Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

Ive been on Wellbutrin XL 300 mg for a few months and at 1st I noticed a difference right away but then the sexual drive has gone, which is causing issues in my marriage but other than that i feel great and dont want to change. I noticed that if I forget to take it after a three days I AM A MOODY B*** and snap at the least little things, but once I start takin it again I feel great. Beside the sexual thing I love it and if I get moody people will ask me "Did you take your happy pill today" which will remind me. I am only 30 and did not think I would ever need something this strong because I was on lexapro for YEARS and then even after they increased the dose to the Lexapro it stopped working. This works GREAT, just wish I knew how to get my sex drive back.Read More Read Less

Using this drug for a neurological autoimmune disorder than causes my muscles to always be in contraction and bupropion helps with energy and motivation issues as I have been forced to go on disability from my professional medical career that I loved. It helps me cope.

I started taking this Welbutrin 2 months ago. At 30 years of age, I never in my wildest dreams thought I would need such a medication. But after starting a family, work and daily activities, I found myself overwhelmed and it was difficult to deal with people and situations. It was enough for me to consult with a doctor and see what was out there to help. My symptoms in plain english included, not wanting to be around friends or functions that normally I would attend, loss of interest at work, easily distracted by anything, sleepless nights, picking at my husband over every little thing (which was causing problems. But since I've been taking this medicine my relationships with people overall have improved dramatically, I have more energy and I am less of an emotional eater. I could go on and on. I love this medication and I'm a happier person! Read More Read Less

Within 3 days I have had the feeling of extreme dizziness to the point of not being able to drive. It felt like my eyes were rolling behind my head. This medication is NOT for me.

I started taking Wellbutrin XL a little over a week ago. It started with severe headaches, fuzzy thoughts and just the general feeling of being uncomfortable. Last Thursday I started taking it twice a day and have been in bed for the last three days with such severe muscle aches and off and on temperature with ringing in one ear. I even had to pull over when driving home from work on Friday because I kept feeling "blackness". I am also a runner and since starting this medication, my legs have felt heavy and sore to the bone, not even able to finish a short training session. I have not taken any more of the medication since this happened and am going to the doctor this morning! I am sure that she will say it is a virus, but I know that is definitely was the Wellbutrin because the side effects were immediate. Has anyone else had these side effects?Read More Read Less

Was depressed off/on for years; docs tried all kinds of stuff that only made me sleepy. but Wellbutrin did the trick! Interested in life, have energy, zero weight gain (all the other antidepressants made me fat & lazy) & no negative libido side effects. I think it's great -- but i know different stuff works for different folks.

I see no improvement in my mood and the doctor just says you've always been depressed so nothing has changed.

I have been on this med. a little over a month. Love the energy. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced acid reflux with this medication? Otherwise, great med.

I started taking Wellbutrin to help ease my seasonal depression & my DR said it would also help with the symptoms of my ADHD. I took this drug when I was 20 turning 21, I quit taking the drug b/c I had bad side-effects (I figured out the only time I had those side-effects was when I was drinking alcohol) recently I realized I had a serious alcohol-abuse problem, I joined the Fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous and I have been sober for 5 months. When working with my Psychiatrist in an attempt to control my ADHD (he wanted to work in my Alcohol Abuse) I asked him if I could try Wellbutrin again. I have only been taking it this go around, for less than a week, I take Wellbutrin in addition to Trazadone (for sleep) Lexapro (my opinion the BEST anti-depressant) Adderall (for ADHD), one of the 'benefits' I am receiving from Wellbutrin is the cessation my my nicotine cravings! The other 'benefits' I am experiencing: more 'real' energy (not too much) I am able to get through the day without PRAYING I can go to bed when I get home at 6pm, also I can THINK much more clearly, I have patience now (I didn't realize I wasn't very patient before), I have a reasonable appetite during the day (Adderall suppresses appetite) I am calm and I cry a lot less than before :) I hope this helped: Charlene age 25 Read More Read Less

I started taking Wellbutrin about three weeks ago. After the 2nd week, I started having trouble sleeping. By the end of last week I started having a strange feeling like my heart was going to beat out of my chest. I went to my doctor, who informed me that I was experiencing heart palpitations. The last day I took the medication (3 days ago) I experienced a panic attack while at work, and have since experienced 2 more panic attacks, each with worsening symptoms. Today is the 2nd day without medication and I am still having the palpitations... Although Wellbutrin helped with my mood, I would taking being depressed any day over the side-effects I have experienced.Read More Read Less

I'm a stay at home mom...have 2 girls and am being treated for mild depression and PMDD. I'm not sure about this drug yet. I was taking 150 mg SR twice a day for 2 months and really felt not difference. Previously I was taking prozac for about 4 months which helped my mood but left me feeling so tired and lethargic; therefore I switched. Now I'm taking Wellbutrin XL 300mg (for one week) and still have only felt little relief. The worst side effect for me is abdominal pain. Day 2 of taking the new dose I started feeling bad stomach pain. Still has not got better but I'm trying to wait it out to see if it will help my mood.Read More Read Less

I was on SRI's for 13 years, and was exhausted all the time, barely functioning, even though the dark depression was gone. I slowly switched from Effexor to Wellbutrin, I take 400mg in the morning now, then added Xanax .25 at night for anxiety. The effect was startling - in a few days, I hate much more energy and motivation. I used to have to take naps at work at lunchtime because I felt like I was going to almost faint - at least 2-3 times a week. I have done that for 10 minutes once in 2 years. I was able to do 5 years of taxes that I was too tired to tackle before, and I can function much better in general now. Made a huge difference in my life, night and day. Wellbutrin affects dopamine levels much more than most of the SSRI's, I believe that's the reason. I am a recovering alcoholic (26 years sober), and drinking affects dopamine too, so I can see why Wellbutrin works for me.Read More Read Less

I think this is just great for me after about 4 weeks. Started at 150 for about 3 weeks and then went to 300 for over a week now. I do not suffer from anxiety and i am not sure how this would ever be a medication for the treatment of anxiety ? It would seem to me that this medication could very well increase anxiety for those who have anxiety related issues. What it has done for me : Got me out of bed instead of sleeping all day for no real reason i could think of . It jump-started me so to speak. I have way more get up and go along with reduced anger,i got away from this senseless sadness, constant rehashing issues i have no control over and this is what i should be. Hope this continues for me. I get my 6 ,7 or 8 hours of sleep and i am ready to go.I really have nothing negative to say at this point for me.Read More Read Less

Dr. told me to take 150mg the first week and if need be, increase to 300mg, which I did (150 did nothing for me; I have a very high tolerence).Calmed me down, but gave me the worst case of cotton mouth (drinking a ton of water), wake up in the middle of the night & can't get back to sleep. Dr also gave me 0.5mg of Xanax (helped take the edge of the Wellbutrin XL.Also taking 0.25 Xanax at night to sleep. Stopped taking it after 30 days ( felt like I have built up a tolerence to it & it's not working the way it was) and I'm experiencing dizziness. Getting up in the morning, I can understand, but laying in bed, stretching & I'm getting dizzy...Has anyone else had this experience?? Using the same combo? Everything else is within the guidelines of this med. Tired in the afternoon, thoughts a little fuzzy, slight forgetfulness. Would like to hear from ohters who have experienced the same.Read More Read Less
