100mg to be helpful. I took this identical med called zyban which did help me stop smoking(smoker 15 years-1 pack a day). I do not find generic is the same at all in positive effects. Very unfortunate. Generic seems to make me feel quite anxious and does not lift depression much if at all. Also the brand name did not give sexual side effects, unlike others I have tried such as prozac and other ssri meds which severely lower sex drive.
