Before this medication I was absolutley a mess. I was crying almost everyday, on my days off from work I would lay on the couch and would not get up all day. I had stopped going out with friends, gained over 30 lbs, and overall just didn't care about anything. I decided it was time to take action and as much as I thought, oh this is a phase and I will snap out of it, I realized I couldn't do it on...

My 19 year old daughter starting taking this medication Dec. 18 to treat for clinical depression. On Jan 16, she overdosed on the wellbutrin. Her behavior and mood since she started taking wellbutrin has gone downhill. She survived the overdose but had many seizures. She is now in a psych ward under a 14 day hold.

I have been taking buperion 200mg along with 20mg of abilify for 3 years. I am a fast mood swinger (several times a day) and have been able to run my life "normal".My husband left me 3 months ago after 11 yrs and I thought I would be a basket case but with my meds and counseling, I have been able to work 40+ hours per week and take care of my 3 small children. I also lost over 50 lbs that I needed to lose and still have my ups and downs but I'm good.

For over twelve years I have been helped with this medication which medicates my ADD as well as depression. Now I can no longer get the "Bramd" and must start the generic next month. My dosage is 300XL mg. I had a horrible experience with the "So called" generic four years ago before GSK released the formula for the generic. My BP went to stroke level and now I'm still on 3 BP lowering meds.

I have been very lucky with this medication. Prescribed to quit smoking, it has been successful. The first 3-4 days caused side effects (mood swings, and my lips felt like I ate a whole bag of potatoe chips immediately after taking the pill.) Once I started taking it two times a day (day 4)side effects seemed to diminish. I do crave a cigarette from time to time but immediately it dissipates and I have gained weight. I was hoping to stay slim. I would recommend and suggest to continue for 2 weeks as long as the effects are non-damaging and non-suicidal. Read More Read Less

I am Obese; I like that it makes me want to do things/be active. I don't like, that sometimes, it has seemed to mess with my Brain; like an anti-psychotic.

Made me depressed, I saw things that weren't there, heard noises when no one was around, felt really "tripped out", and made me really nervous and anxious. I took it for 3 days and figured out it wasn't going away and that it was making me "crazy". Stopped taking it. I'd rather live with adhd.

I took Wellbutrin for a short period of time;perhaps around 3-4 months, and I found myself dillusional. I don't think this medication fit my needs.

After a sudden loss, I became depressed and obsessed, felt out of control. I was first given another anti-depressent that made me feel like a fence post.(Effexor?) Switched to Wellbutrin and what a wonderful difference!! I did not realize that I was really Adult ADD. Suddenly I COULD finish projects, could clean my house with some order, COULD organize my files, I felt so much more control. This was noticed on my job and at home. The biggest improvement, as an artist, is that my skills and concentration have vastly improved. At present I am taking college art courses and can paint and draw so well!! I hope I don't ever have to give this medication up for any reason!!Read More Read Less

I am on 512mg of Aplenzin which my dr says is equivalent to 450mg of Wellbutrin XR. I have been on this for about a year progressing to the current dosage that I am on. I think this medication has significantly helped me feel motivated and helped me to see my life more with the glass half full :) I know that it is working because when I ran out of my meds a couple months ago my boyfriend asked me why I was being so snippy with him and instigating problems between us. In a later conversation I mentioned I hadn't been taking my meds for a few days and he told me that he indeed could tell a huge difference in me. Thats all the confirmation of success that i need! :)Read More Read Less

After 4 years of fatigue, a complete physical breakdown, and a range of mysterious illnesses I was misdiagnosed with depression and an eating disorder. I was prescribed first Zoloft, then to fight the fatigue caused by it, Wellbutrin XL. As soon as I started taking WB I began to feel more energized, awake at 5.30 am, just like another reviewer, more alive. This was during the winter months. At this time I was also taking a small amount of Zoloft, that was upped a little while later to 200 mg's, at which point I began to feel worse. Than my wellbutrin was upped to 300 mg's,and I began to feel better again. I then ran our of Zoloft completely, and my medication provider failed to reorder it for me, so I remained without it for nearly five weeks. They were wonderful weeks. While the first few days I felt dizzy, I did not feel more emotional or irrational in any way. my doctor, however, insisted I go back on it when it arrived. Sadly. Getting back on that was a rough road. Only two years later, when I was diagnosed with lupus, could I stop. Wellbutrin has been amazing. Yes, it comes with some photosensitive side effects, not so fun for lupus patients, but the good outweighs the bad. Long term, i agree, the effects seem to fade a little. I don't like being without it. It helps another friend with Irritable bowel syndrome, it helped me lose a few pounds. Neither the generic, nor the 150 mg format is a good substitute for the extended release (XL). It has been great and I highly recommend it if you must be on antidepressants. Read More Read Less

DO NOT USE THE GENERIC!!! I used the generic Wellbutrin because of my insurance and it turned me into more of a basketcase than before I started. It was awful! I fought with my insurance to get the name brand and now I feel like myself again. I have tons of energy and feel great.

I have been diagnosed with major depression 30 years ago. I have taken all the drugs and Wellbutron is the only one that helps. I take 450mg in the morning and 20mg Celexa at night. The combination is most important. Wellbutron is no longer covered by my insurance. The costs increases every month. My last 3 month script was $800. The generic does not work for me. I have tried for financial assistance. No help. I am less likely to take all my meds when I worry how I will pay for it.

I just started one week ago with a generic brand of Wellbutrin SR 100 mg. I had severe stomach ache for 3 days, headache and joint aches. I realize I was taking med. in the morning without food. Now I take it after eating first and I have no stomach ache & my headache did go away after the 3rd day. I feel dizzy at times, extremely dry mouth and constipation. I been feeling more energy and waking up not tired. I was crying easily for no apparent reason & sleeping many hours through the day for weeks after moving and seeking employement. Some of the things I started is: exercising along with eating healthier. I am sleeping evening 6-8 hours and I'm able to get thru the day feeling better about myself and others. I am going to increase my dosage tomorrow to 200mg/day. Doctor suggested 1 pill in AM and 1 pill at Noon. No later in the day otherwise I will not be able to go to sleep. I am feeling positive about the results so far. Read More Read Less
