Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...
My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

Not only do I have ADHD but I have Bi-Polar disorder as well! I was afraid that because of the limitations with meds I'd have to experiment with the Doctor for months before getting the right combination. I added the Wellbutrin to my already 16 y.o. routine and have since been able to enjoy life and really focus on the moment I am in at the time. I'm not 100% better but am far more functional than before.

I have now been on 300mg of bupropion for about a month. Had been on 150 for about 1.5 months. When dosage was increased, I had a mild ringing in my ears. Go to PCP & Psychiatrist and was told that it was extremely rare (I'm often the exception to the rule) I stopped them for a few days to see if the ringing would subside. BAD MOVE!! My mood immediately went south and the crying came back. I started back after 5 days and in 24hrs I was back to "normal". I have taken countless anti depression meds over the years. This is the only one that has worked. I will just deal with the ringing. Also there is a lot of muscle aches but I am resuming my workout this week. Was told that will help. I will let you guys know.Read More Read Less

Annoying if u accidentally take sooner than 12 hours apart, caused rapid heart rate, and trouble sleeping, do not feel this is effective with mood disorders. Still experience mood swings and can't organize my own thoughts. Have expressed with the MD who has precribed to me. He increased the dose.

My doctor perscribed Wellbutrin XL to me after I was diagnosed with a tumor (carcinoid) in my small bowel that release hormones which caused me to cry at the smallest thing. I think I was depressed or something. When I started taking this medicationg, I was great..really. Even after my surgery, I still have to take it or I go right back to the crying. Strange. Great medication.. Thank God!

Wellbutrin has made life wonderful again! I've been on Zoloft and didn't really get much out of it. Recently came off Prozac because my side effects were really rare and severe. Wellbutrin gives me energy during the day and helps me wake up with a more positive feeling. Issues that used to send me into a bad funk aren't so bad anymore. I find that I rebound from problems quicker and am able to move on. The only side effects I'm experiencing is a little dry mouth and occasional constipation, but it's all be manageable.Read More Read Less

I have taken Buproprion (Wellbutrin) three different times for depression. The first time I was extremely depressed and was crying all the time, hated my life, hated my job, etc. etc. I feel that the Wellbutrin it helped each time and I did not need to stay on it permanently. My personal experience with this drug was positive. I did experience constipation however, and this is easily prevented by adding TWO apples to your daily food intake and drinking at least 1 ounce of water, for every 2 pounds of body weight. I will actually be looking to go back on this anti-depressant again soon as I am in the middle of divorce and things are starting to overwhelm me. But I do not feel like I "need" it. It is great if you have adult ADHD, or just trouble concentrating/getting things done. I am a superstar at work when I am taking this stuff. Read More Read Less

Only on week one. Tomorrow I up from 150 to 300. In some ways I already feel better, and when I feel better, I FEEL GREAT! BUT I when I'm not feeling GOOD, I'm severely exhausted. My stomach is also queasy for a while after taking it. I'm going to switch to taking it at bedtime to see if any of that helps, since some of the severe exhaustion occurs within hours of taking it. Will update in 1 week. cg

This drug worked for me almost immediately! Within two days, I started feeling markedly better. My only side effects have been some increased energy, so I try to take the 2nd pill earlier in the evening to avoid sleep issues. This drug replaced Effexor XR for me. Effexor worked for many years for me, but the effectiveness seemed to wane, and a change was needed.

After the death of 3 family members in a little over a year, I experienced on-going depression and uncontrollable crying jags. My doctor started me on 150 mg. daly and I had almost immediate relief---symptoms did not magically disappear, but they became much more controllable. Two years later I'm back in control, coping well, and ready to wean myself off the drug. It provided the assistance I needed. However, unlike most other reviewers, I've gained weight since taking Wellbutrin.

I took well butrin briefly to help me stop smoking. I could feel it release in my body and it felt like little fingers running down. Then I would feel sick to my stomach and then I would lose my memory...get forgetful and dingy. After taking it about a month I began to have suicidal thoughts. I got off of it after that. AFter a few years...I am convinced it did some permanant damage to my memory--though it improved from what it was while I was on the drug. I have a few friends that I found out were on this too. They claim similarly.Read More Read Less

I have been taking Wellbutrin XL 300mg for about 10 years. Had no bad side effects for me that I know of. Seemed to help with depression and anxiety. Recently retired and a lot of stress and tension melted away. I am no longer taking it because I don't feel like I need it now. I went from 300mg. and gradually reduced dosage. A few side effects of anxiety and feeling "strange" but were not bad and didn't last long. I believe Psycotropic drugs are like women. Some can help some people and some can't. They are also like men. They are faithful to some and not so faithful to others. Depends on the make-up and physiology of the person. All in all, not bad and helped me out of depression when I needed it the most. Read More Read Less

I am only on my second week of taking this. the first week i started at 75mg (i am very sensitive to meds). now in my second week i have uped my dosage to 150mg/ day. just the past two days i have noticed severe exhaustion towards the end of the day, almost like some sort of come down?? Now i have been dealing with muscle/joint aches which are severe!! my dr. didnt even mention this to me as a side effect. my whole body feels flu-like, completely drained of energy and sore by the end of each day. I am hoping this will eventually pass, or any suggestions to help with the joint and muscle pain???Read More Read Less

Moderately helping (450mg SR), but wish it could help more. The side effects are annoying (get less sleep now, increased libido, possible increase in anxiety) and really became noticeable at 300mg. It hasn't hosed me over like just about every other anti-depressant I have taken (and I've tried a couple dozen at this point) so it's the one I have to settle for. I'm taking the SR version in case my IBS acts up. To the person that asked about taking all of the SR's at once, they release the medicine over a 12 hour period, so I have to wonder about that. I spread mine out (loosely every eight hours). On the other hand, having a higher dose during the day may be a good thing. Sounds like you should ask your doctor about this.Read More Read Less

Took prozac for 1 month and had horrible migrain....was put on wellbutrin, taking the generic, (who can afford the real stuff), and the migraine is still here. I was told after I stopped the prozac it might take a week for migraine to go away, it has been exactly 1 week and it is not gone. Excedrin Migraine 1 pill at a time takes the edge off( you can only take 2 in 24 hrs.) Going to Dr. in 4 days... also terrible high pitch noise in ears....want to stop med. on my own to see if these will go away. Don't think I can wait 4 days for appt.Read More Read Less
