Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

I did really well on Prozac ( for years) and then my insurance company demanded I go to generic, which had terrible side effects. Now I'm on Wellbutin and I have periods of anxiety (which I never had before) I feel irritable and angry. Additionally I feel like I have to yawn all the time but can't complete the yawn. Also feel like I'm always trying to clear my throat. Has any one else experienced this?

Well, I've only been on the meds for a little over 2 weeks, but I have noticed a definite improvement! I don't cry at everything anymore- in fact, hardly at anything, I'm not as socially aggressive when I get angry, and it takes considerably more to make me angry. I am still irritable, and that's something I wish would get better, but I'm glad not to be so miserable and "blah" everyday... I figure, at least I'm not an emotional wreck and I can at least tolerate some of the things that were making me feel terrible before. Also, I have definitely experienced decrease in appetite... I don't eat much during the day, but sometimes at night I'll wake up and find myself going to the fridge to make myself a sandwich because I'm so hungry from not eating all day! Also, I find it more difficult to fall asleep, and normally I go to bed pretty early and have no issues, so it's weird for me. Other than the appetite and insomnia this med seems ok. I might consider doubling up to see if it will help my irritability, but I will give it another week.Read More Read Less

I was prescribed this medication and it did absolutely nothing for me. I didn't like the effects it gave. It made me vary from extremely irritable and Hyper to Exhausted and feeling happy. While the happiness was a good change, I didn't like the tired-feeling that came along.

This is the first anti-depressant drug I have taken so I don't have anything to compare it to but I do notice when I forget to take it that my mood is horrible. It works, but I still get irritated fast.

Started using Wellbutrin XL after my divorce, it was absolutley a lifesaver, and I stopped smoking after 20 yrs. However, my insurance is now only paying for the generic which does not work the same.

I was a smoker for 30 plus years. If I had known this drug would work as it did for me, I would have taken it long ago! Have been smoke free for 9 years, with no regrets and no desires to return!!

Was on Wellbutrin several years ago - asked to be switched from Lexapro to Wellbutrin, pharmacist gave me the generic (Budeprion XL) and I am having major side effects.. tightning of the chest, rash etc.. never had this problem with Wellbutrin - Lexapro caused a 20 lb weight gain.

Due to a traumatic experience in my life, I became very depressed. Ever since taking this drug...300 mg/day, I feel much better but I get irritated easily now, but at least I am not crying everyday. Also I am not as spaced out before taking these pills. Just do not take it after 2-3:00 pm because you will be up all night, unless you have a test to study for its great...(I am also a student).Being depressed made me see things in a different light... which makes me feel better about me getting better.Read More Read Less

Started taking Wellbutrin XL over a year ago and have had no change in mood and increased anxiety! This has been reported to my doctor who added Prozac and Seroquel to the combination. I maxed out on Wellbutrin at 450 mg and Prozac at 40 mg. My anxiety and panic attacks have grown out of control and haven't been able to convince the doc to put me on something else. Start new doc on Monday. I HATE Wellbutrin!! I have been on Zoloft and Lexapro as well.

I have taken other antideppresants before and they have caused weight gain but I have actually lost weight on Wellbutrin. I am currently on the 300mg and it has helped with my mood and feelings of depression. However, I still have problems sleeping at night which my Dr. said would go away eventually. I have been taking this medicine for 2 months now. It did take about 3 weeks before i could notice a diffrence in how i felt. I would recommend this drug for people who are concered about weight gain w/ antidepressants as i was.Read More Read Less

I was on lexapro and depakote, and still had some depression issues. But I started taking wellbutrin, and felt sooooo much better. But I started getting wicked hangovers when I had never gotten them before. I tried go off lexapro, but I still had some weird moods that I didn't have when I was on all three.

It took about 3 weeks for it to kick in for me. And i noticed right away not to take it at night it kept me up most of the night. The more consistant i took it the more energy i felt during the day. It changed my appetite to eating more thru out the day, but i was loosing weight. I felt good while taking it. I was on it 6 months. Now I am doing good. It just got me on track.

Diagnosed with bipolar during manic episode over 30 yrs. ago, preceded and followed by a number of depressive episodes. I have been on WellbutrinXL (generic since it became available) and Depakote (ditto) for 12 yrs. Best years of my life by far. Wellbutrin with marginal dose of Depakote keeps me out of any significant depression, while allowing me the very slight hypomania that enhances creativity, productivity, and sociability (like a safe "6" or "6.5" on a 0-10 scale, zero being suicide). Sounds like it's not for everyone, but for me personally now, at age 50, seems like I'll gladly take it to my deathbed!Read More Read Less

found out if you have seizures DO NOT take this drug will cause ABNORMAL Brain Function with an EEG.. IF this is the case why would anyone want to put this drug in their body which might effect their brain function as well as Kidneys and Liver.. Curious what the top 20 Drugs the FDA recalled and never listed in the newspapers. All drugs if labeled may cause dizzyness, don't operate heavy machinery etc should not even take the drug.. Try holistic methods such as Tai Chi , Meditation, Omega-3 capsules vegetarian ones.. Drugs will killRead More Read Less

I take this medication in combination with Effexor. Although it took time to get the right doasge, it has really helped my depression. On the downsside, I have gained 20+ pounds during the course on these two meds. It is really frustrating...although when I reduced my dose, I lost 10 of those 20. I feel like I am stuck taking this stuff forever..and I don't look forward to that.
