Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

It didn't seem to help with my depression but after only two weeks on itI was told by one Psych Dr. That if I beleved it would help me, It would. I slapped him and left, I felt he was the crazy one who needed meds. - 5 years later I started taking it, when it came out for quitting smoking I took it for over 6 weeks and it did actualy help with my depression Also I quit smoking! That Doctor did me and probably many people a disservice by not expaining time frames with all these different drugs, Like Prozac The doctor said in a few weeks He could tell . I felt it within 48 hours. That was the first drug I was on so I never really trusted them after that and no drug ever came close to helping me but it stoped working. and I was put on I couldnt even tell you how many drugs and combos. since then. BUT I did learn that it is true that when they (who ever they are)say it may take six weeks , trust it , don't give up. Its a good drug and I dont believe I had any bad side effects. maybe dry mouth. actualy I'm still on it now, along with a few others.Read More Read Less

I have been taking Wellbutrin since 1995. Twice I tried not taking it for sveral weeks because I was not sure it was heping mem. TWICE i gradually became more lethargic, unable to do more than barely function. Both times my wife noticed my decline beforeI did even aware of the change. Since that second experiment. I have continued to take my W pwice a day. Wellbutrin does not make me high or very happy; it does seem to make me behave with an appearance and general feeling of normality.

I've been taking this drug for several years and did well with it until I was given a generic then life became miserable. There is a difference in absorption rates among the generics and I felt like I was getting it all at once- Zoned out, headache, down right rotton and tired. I read an article about some having the same problem so tomorrow I'm back to wellbutrin. Also it's common to need another medication with this to combat what I call compulsive hyper nastiness. Everyone is different to what brand/dosage/combination works for them and requires alot of patience. If you don't feel your dr is listening to you when you're not feeling well, move on to another dr. Just like meds, some drs are better than others. :)Read More Read Less

I never knew I was so anxious until I started taking this. Moments of serious hopelessness and excruciating anxiety. However I lost 8 pounds and quit smoking so that's good but this drug has a bad feeling to it.

I have been taking this drug for over ten years. I have had other mental health issues other than depression for which my doctors prescribed Wellbutrin. Turned out that I had bipolar type II. Regardless, at the times I would go off of Wellbutrin, I would get into addictive habits like excess drinking and other unsavory vices. Now, I don't think Wellbutrin is all that effective since I take other drugs that address the underlying issues I have with the bipolar and ADHD. If anything it smooths at any rough edges.Read More Read Less

Switched from Cymbalta to this cause it made me tired. When I'm on this I have higher than normal anxiety and increased panic attacks. I feel angry a lot of the time, and I snap at people a lot. It's frustrating.

I was very depressed and was very stressed out. After a couple of weeks there was a huge difference in my sense of well being. I have been on it for 3 months now and i haven't felt this happy in a long time.

I was switched to this medication from Effexor XR 75mg. I am taking 300mg per day. The Effexor made me so tired I was unable to function. While Wellbutrin has reduced my fatigue, I have become very agitated and angry. I am so mean and say awful things to people. It has not helped at all with my depression. In fact, my depression is worse. On Effexor XR, I never cried or felt like crying. On Wellbutrin I cry during commercials. This medication does not work for me at all. My doctor wants me to switch to Lexapro. I am scared to try it based on reviews stating it's extremely difficult to wean off of it.Read More Read Less

This drug has caused me to have severe anxiety, anger, caused me nightmares, makes me feel very weird, headaches, nausea, dry mouth, racing thoughts, sleeplessness, major depression, bad thoughts, stress, and every other horrible feelings, like I feel I am jumping out of my skin, losing my mind, and I've been on it for about 2 weeks. I felt these side effects shortly after starting this drug. I cannot wait to get to my doctor's office in the morning if I don't lose my mind and can make it there in this crazy state of mind. This drug is horrible and has made me much worse than I've ever been.... Read More Read Less

This medication worked extremely well for depression, and I was even able to stop smoking (without realizing the medicine was helping me stop), however, I had to stop taking it due to the excessive sweating. My scalp, face and neck would sweat profusely even while just sitting and watching television. If I was being active (i.e., biking, housework) I would be drenched with sweat and it became socially embarrassing.

I took this drug to quit smoking and it worked. At the time I was also taking Paxil for depression. I stopped taking the Paxil and stopped smoking and lost weight. I find the Wellbutrin to be a better anti-depressant for me than the Paxil was. My husband is also taking Wellbutrin plus Zoloft for chronic depression after trying many other anti-depressant drugs and he is in the best place mentally in the 40 years we have been together.

I was in a very bad place when I started this medication. I read up on the reviews and the side effects on this site and discussed it with my doctor. We agreed to give it a try and I felt a change within hours. Now I feel like myself; not the shadow of who I was, pretending like I was alright. There are a few side effects that can be annoying (constipation, involuntary quivers), but to feel like me...it's worth it. I hope this feeling continues.
