Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

Wellbutrin 350 XL has helped my depression and I lost 50 lbs the 1st 2 months. I have taken Wellbutrin 350 XL for 7 months I have become very obsessive and impulsive, which I dismissed. The obsessive and impulsive behavior has caused many embarrassing moments. I am weaning off of Wellbutrin. Obsessive and Impulsive should be added as a side effect.

It took a full 6 months to be effective. I noticed small changes, but not the full extent of the benefits I have now. I have just as much stress and life challenges, but I deal much better and no longer lie awake at night ruminating over everything. SSRIs made me nauseated and unable to have orgasm. I have had no significant side effects with Wellbutrin XR

I have tried 7 other SSRI's and SNRI's altogether. The first day I took 150 mg Bupropion (Wellbutrin) I felt less anxious. The night of the second day, I woke up remembering dreams, which I had not done in months, but used to be my usual. According to my psychiatrist it is supposed to increase REM, but many people haven't reported a difference. I happen to experience it. As the first week went on I felt more and more like myself, but with a still slightly drugged feeling. I dropped down to 75mg and my life has been so much easier. I'm not constantly on the edge of feeling like I'm not going to be okay, my suicidal ideation is gone, I can smile and enjoy time with my friends without faking it! It is like I am me again after years of intense MDD and ups and downs (mostly downs) on so many other meds. Unfortunately, while all other side effects have ceased, I am continuing to experience a huge amount of hair loss (alopecia) which is a very rare side effect. There is no other drug like this (that works on dopamine and norepinephrine) and therefore no alternatives to try. For now, I'm feeling like I have my life back and I'm not willing to give that up, even if my hair is thinning. Read More Read Less

Worked well for a few months at 150. Increased to 300 and good effects lasted a few months. Libido greatly increase especially the first months but lessened with time. Will try 450 and hope it last longer. It's the only antidepressant that didn't kill my libido.

In the past 2 years, I started taking SSRI's to deal with anxiousness - starting with Lexapro and then Effexor. I gained 20 pounds very easily, completely lost my sex drive and became depressed. I did some research and I started taking the generic form of this drug while weening off of Effexor and had HORRIBLE side effects - dizziness, nausea, and a terrible itchy rash on the inside of my legs. I discontinued the generic version and have started taking Wellbutrin brand name 150 mg once a day. It's only been a couple weeks but I've noticed increased sweating (especially at night - I wake up drenched in sweat and have to change clothes) vivid scary dreams, and today some dizziness. Can anyone tell me if this will subside or if I'm just not meant to take any form of this drug?? I was really hoping to lose some weight and also treat my ADD with this so I could focus at work again. Willing to stick it out for awhile to see if the side effects go away. Read More Read Less

I suffered from major anxiety and depression. First given Zoloft and I had felt like a zombie and all I wanted to do is sleep. Stopped this horrible drug after 4 weeks and Dr gave me Wellbutrin. The start up side effects were hard but well worth the wait. TYOU NEED TO GIVE THE MED A FULL 6 to 8 WEEKS TO WORK Started feeling better after 2 weeks but felt the full effects in 7 weeks - Well worth the wait. . No more depression and very little anxiety. I did take .5 mg of Klononpin at start up to help with the anxiety. After 8 weeks I no longer need the Klonopin and this drug is a mircle drug for meRead More Read Less

I was on Cipralex for over 2 years, and found it wasn't helping much, and the side effects were almost worse than depression. Wellbutrin has been amazing in clearing my head and allowing me to function without fear of a serious bout of depression and/or anxiety disorder.

My doctor prescribed this medication for my drug and gambling addictions. I still think of both compulsions, but I don't follow through with the activity. Weird, right? But it's a blessing from above! Thank you!!

I started wellbutrin at 300 mg daily 7 years ago. When you start it, it gives you energy and I organized my whole house on it the first week. It helps me big time.

Was sick the first time I took it, but it cut my smoking in half. Took a break and started over - not sick, no effect on smoking this time. At 300mg, my brain slowed down. At 450mg, it stopped working completely and I kept falling down - not from dizziness, just overbalancing. No effect either time on my depression. I'm thinking this isn't a med for me.

I started on 100mg about 4 weeks ago when I was an inpatient being treated for clinical depression with suicidal thoughts....until then I had been on every antidepressant under the sun, most recently, Prozac. My psychiatrist added Wellbutrin as an adjunct to the Prozac. My dose was upped to 150 mg one daily about 9 days ago. I now have HORRIBLE ringing in the ears, vivid dreams, and an almost constant headache. I will try to stick it out though, because I no longer feel so depressed. I'm just not sure that I can stand this ringing!Read More Read Less

While taking this medication I did not want to smoke. I was nauseous and had headaches and wanted nothing to do with cigarettes, so this worked for me I am still smoke free. However the side effects were overwhelming. From Day 1 your mouth is ALWAYS dry. Waking up in the morning actually hurts your mouth. On the 8th day I could not get out of bed. My joints and muscles were inflamed and ached so bad I couldn't move. I stopped taking wellbutrin immediately and went back to taking my Effexor. It had been 6 days since I quit smoking (I continued smoking for 2 days in the beginning) so I was much better with the withdrawals. If this medication had not affected my legs and arms, I would probably still be taking it. It worked great for smoking cessation and my libido increased. Read More Read Less

It works for a short while before side effects begin. My depression and anxiety got worse and lasted longer, never quite goes away. Vision has become blurred and my thoughts can be quite jumbled. I become angry and enraged at the smallest of things. There is much more but overall my life is upside down the majority of the time. This drug really messes up my mind. I've attempted to remain taking it many times but not am in process of coming off it for good.

I have just started this medication (100mg) today (firt dose) for ADHD...more ADD than ADHD. Does anyone take this medication for this reason and have any insight on how it works for you? So tired of not being able to think. Everything is like...I don't know how to explain it...thinking through mud? That make sense? Lemme know your story please.

I have been taking SSRI (Sertraline) for a little over a year. When I started taking it, I was 175 lbs. I am now 257 lbs. I don't blame it on SSRIs entirely. I stopped working out and started eating less healthy. However, I believe that the SSRIs affect my ability to feel satiated by eating. I started changing to Buproprion to get off Sertraline. So far so good. I am not depressed at all any more, but I have yet to start losing weight. That's more on me and getting back into a routine of physical activity. Since I'm a software engineer, I spend a lot of time in a chair, in front of a computer.Read More Read Less
