Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

After one week of Wellbutrin treatment, I became unable to focus on any task for more than a few seconds. Every facet of life was frustrating. Extreme anger and rage were a common occurence. My treatment ended after two weeks, however years later my ability to focus remains diminished. This drug is extremely dangerous, in my opinion.

My doctor prescribed it to help me stop smoking. I became suicidal and scared my family. They said they would rather have me smoke than shoot myself. I stopped taking it and returned to normal in about 3 days.

the baseline 300mg qd is suspect for me. I believe I need more. having to wait 8hrs to take the second 150mg dose is inconvenient especially since I travel.

I started taking this medicine for depression. I had to stop it because it made my depression worse. I felt hopeless and started having suicidal thoughts. I was tired all the time and I felt like all I wanted to do was sleep. It took so much energy to get up and do ANYTHING that it like I was fighting with my inner stubborn child to get anything done. Including going to the bathroom. My mind felt like I was in a fog bubble and I couldn't think. I had to concentrate very hard about just basic things. I became cranky, irritable and downright ridiculously rude. Anything that I thought fell right out of my mouth no matter what it was. I couldn't stand being around me... I know no one else did either. Having two children that I homeschool, I couldn't stay on the medicine. I decided that mild depression was better than being psychotic and on the verge of catatonic.Read More Read Less

Started this to treat Depression and Adult ADD. I took 75 mg/day, and it gave me a lot of energy, focus, attention span. However, caused anxiety and the worst symptom was severe hair loss. The first time I tried it, I noticed the hair loss after 2 weeks. I stopped taking it for about 6 months. Then, I gave it another try, thinking maybe it wasn't the Wellbutrin. As soon as I started taking it again, my hair started coming out by the handfuls, right about 1.5 weeks into taking it. My Doctors have never heard of this side effect, but I know for a fact it's caused by this drug.Read More Read Less

mixed results with this drug. I felt less depressed and more sleepy. During the day I felt sexually aroused all day, so much that I had to go to the bathroom at work and masturbate several times throughout the day. On the occasion that I did have sex it was embarrassing because my orgasms were so fierce and I would end up drenching my partner. It got to be too much for me to control myself and I had to stop taking it after I developed bad headaches and nosebleeds. Although it helped me feel less depressed and anxious, I would not recommend this drugRead More Read Less

The first week I was very energetic, reduced appetite, and lost 5 lbs.but after about a month taking it I became extremely agitated and aggressive towards others. After taking it for 3 months, now I have developed blotchy red skin rash. Its just not worth it anymore to take this medication.

I am a firm believer in finding the antidepressant that works for your body. Wellbutrin does not work for me. After about a week I felt a slight upswing in mood but after 3 weeks, I can hardly sleep, can't concentrate, and it feels like my brain can't function anymore. I'm quitting this tomorrow but encourage others who have trouble with this med to keep trying until you find the right one. It took me 5 tries to find what worked for me.

I have tried alot of different meds and this is the only one that has helped me. Never had any side effects EVER and honestly dont even feel like I have something in my system, thats how natural and effective it is. I have been on it now for 2 years and it has helped control my moods, i hit too high and dont get too low and helps me think rationally and not get so overwhelmed when im stressed out.

I suffer from anxiety. I've tried Lexapro and now Wellbutrin XL. Had completely different side effects from each, but am weaning off Welbutrin XL due to killer headaches, aches in my neck where I suffer from osteoarthritis and horrible constipation. I wish I could just stop taking it, but doc says down to 150 mg a day for a week and then 150 mg every other day for a week.

This medication has made all the difference for me. Depression runs in my family specifically in females. There are 3 generations of us currently taking this medication and is doing wonders for all of us!

I'd been taking a small dose (5 mg/day) of lexapro to help with anxiety, but I experienced significant loss of sexual desire and pleasure, so my doctor added wellbutrin as a supplement to help alleviate the sexual side effects. I was finding that I was feeling better, and I now take the wellbutrin instead of the lexapro and I'm now really feeling great - like my old self with more enthusiasm and energy. This has been the case for only one month, but so far so good.

When I first started Wellbutrin it seemed to work pretty well but as time progessed it started to lose it effectiveness. I would call it more of a Band-Aid than a long term treatment option.

I have Major Depressive Disorder as well as Fibromyalgia and CFIDS. I tried nearly every antidepressant on the market in the 80s. Tri-cyclics, MAOIs, SSRIs, etc. The only drug that initially helped me was Trazodone. When the effects of that started to wane I went to a doctor that prescribed Wellbutrin for me. I immediately received outstanding help from this drug. For the first time since I was a child I felt like a "normal" person. It helped with every facet of The Monster, Depression. I have been taking this drug for twenty years and I will never give it up. It and the doctor who prescribed it gave me my life back. It also helps somewhat with Fibromyalgia and CFIDS. It once helped to keep me awake. I no longer get that benefit from the drug and am taking Provigil to try to remain alert. If you have tried other antidepressants with less than stellar results, please ask your doctor about Wellbutrin. I take 450mgs of Wellbutrin XL in the mornings. I can tell within hours if I missed a dose. Read More Read Less
