Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

I started taking the medication when I was at rock bottom. And what a difference! Almost right away I noticed a change. You are able to function normally on this drug and there are virtually no adverse side effects. I recommend this medication to anyone who is in deep despair.

I've been taking Wellbutrin XL 300 mg for about 5 years. It was very effective but doesn't seem to be working as well as it did the first few years. The generic is not the same, I hit bottom when I started taking it. I pay the higher price for the name brand. If you researched this you will find a lot of people have problems with the generic for wellbutrin.

Wellbutrin XL is the seventh antidepressant prescribed for me by my PCP. All previous medications were either ineffective, or caused intolerable side effects. Wellbutrin, for me, is a miracle drug, allowing me to function like a normal person. At one time I was unable to afford it, and had to wean myself off of it. By three months without it, I was in a full blown depressed state, wanting to sleep all the time, crying, and thinking irrationally. Now back on Wellbutrin XL I can once again enjoy my life, and I feel human again.Read More Read Less

GREAT drug! Helped with panic attacks, depression and anxiety dramatically. I do NOT like Wellbutrin XL. The XL induced panic attacks that were staggering!

I noticed increased energy immediately and my depression has completely gone away. I quit smoking as well as lost nine pounds. I went from the verge of dropping out of school to finishing the semester with A's and B's. ALL GOOD!!!!! One side effect was an initial loss of sleep-which faded. I also have a high resting heart rate because of the epinephrine in this med. I think this could be harmful long-term.

I was prescribed Wellbutrin XL when Cymbalta made me constipated and caused a total loss of sexual desire. While my sexual desire did return after taking this drug, I became SO irritable!! I had horrible temper flare-ups, and my mood was constantly on a roller coaster. Crying one minute, screaming the next. Absolutely not worth the horrible side effects that come with it.

I have mild-moderate adult ADD. Initially I was prescribed this 150mg twice daily by my PCP and noticed a remarkable difference in my ability to focus and concentrate, and it improved my mood. Unfortunately the dosage was too high to start out with and I had very uncomfortable heart palpitations and was dropped back to 100mg twice daily. That continued to help my mood and memory a great deal but I didn't have the benefit of the focus and concentration. Now I'm seeing a psychiatrist and still taking 75mg daily of this plus some Ritalin, which is helping me to concentrate better and not get as distracted. Read More Read Less

Wellbutrin SR 150 (2x daily) has helped my depression better than Prozac, Zoloft or Paxil. It also curbs my appetite. At first it made it difficult to get to sleep, but .50 mg of Trazadone is enough to help me get to sleep, and makes it easy to get 7-8 hours of sleep. Wellbutrin does not affect my dreams like Prozac did. With Wellbutrin I do not have the sexual side effects associated with other anti-depressants.

This med worked for me after many attempts of other drugs throught the years. It took about 3 months for me to be completely satisfied. It also curbed my appetite and I've been able to lose 25 lbs. Nice. It also helps with concentration. I haven't felt this good in over a decade. Everyone is different, so if you're trying this and don't feel the results you want and it's been less than 3 months. Give it a chance. An added bonus: No sexual numbness.

I have tried many of the medications such as prozac, celebrex, and most of the others...but I prefer Wellbutrin...it does not have the sexual side effects of not reach an orgasm and no feeling...I find it a great drug and keeps me at a steady mood.

Into my 3rd week on the generic Wellbutrin XL/300mg., 1 x per day in the A.M. First week thought it was a miracle drug, my gloomy mood gone/energy level soared! Great appetite suppressant!! Also staying up late is no problem, before the drug I was going to bed earlier and earlier (9:00-9:30), now staying up past midnight is the norm.....BUT started having a horrible time falling to sleep. Within the second week, I started on Lunesta...well my doc must have anticipated this possible side effect and had prescribed Lunesta in conjuction with the Wellbutrin..just in case....umm...now I can't seen to not take the sleeping pill..when I have tried to go without, it's pure misery..wierd dreams, nightmares, oh so tired..until I take my mornng dosage of Wellbutrin..and then the cycle starts all over again...take the Lunesta, don't take the Lunesta..longest I've gone is 2-3 days and then I just can't take the lack of sleep! My doc said I should only take the Lunesta when I really feel I need it..hello!! I need it every night...the withdrawal effect is unbearable...2 to 3 days is the longest I've gone in not taking...also extreme inner ringing in my ears..sounds like I'm in a house full of crickets!! Maybe the 300mg is too much...anyone else experiencing the same!? Go to doc next week...we will see...Read More Read Less

I take 100mg of Zoloft for anxiety that causes my depression. I was tired all of the time, craveing junk food, and gaining weight, not to mention zero sex drive. I just started taking 300mg of Wellbutrin Xl a week ago and I am more anxious now. My craveings did stop. Still no sex drive. Also, when I try to sleep in the dead of silence I swear I hear an inner ringing in my ears. I don't know if it's all in my head or if I really am having negitive side effects. I also find it very hard to sit still in class. I also have the same old feeling of hoplessness and anxiety about everything. Does anyone have any input on this?Read More Read Less
