Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...
My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

it has been a life saver for me.i had tried every anti depressant you can think of and they had told me wellbutrin XL was the last to try and think god that it did i have no side effects at all.

Helped the depresseion but made me very jumpy so I was prescribed Xanax to go along with the Wellbutrin.Could not tolerate heat very well when I was on it.

IT SEEMS TO MAKE ME SLEEP AN AWFUL LOT, SOMETIMES I'M HOLDING SOMETHING IT FALLS WHEN I REALIZE THAT I'VE FALLEN ASLEEP. I'VE EXPERIENCED MORE ANXIETY ATTACKS. IS THIS A SIDED AFFECT TO BE WORRIED ABOUT.

I was prescribed this med to help with weight loss and to help me quit smoking. Wellbutrin was effective in those areas but once I was told to increase from one table to one and a half the gates of hell were open. I began to fell trapped in my own body and wanted to get out by killing my self. I would cry uncontrollable and even wanted to kill my husband. It felt like I was walking in water. I was told by a pastor to stop taking this immediately. Once I stopped I have not had a day of depression. I used to get depressed often. My advise is do not take this med unless you really have to try to quit smoking and lose weight on your own. Tried it for a month, didn't do anything for me. The first couple weeks on it I felt a bit like i was on an ADD med. Now trying Remeron.

In Dec 2007 I was prescribed Wellbutrin 150mg, after the initial few weeks it just didn't seem to be working. My doctor bumped me up the the XL. It started working almost immediately. It felt as if the veil and earmuffs had been removed and colors and sounds became real again. I was extremely happy with the 50 lbs I lost. Sex drive came back with a vengeance. No listed side effects. It is now Feb 2009 and it doesn't seem to be working anymore; back to being irritable, short tempered and just sad. Going to Dr in 2 days to see if something else will work. One side effect that I can't find anyone else having is it messed with my period, even on birth control. My period would come whenever it wanted regardless of what week of pills I was on. Once I switched to taking the BCP at night and Wellbutrin XL in the a.m. it seemed to get MUCH better. Now that the wellbutrin isn't working as great, my cycle is completely whacked. Usually one week w/o it, then get it for a few days, then another week w/o, etc. Doctors say it has nothing to do with each other but I have been on the same BCP for almost 6 years and it didn't happen until I started taking the Wellbutrin XL.
