Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

I have been on Wellbutrin for about 10 months. In December I began taking the 300mg XL version. It helped me tremendously. I had so much energy and motivation to do things. It was a generic. In March I had to switch my pharmacy so they gave me a different generic. It was made by Watson. I started getting really tired all the time. I was constantly angry with people for no good reason and also seemed to be obbsessive compulsive. There were also many physical side effects also. I finally realized it was the medicine and stopped it immediately. I began feeling so much better within 24 hours. I can't believe the difference in these generics. Please pay close attention to how you begin feeling when you take these. I seriously think I would have become suicidal if I had not quit and I have never felt that way before. If it's not working for you go to your doctor and try something else because these medicines can really change your entire personality.Read More Read Less

Wellbutrin alone didn't do anything for me, but together with Lexapro, I felt like a new and happy person. The only side effect that I didn't like was the low sex drive (since I am married, my husband wasn't happy about that!) But he admitted I seemed genuinely upbeat and energetic. I even decorated the house for Christmas which was incredible for me since my depression worsens around the holidays. Having tried many different meds, I think this combo works the best.

I have tried several different meds for anxiety/depression/OCD, each one giving me the exact side effects it has listed. Maybe I'm just sensitive I guess. With this one the worst was probably the constipation and blurred vision with bouts of dizzy spells where I felt off balance all of a sudden. It seemed to work well with keeping my anxiety attacks under control and supressing some OCD tendencies but again I can't handle the side effects. I am hoping something will work as well without the extras I don't need. We'll see I guess...Read More Read Less

I give Wellbutrin 5 stars for ease of use, as it's just a regular pill. However, I experienced a paradoxical reaction to the medicine about 48 hours after first use. Interestingly, the first time I used it, I felt better. Not the next... I felt like I wanted to die. I have had depression most of my life, and this beat everything I have ever felt (this was a -1 dose- effect, btw). I quit taking it immediately and tossed it in the trash. I had an appointment with my psychiatrist the next day, and told him all about it. Normally, a doctor would say not to miss a dose (which I did by not taking it the next morning) without asking, but mine said he was glad I got off it. Desipramine works better for me. Not suggesting that this is a poor drug; I'm sure it's great for many people. However, believe it when they say it can have side effects or make you feel worse...Read More Read Less

This was the worst med I ever took I almost went into the hospital because of it I thought everyone was trying to kil me and my kids I was always hiding in the basement my family members would always have to look and find me I would lock myself in the closet so noone could get me. I would get lost driving around the block or going to the store all in all I was very paranoid, confused all the time and scared for my life as well as my kids life. I would never take that medicine again.

I used Budeprion XL 300mg for depression from a break up and it helped tremendously and the I got myself together and was able to get off of the medicine. That was a year ago. Now I've decided to get back on it for depression again related to job loss, etc and also for anxiety. It has really helped and haven't had any side effects.

I began taking wellbutrin with fluoxetine after ovarian cancer. It took awhile to get the correct dose and insurance coverage, but now I wouldnt go a day without it. I am back to being myself and loving it.

Generic WARNING. This is not about Wellbutrin, but the generic, Budeprion SR 150 mg x2. Irritability, jitters, at first, with 2nd dose at noon--super-witch, anger replaying itself. I checked reviews of generic first, before reading here. Many of the same comments were made. At first, it seemed to work w/Lexapro. Then after weening from Lexapro I felt so brain racing and fatigue from the event. Thought it was the Lexapro withdrawal. Paid attention to my reactions after a.m. dose only and then with noon dose. There appears to be a cumulative negative effect, producing more irrational impatience. I'm scared; will discuss w/psych after having read generic reviews and Wellbutrin reviews. I do not normally have bad reactions to any kinds of medication. NB: the generic medication seemed to work w/ Lexapro for a year. I've been on the genric Budeprion SR for two months. I'll ask to switch to the Wellbutrin and write back. I've been retired about a year--I should be relaxed. Read More Read Less

Have been on Wellbutrin XL for almost 7 years and I absolutely love it. I take it in combination with ZOLOFT. Have had NO side effects. Mood is positive and I've been steady at 300MG's for awhile.

I took this medication about 3 wks for depression. In that time I went from being my easy going sweet self to a witch on wheels. It was bad enough for my whole family to sit me down. I was later diagonsed with bi-polar due to extremely stressful conditions. I'm not sure if this medication exaserbated that problem since at the time it had gone undiagnosed. I would recommend before starting anything for depression you make sure that's all you're dealing with.

I was on Lexapro for several months. I gained several pounds, had no sex drive and felt tired all of the time. My dr. started me on Budeprion SR 150 MG 2x daily. I began it last Wed. I feel dizzy and out of sorts, I also am having trouble sleeping and am having very vivid dreams. After reading some of the reviews, I am wondering if I should ask my dr. for the brand name drug or if I should try to wait it out.

I am taking Wellbutrin SR. This stuff is so good they should put it in the water supply! I have energy, my spastic boss does not get me annoyed anymore. I am calm, I can deal with life's little problems much easier now. Have only been taking it for about a month. A little dry mouth is well worth it!! I have lost 16 pounds since I started taking it. No desire to drink any alcohol even a glass of wine tastes terrible now. Losing weight and feeling great!

I have been on wellbutrin for 15 years-I came off of it for a short time but the anxiety caused me to return to it again. Like most depression sufferers I have tried many drugs over the years but this one has the least side effects and works great. I occasionally get dry mouth so you do need to stay hydrated. I was a smoker and a drinker and have kicked both habits as the drug really does reduce cravings for any pleasure. Unfortunately that does include sex as well-it does decrease your libido but that can be overcome if you work at it! It does not decrease the pleasure level but the desire to get started just isn't there. I did have a period of time where I was not eating as it does also take away your cravings for food. My hubby loves to eat so he makes me eat too,so I have not had anorexia since I met him but I did with my first husband. So I would say that an understanding mate goes a long way toward helping to make this drug a success. I take 150 sr upon waking and before bed. My insurer is also pushing the generic but that did not work for me. I understand there are some generics that are better than others and if the cost is a factor you could try those first. I am convinced that wellbutin treats alcoholism because it runs in my family and I was a problem drinker until I took wellbutrin. I can have a drink now and not want another-but that may just be me. It is sure worth a try if you drink too much-I don't know why it is not more widely used for treating alcoholism because it works. You do have to take wellbutrin for 60 to 90 days to get the full effect of the drug.During that time you do have dry mouth but that subsides after a while and was not a significant problem for me. I am 62 years old so I don't know how much longer I will take it but the doctors seem to think that it is a lifelong drug. It has made a drastic change in my life and I recomend it highly!!Read More Read Less
